  1. Thanks for another super "Saint Greg Production" and taking us along with you! Just wonderful and much appreciated! Sorry that you are Covid positive, but at least you didn't get the "other" thing that was going around the ship at the same time (well, at least not mentioned!). Hmm, if it was Noro and you had both, would that be a case of "CoNo"? 😄 BTW here's the info on the investigation for the "other" on the Splendor by the CDC Vessel Sanitation Program (77 pax, 16 crew) - they will eventually post their findings as to the cause. In 2019 there was an outbreak on a different line traced back to frozen raspberries, of all things! https://www.cdc.gov/nceh/vsp/surv/outbreak/2022/CarnivalSplendor_5-24.html
  2. And an exterior painting project on the Carnival Magic made people sick enough for the Coast Guard to investigate (so if trouble always comes in threes, that makes 3 ships and we should be all done now (knock on driftwood LOL): https://www.wtkr.com/news/coast-guard-looks-into-carnival-cruise-ship-passengers-feeling-sick-from-fumes
  3. The Shiplife on youtube has a video of an officer (can't get a good view to tell which one) discussing paint fumes with some passengers and what Carnival is going to offer them $$ (VERY nice compensation JMO) - that part starts about the 7:00 mark:
  4. Oh no! I just wondered if you had any knowledge of others reports on that sailing and had no idea that you would have any trouble too when I posted the link above. I sincerely hope you both feel better quickly!
  5. Thanks for the report! The comparisons always make for good reading, and help with planning future cruises. 😁 A funny thing was soon after I saw your report, I saw another 5/23 Quantum cruisers report over on the RCI board - but his was a bit different lol. Were you aware this was happening on your sailing? Here's a link if you haven't seen it:
  6. Oh I'm so sorry to read this sad news. Many prayers to your family, loved ones and friends.
  7. Sorry no firsthand knowledge here, but for others that haven't seen this yet, @Wendy&Grumpy posted this re the current NCL Gem sailing on the Greece Ports of Call thread showing NCL is NOT serving while in port:
  8. These ladies called it "cruise jail" 🙃 https://www.khon2.com/coronavirus/covid-in-hawaii-we-are-in-princess-cruise-jail-now/
  9. Thanks again for posting your thoughts throughout this entire experience because as I've grown older I've found preparation is a must for travel - at least have a plan in case the worst happens (travel insurance, high limit credit card, etc.) and your story just reminds me of that before we head out again. I'm glad Jair assisted you so capably, but I think we can all imagine it was his pleasure dealing with "good people" like you 😉
  10. Yay you're getting closer if you're at the Miami airport! BTW when I've been watching port cams on PTZ I noticed they have a Miami airport cam too! https://www.miamiairportcam.com/
  11. OMG of course it would have to have stairs to top off this trip ðŸĪŠ How did you manage? Wheelchair up? I'm afraid I would have had to probably sit down backwards and bounce my way up each step (whereupon my husband would immediately start acting like he didn't know me!) 😁
  12. Re the crutches - make sure they are set for your height. The other lady I posted about who broke her ankle was pretty short and she was having a hard time with her crutches. They tried to adjust hers, but she found out that they were already set for the shortest height, which for that pair was 5' 10"! And no shorter ones available! Prayers to you to get you both home safe and sound and pain free! 👞
  13. Of all people you will know exactly where she's coming from! Both of your accidents sound like something that could happen to me - usually when I get hurt it's at the most inopportune time LOL. 🙃 Hope you rest up and recover quickly!
  14. Oh I am so sorry for you! It was so strange to read this because I had recently posted a youtube link over on the RCI board from a lady who had quite a story about falling in a restroom on Coco Cay - and breaking her ankle! ( youtube "Broken Ankle on a Cruise") I guess it's true "ship happens" 😊 Take care and heal up for your next adventure!
  15. OP do you think your husband might have meant Carnival instead of RCI - because Carnival does have some sailings requiring boosters but only if you are more than 6 months past your last dose of your initial vaccine: "The following Carnival cruises require fully vaccinated guests who are more than 6 months past the last dose of their initial vaccine series to be boosted in order to sail: Carnival Spirit 16-day Carnival Journeys – April 17, 2022 Carnival Pride Transatlantic – April 24, 2022 Carnival Pride Barcelona departures – May 8, May 19 and May 29, 2022 Carnival Splendor 23-day Carnival Journey (Transpacific) – September 6, 2022 For all other Carnival cruises, booster shots are just a recommendation and not a requirement." https://cruisefever.net/the-carnival-cruises-that-require-a-booster-shot/
  16. I was really impressed when they ordered an ambulance for her when she couldn't climb into the FLL transfer they arranged for her - and they told her no charge too! I felt bad when she said she didn't want to go on the Flowrider because she was afraid of getting hurt, and then ended up on the floor of the restroom in Coco Cay! And then had to maneuver pulling up her wet bathing suit while laying on the floor with a broken ankle yikes. 🙃
  17. Thank heavens this wasn't me! I'll edit my post to make that clear! It was another poor lady who posted a video showing what happened to her. I was impressed with RCI's service and thought others would be too.
  18. Pretty interesting youtube video from an unfortunate lady (NOT ME thank goodness!) who was sailing on the Wonder of the Seas who fell in a bathroom on Coco Cay and broke her ankle. You get to see what happens "behind the scenes" with a medical emergency onboard - looks like great service by the crew:
