I'm a physician, Internal Medicine, and am constantly asked to prescribe scope patches. I never, ever write for it. I consider the stuff dangerous, and that dizziness described is part of the side effects. As is the dilated eye pupil and blurred vision on one side, and walking into walls. Please, drink some ginger ale or eat some candied ginger! It is so much safer! I do prescribe Antivert (meclizine) which is the same drug as bonine, for nausea and vertigo. Benadryl will also work just as well. Might not have the exotic allure of a grey patch plastered behind your ear, but they work and are a lot safer.

My wife has used the patch on several cruises. She avoids the side-effects by leaving the last patch on after the cruise until it loses its potency. That way she withdraws gradually. Occasionally she forgets and removes the patch at its peak, and that is when she has the side-effects.

Fun post - and thankfully I didn't recognize anyone in the complaints!! :D
One of our first cruises we shared a table with a family and every single meal the father would critique the food -'it's okay, it's not great, it's okay'. Those words never changed.
Why do some people not allow themselves a great vacation? They hate everything from embarkation to paying their tab. I guess they LIKE to be unhappy...do ya think?
IMHO, some people act blase' [sp?] and jaded because they think it makes them appear "worldly".:p

Thanks for the very informative review. DW has been wanting to try HAL [so far, we have done 3 RCI and 5 CCL], and you have convinced me that perhaps it is time I tried something age-appropriate for a change.;)

Always say I won't, but always do. We have taken two cruises on card points where we only had to pay taxes. On those, the waiters and room stewards really got lucky:D

OMGosh I am not sure I have laughed this hard in the last year. Thank you all for your great stories. I havent been on my first cruise yet (August 24th ;) ) However I have spent some time in Key West and Summer of 07 I watched the Disney Cruise pull away to none other than the titanic tune. My stepmom and I laughed pretty hard and both proclaimed we probably would have wanted off the boat on that note.
On our first cruise [2005 Navigator OTS] we noticed that the song "White Flag" was on the repeating "elevator music" piped through the overheads. First line of the chorus is "I will go down with this ship".:D ALL WEEK!!

On our Valor 2005 Cruise, there was a large group of past Bachelor/Bachelorette rejects!!! Man, were they full of themselves!!! No wonder they were the rejects!!!:p
That's the difference between amateur stars and professional stars:D

No substance affects all people the same. If you don't believe that, work in a bar for a while. If it works for you without negative side effects, don't let what it does to other people scare you off.
