Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. My first thought was, “we’re going to lose our seats if we have to go back to the room to get her passport,” Lol. We only walk around the ship with our phones, Seapasses and tip money. I am sure that I was more irritated than her. She’s a senior in college, so is probably carded on a weekly basis between bars, football tailgates, etc. It was just my gut reaction to my child’s honesty being questioned. And, again I’m not upset, I understand there may have been a reason, just passing on my experience.
  2. Odyssey March 10 sailing? We were on that cruise. We witnessed security asking minors to leave the Seaplex during the Quest as well. But, having the Quest in that location is not ideal. Many kids are just hanging around all of the arcade games in the area, some didn’t even appear to be with their parents, they were just still leftover from the basketball tournament that was held prior. On a side note, my 22yr old daughter was carded at the Quest as security was escorting the minors out. My husband and I, and our 2 daughters (24 and 22) were seated near the railing. We all had the Deluxe package and were each enjoying one drink at the time. She had a Truly so it was obvious what she was drinking. Security approached her and asked if she was 21, she said “Yes”. He asked to see her SeaPass, she handed it right over. Then he said “Is this actually your card?” I immediately said “She’s 22!” He gave me a strange look, then moved on. At the time, I was a little irritated, but in the big picture, probably good that they check.
  3. @T-2 Are you on the March 24th, 6 night sailing? We just got off the March 10, 6 night. Here is the Shows at a Glance schedule. Don't worry about not having a reservation for The Book. I was prepared to reserve it in advance, checked the app regularly for it to open on the first of the month before our cruise (Feb 1). I reserved it the first day it opened. I chose the Night one, 7pm showing, since it worked better for us. But, they ended up canceling the Night one showings due to technical difficulties. They told us not to worry, they added another showing on Night 4 at 7pm, and that our reservation would automatically transfer. Which was so nice of them, except we had a reservation for Teppanyaki for 7:45 pm (reservation made pre-cruise). So, we waited in the Standby line on Night 3 for the 7pm show. I think everyone in the Standby line got in, in fact they opened up the center balcony area reserved for The Key members, so that’s where we sat. Enjoy your cruise! I can try and answer any specific 6 night questions.
  4. Harry, we just returned from our 6 night Odyssey cruise. We had a wonderful cruise and your review was so helpful in our planning. My family agrees with your assessment of the Two70 venue, we loved that area. We had a late afternoon flight and ended up at Hollywood Beach after our cruise. When we walked by one of the bike rental vendors, I knew we had to do it. My family was definitely rolling their eyes, but they agreed it was so much fun!
  5. Excited to follow along! Hope you have a great trip! We’re trying to get to FLL ourselves to board the Odyssey tomorrow. Our flight to FL has been changed 5 times today, currently 2 hours late!
  6. Harry, still loving your review and pics. Almost time for my Odyssey cruise! I did think of a question while packing. Did you notice if closed toe shoes are required for the bumper cars? We usually have sandals or flip flops on. Thanks!
  7. I think this is key, tell the servers on your first day. Since this is a new diagnosis, I realize he may be uncomfortable mentioning it, but I have a strong feeling the wait staff hear this type of request daily. Many people eat low carb or no carb for many reasons. In my experience the wait staff always ask if there are any special dietary needs. Good Luck!
  8. Good to know. We have 2 in our group with glasses/contacts. My Odyssey cruise is in 10 days, I think you might finish this review before I leave. 😉 Obviously teasing, I’ve loved everything about this review! It’s really helped to keep me excited, as the last few weeks pre-cruise dragged out!
  9. My daughters love cold brew, so I understand the difference. I can’t remember 100%, but I think they have found a cold brew from Cafe Promenade on Oasis Class ships. I found this on another site. This is a Promenade Cafe menu. Promenade Cafe serves Starbucks coffee, but is not the official Starbucks location (kiosk).
  10. This is what we do. I usually have a ziploc bag with me, I fill the bag with ice and put it next to the item I would like to keep cool. In my case it’s usually fruit. If the milk is for her grandchildren, they will probably have cups with lids with them. So, they will be more secure in the “cooler”, (looks like a minI fridge, but not as cold). Since she is on the Wonder, maybe Park Cafe would have cartons 🤷‍♀️
  11. I had trouble viewing these particular videos on my iPad as well, but they eventually loaded. Harry, I love your writing style and your financial analysis tidbits. We saw Effectors II on Wonder last year and are looking forward to seeing the first installment on the Odyssey in the Spring. It was a little confusing to see it out of order. But, we enjoyed it more for the performance value and special effects. Our youngest did musical theatre and competitive dance for years, so we can appreciate all of the hard work and dedication these performers put in. Looking forward to the rest of your review!
  12. Referencing the above mentioned “Princess premium desserts,” I think that term is a better description of what you are actually buying. But, the Icon is geared to families with a younger audience who are very familiar with the term “Crafted Milkshakes.” They have been around for a few years and are very Instagrammable. Controversial topic here. But, it’s the truth. Royal will be thrilled every time someone takes a pic with the milkshake and tags them.
  13. We book our cruises about 6 months in advance and often times, our preferred dining time (Early traditional) is full. The last few times I’ve even been told the wait list is full. I immediately book the earliest MTD times that the system allows, so I have something in the system. As the cruise gets closer, I start calling about once a week. I’ve eventually been successful in switching from MTD to Early traditional every time. But, if I wasn’t successful, my plan would be to head to the Maitre d’ as soon as I board and make my request for Early dining, realizing that I may have to wait until night 2, after things start to shake out. While I was at the Maitre d’, I would also ask if they could adjust my MTD reservation times to the earliest available. I think you will be successful in switching to Early once on board, even if it takes until Night 2 or 3. Good Luck!
  14. We are on this cruise as well. The email mentions “to maintain a safe and comfortable speed”. So, this could be correct. We have a ship sponsored excursion in Grand Cayman, which I was considering switching to a private one, but I guess I won’t now. We hadn’t decided on anything in Falmouth, so maybe we’ll just stay on board. Maybe give us more time to try North Star and iFly.
