Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. (I apologize if this isn't the correct forum; please let me know if it should go elsewhere 🙂) My Beloved and I have cruised for almost 25 years and I'm surprised that we never checked out the infirmary on any of our ships (but neither have our physician friends who've traveled). Well, now he has emphysema (with an oxygen concentrator) and one of the things keeping him going is the joy of travel. So, does anyone have any recommendations regarding cruiseline medical facilities? We realize that, for serious situations, the staff stabilizes and evacuates, as it's not a hospital. It's just that he's had a few pneumothorax over the years and his surgeon is now saying to keep our cruising close to areas with decent hospitals (probably New England/Canada for us since he cannot fly). Most likely, everything will be hunky dory, but the concern chip has been implanted in my worrying Meemaw brain. We'd be using a travel agent (and my uneducated guess is that since travel service clientele is likely older, they might have some experience). But I want as much info as possible and I BELIEVE IN Y'ALL 😁. Thankfully, we haven't needed our travel insurance, but the peace of mind it provided was well worth it, so yes, we'll definitely be insured (including emergency evac). Thanks for any info and please forgive any garbled syntax (my post surgical meds have rendered me mightily stoopid 😏).
  2. Ohmysweetlord, I just re-read this and boy, do I sound like a privileged prissy be-atch! 🙄 No doubt it's the lowest paid folks who, due to no fault of their own, are instructed to enforce the rules and I can't grrrr at them. So, this is yet another reason to attend our Meets'n'Greets. Senior staff will be there and questions will be asked and gentle grrrrrrr-ing given, if necessary 🙂 Btw, Ho Ho and Happy Holiday of Your Choice! 🎄🕎
  3. Whoa, that's outrageous! Your husband's sticky makes me feel happy (waitaminute, that didn't sound right)! Now, I'm going to search out a huge happy face for our cabin. We always put up one of those whiteboards for messages (like we had in college back in the 20th Century) and it sounds like that might be verboten too. Grrrrr...😡 Hmmm, I wonder if they'd dare order us to remove Cruise Critic signs. Or is there any sort of decorative NCL stockholders thing (my Beloved had this hunch and dumped a few bucks in)? 🤔 Anyway, bah humbug, NCL! 👎
  4. Greetings, dear fonts of Travel Wisdom! My Beloved and I are older with some mobility issues, so walking to a car rental office (with baggage) from Pier 66 could prove difficult. Normally, we'd be both flying in and out of SEA (we've got that down to a science!) but this time, we're heading up to BC, flying out of YVR. Does any rental agency pick up from the pier? (Yep, I know there'll be a drop-off fee) Thanks for any guidance!
