Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I mean sail date, not sale date! Wishful thinking.....
  2. I believe they don't credit you for stock ownership until you prove to them that you still own the stock at or close to sale date. Late in 2023 for a late 2024 cruise allows too much time for the shareholder to dispose of the shares after claiming the credit. We have gotten the credit several times, by producing a page from our Fidelity account, showing the holding. But it has always been shortly before the sailing date (maybe 30-45 days)
  3. I am aghast at the way they denied you the perk you understood you were purchasing! I recall when I first read about your happy love story onboard Oceania, and you have certainly been an ambassador of good cheer and resilience during a difficult time in your life, turning into a wonderful story. You deserve much more from Oceania and I for one hope they realize that, before they lose you and your lovely bride to a competitor. No cruise line is indispensable, but passengers like you are indeed.
  4. Last time we cruised from Miami, we took the free shuttle to the Miami Airport Hilton (Blue Lagoon) Despite some iffy reviews, we found it to be just fine, with a very nice pool overlooking a lake. I can't remember the restaurant meal, but it wasn't awful or I would remember it. In the morning we took an uber to the port, which was nominal cost (probably around $25?) and certainly worth it rather than schlepping everything back onto the hotel shuttle to the airport to the Oceania shuttle! Why would we want to do that??? The uber picked us up on the circle in front of the hotel. Easy peasy Enjoy!
  5. In my experience, one can use the otherwise restricted thermal spa area if one has a procedure at the spa. Nevermind that a mani/pedi on board is probably at least $25 more than at home, it does allow you to use the restricted area anytime that day.
  6. if it's a corporation, the corp tax return has the name and percentage share of the owners you could send that with the pertinent names showing and the numbers redacted.
  7. I agree that, depending on your departure country, you may need to meet the 270 day rule. We are sailing from Italy on Nov 11th, and unless I misread the recent Oceania directive relative to our cruise, we have to have at least a booster within the 270 day window. You are wise in any event, to get yourself the newest booster.
  8. So, we are flying into FCO (Rome) the day before our departure, and staying at the airport Hilton. Oceania will allow us to return to the airport arrival area to board a transport van to the port of Civi.., for a fee of I think $75 per person. It's offered on the website under managing our trip. But it is cheaper for us to book a private car from Cab Roma, which will pick us up in front of the hotel at the time we specified. I believe the fee is $134 for the two of us in the car. Preferable on several levels, imho.
  9. I personally don't think the Oceania Alaska itineraries allow one enough flexibility to see the part of Alaska that doesn't hug the Canadian West coast from Seattle or Vancouver north to Seward or Whittier. Alaska has so much to offer to visitors; we flew into Anchorage, rented a car and drove north to Denali, stayed 2 nights in the Princess lodge up north, and another night in the Southern Princess lodge. Easy driving, booked the hotels through the 'land desk' at Princess and joined a one way 7 day southbound cruise from Whittier to Vancouver. That way, we saw Anchorage (a lovely city), and the fantastic Denali landscape, as well as several of the little towns along the southern coastline (Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway) One can also fly to Fairbanks and drive south through Denali toward Anchorage, then onto the ship. I wish Oceania had a one way northbound or southbound itinerary. We'd go again in a heartbeat. It's such a distance from the Eastcoast that it's a shame to not see the mountains and towns in another part of the state. Just my opinion.
  10. I have just booked RomeCabs for the trip from the airport to port. We are actually arriving a day earlier and staying at the airport Hilton, thanks to recommendations from this board. The driver will pick us up at the hotel lobby mid day on departure date. the fare for the 2 of us in a private car is 130 euro. It may be RomaCabs, not sure.
  11. thanks for the heads up. we are not buying a pre nor post cruise hotel package, as I really think they are too pricey. I did check my trip on the oceania website, and it offers a connection to the port from the airport, priced at $69. pp. it is described as 'c/o transportation to port'. not sure what c/o means, but a private car is actually cheaper for 2 than $138., so we'll go that route. Again, thanks.
  12. many thanks. I'll see what information I can find from Hilton about the shuttle. ( a Hilton shuttle?). Or, we'll take a cab if necessary. Best, Jwh
  13. Is it possible to pay a fee and use the ground transportation from the airport (in this case, Rome), to the port (in this case, Civitavecchia (sp?)) if one has not bought the Oceania air plan? We are flying into Rome the day before embarkation, but will stay at the airport Hilton and go to the port the day of our sailing. Has anyone done this?
