I have always carried the one-time-use paper heating pads (THERMA CARE) that are hot for about 16 hours. I always thought the electric heating pads were not allowed because they are a fire hazard. I would love to be able to take along my electric one instead.

You are correct, heating pads are not allowed. I thank you for mentioning the Therma Care. My daughter and I both use a heating pad at home and will instead bring the Therma care pads.

Has anyone ever been in an ADJOINING signature suite on the Nieuw Amsterdam.

I can't find a picture and I am curious about where the adjoining door is?? do you lose some closet or the vanity.

Trying to get a clear understanding, we would be booking with family, but NOT the same household. If I could see an image of the adjoining door OR hear from a 1st hand account....  I could decide weather to do adjoining or go for JUST nextdoor..

    Thank you

you lose a closet to make room for the door

  3. I just got my second upgrade offer on my  26 day transatlantic October 20th. The first offer I refused and the second came in, and I accepted. Got the exact one that I had my eye on. There are 5 left but the web side shows them as sold out. Very weird. Can't wait to be back at sea.

There are up to 5 inside cabins on port side that will hear the boom-boom-boom of the BB King band until the lounge closes down. If you are normally up until midnight anyway, this should be all right. Otherwise, if you can either move forward a few cabins, down to the one closest to mid-ship, or starboard, and a cabin or two up, you will be fine.

I have been in most of the starboard insides along that passageway on all the Vista and Signature ships, and have never heard a thing.
On one of those cruises I had friends in an inside on port side of the ship, right around your cabin. They retired early, and were bothered by the band every night of the cruise. Sorry, I don't recall their cabin number.

    Ruth,

Thanks so much. I was hoping you'd reply. You always have such amazing information to pass along. I have a call into my TA to make a change.

Looks like if your lucky you could get a second chair to go with the room's dining table for one. I just watched a video of a similar room on the big Z from 5 years ago that had one but even then it was a just a folding chair. Imagine riding the waves down the Atlantic coast while sitting on a folding chair.

I have  a message in to my TA. No folding chairs for me. Lol

Check halfacts.com and there are pictures of Zuiderdam cabin #7014 which is the same type of cabin and should have the same layout. This picture is #7014.  No sofa.

7014 – Zuiderdam | HAL Cruiser Information (halfacts.com)   Cabin #7129 has the same layout in a 2023 picture on cruisedeckplans.com.

Thank you, this is what I was afraid of. I called HAL yesterday and the young man told me they all had sofas. I suspect he may be a newer employee...there was a rooster crowing in the background.🐓

Please remember that a self-administered test in this case means an on-line observed test.

testing is required for our cruise

    from the web site

    Enhanced Protocols

This specific booking and/or voyage follows our COVID-19 Enhanced Protocols for vaccination and testing requirements.

    Vaccination

    • All guests 18 years of age and older must be fully vaccinated. A booster dose is required for guests 18 years of age and older whose final dose of an approved/authorized COVID-19 vaccine is older than 5 months.
    • Only one booster dose is needed to be considered boosted.
    • Guests under 18 years of age do not need to be vaccinated, have a booster dose or apply for an exemption.

    Testing

    • All guests ages 5 and older are required to take a COVID-19 Test.
      • Medically observed PCR test taken within 3 days before embarkation.
      • Medically observed or self-administered antigen home test must be taken within 3 days before embarkation.

Please upload all required documentation to the VeriFLY app for a quick and seamless embarkation process.

I read this as medically observed OR self administrated.  with the picture of the test being proof of negative result.

    Am I reading this wrong?

You can put in your booking number closer to your embarkation date and it will tell you if you need to test.   The requirements are fluid!

I did just that and it says testing required for my cruise over 15 nights . The cruise is only 11 days from now going to Hawaii. The problem is that several people have stated that they spoke to people at HAL office and they said the testing is not required.. Not sure who or what to believe. I saw nothing that said the rules had changed. I just got off the NS a few weeks ago from a 7 day and that trip no testing required.

Out of interest...(actually, just being inquisitive!!) how would this be managed?  Medical Centre has restricted hours.  Is the inroom fridge cold enough for short term storage?

Would I want to be visiting the medical centre regularly to collect medication?  After all, the medical centre tends, by its very nature, to be a focus of people who have ailments?

    Just being inquisitive! 🤔

my daughter needs the med every Sunday. I assume it is open everyday for a few hours. I have a pretty flexible window for getting it. Still need to know hours. will try and find them. We have three cruises this coming year so it is important to know
