  1. Wow! That’s $22.00 per day for 2 people. $11.00 each, which is basically one drink per day. Not exactly what most people would consider partying! lol. But, if that works for you, then more power to you!
  2. Well said! But, don’t forget about those people, myself included, that really enjoy the specialty coffees, with or without alcohol. Also included is unlimited bottled water, which most of us use everyday and soda is also included. I usually have 3 coffees ($15.00) 1 soda ($3.00) 2 glasses of wine ($30.00) 2 cocktails ($25.00). That’s $73.00 per day plus gratuity of $16.00. That’s $89.00 per day! I haven’t even included the cost of wifi. So, after only 4 alcohol beverages per day, I’ve already exceeded the cost of the Plus package. If I choose an extra glass of wine or a cocktail, I’m way ahead. I wish those people who constantly criticize the cost of the packages would refrain from including EVERYONE in their perception of the value. We’re all adults capable of doing simple math and making our own educated decisions.
  3. You can arrive at 8 am and leave at 12:30 pm for the arrival of the afternoon shift which ends at 5 pm. Or, reserve for the whole day 8 am to 5 pm. If you choose to book for your entire cruise, your lounger is reserved everyday in the same location and is discounted $10.00 per day.
  4. I have a feeling that you’re convinced that you won’t enjoy yourself. You already feel cheated and disappointed. That’s no way to start a vacation. Perhaps cruising is not for you. Seasoned cruisers understand the importance of being flexible. Itineraries change all the time and you have to expect the unexpected when you choose to cruise. All cruiselines want you to spend money onboard, but you don’t have to. The choice is yours. As for your non refundable deposit, unfortunately this is a UK policy which I’m quite sure you were well aware of before you booked. A little research prior to booking would have been ideal.
  5. Would you be able to share a copy of this invoice showing that it’s refundable until February 18? We could help you better if we see it ourselves.
  6. @memoak is spot on. We won’t know much until people start reporting back to us. However, I can tell you about Celebrity Edge class ships. We sailed on Ascent over New Years, which is the newest of this class and Edge is the first ship of this class. We love them! We’re Elite+ so we’ve sailed on all classes over the years and prefer Edge class. Very innovative design with all the favourites from the earlier ships. So many places to go for entertainment. And, the casino is non smoking, which is huge for us! Princess casinos are all smoke filled and I can’t even go in there. Cabins are amazing with the best bathrooms. Huge walk in shower with glass walls. Princess is still using the small stalls with shower curtains. However, the new Princess Sphere class ships may be fabulous. Just don’t know enough about them yet. If you can wait it out, we should be getting some feedback from the February 18 inaugural sailing. Personally, I would wait and then compare the ships, amenities and pricing. Good luck!
  7. No. On this ship the far forward facing cabins are on Lido deck, as in L101, 102, 103, 104.
  8. Thanks for the heads up! Definitely will be more observant when on the pool deck.
  9. Appreciate you sharing this information. It’s so much worse than when we were there. Perhaps the cruiselines should omit Jamaica from their itineraries. I would never even consider getting off the ship.
  10. We’ve been a few times on cruises and then our last time there became the end of Jamaica for us. Extremely aggressive vendors everywhere and wanting to braid your hair constantly. Never again, just not fun anymore.
  11. Good for you living your best life. I’m sure your lovely husband would be pleased that you’re back to enjoying cruising. Jim is still with you and watching over you and right now he’s saying “You go, girl!” Enjoy your cruise on Enchanted! Wishing you fair winds and following seas.
  12. Have a wonderful time on your cruise! I’m sure you will enjoy the Plus package. I’ll be two weeks ahead of you, so I’ll think about you and have a cocktail in your name! Cheers!
  13. It’s a very good value. To those who don’t want it, don’t like it, don’t approve of it, can’t afford it, please stop your constant criticism of the packages. There are many of us who do enjoy it. I recently read on these boards that the majority of passengers have one of the packages. Like you, we love the convenience of enjoying our cruise without having to factor in cost. And, the Princess packages are the lowest price in the cruise industry. Win, win for us. Thanks, Princess!
  14. Always, everyday, incessantly.
  15. We’re on the August 24 sailing. Your weather should be quite lovely, even in the Maritime provinces. A bit too early for a big display of the fall colours, but otherwise it will be quite warm. Of course, you know New England far better than I, but assuming it’s about the same as here in Ontario. We hope to book The Sanctuary for our entire cruise, but you have to board the ship to do so. No pre reservations. You might want to take a look at the Sanctuary (there is an extra charge). You can book half day, full day or full cruise. Go to YouTube and check it out. It’s quite lovely!
  16. Enchanted is a really pretty ship. I’ll be sailing on her in August on a Canada New England itinerary. It’s a very different experience compared to Carnival and I sincerely think you might enjoy the change. Good luck!
  17. Princess offers quite a large and varied buffet for all meals and snacks throughout the day. One section of the buffet is always open. The MDR is open for anytime dining, just show up when you’re ready to eat and you may have a short wait to be seated. You can also pre reserve each days dining time on the app. I also enjoy dressing up, and yes you can do that on Princess anytime you choose. There are many, many threads on this board with regards to the dress code, or lack of, on Princess. Just do what makes you happy and ignore the rest. Yes, Princess offers excursions to all ports of call. You may also prebook these on the app. I would join your roll call and see what others on your sailing are planning. Since you’re sailing solo, this is a good opportunity to meet up and engage with your fellow passengers. If you haven’t done so already, you should research the Princess app. Once you book a cruise, you will do all your planning and preparations on the app and then you will utilize the Medallion once onboard. Loads of info on this board for you. Any questions, please feel free to ask as we’re here to help.
  18. I guess it depends on what you enjoy about Carnival. If it’s the party atmosphere, the very casual way of dining, if it’s the toys and bells and whistles you love, then Princess would not be a good fit for you, However, if you’re wanting to slow things down a notch and enjoy a quieter and more elegant atmosphere, then Princess would work for you. Food quality is probably close in comparison as would be the service. Entertainment will not be even close. Princess entertainment is fine, but nothing bold or innovative and certainly not on the same scale as Carnival. For many of us, this is a plus! Depends on how you like to spend your time. I think you should give it a try and experience something different.
  19. We like L101 because it, and its next door neighbour, have balconies wider than the actual cabin! It’s because the fire equipment closet is between them. Love these balconies, but mostly on itineraries with exciting views. Too hot for the Caribbean, IMHO. We don’t even mind the metal front panels.
  20. Yes, it’s open to allow passengers access to the far forward cabins.
  21. Are you referring to the most forward deluxe obstructed view cabins on Royal class ships. Example L101, 102, 103, 104?
  22. I have to admit that I’ve had zero problems with the new app. Everything is exactly the way it should be for our next cruise. I even booked our two complimentary SD (Premier package) and was not asked for payment. I don’t understand why it works for some and not others. I’m sure it’s very frustrating!
