Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We've been on the Pride 7 times, and also sailed on the Legend and Miracle, her sister ships. David's Steakhouse is our favorite and we go at least twice per sailing. If you go the first night, you can get a free bottle of wine, which in my opinion isn't the best, but you can purchase any other bottle they have for half off. Great deal! MDR food has always been good, and they have the best by far Maitre D, Ken Byrne, who sings Sinatra and is very talented. I just hope he'll be on your cruise. Alchemy bar has a fun vibe and if you don't see anything on their menu that interests you, just tell your alchemist what you like, citrus or berry flavors, savory or sweet, whatever, and they'll come up with something delicious! Be sure to get a Guy's Burger and something from the Blue Iguana! If you're looking for a quiet, out of the way area to read or relax, on Deck 3 Forward is the Sunset Garden, which fits the bill. The Pride never seems crowded anywhere, except maybe the theater, so get there a little early. Most of all, enjoy your cruise and make lots of memories with your daughter and grandson.
  2. Umbrellas were $22.00 when we were there this past November. Just pick out your loungers and the attendant will set up the umbrella.
  3. Your offers may be related to your most recent cruises. I was getting free balconies, DOUE for myself and companion, with some freeplay also. Last May I was on the Horizon and my husband was diagnosed with COVID. We were quarantined for 4 days, so our gambling was less than usual. Then in October we were on the Legend with our grown kids and 6 grandkids, all aged 7 and under. Again, our gambling was less than usual since we were exhausted every day and night! lol Now I'm getting free Ocean View and Interior with some DOE for myself and companion and some freeplay, but not the same as the previous offers.
  4. We were in Amber Cove this past October. You can rent an umbrella when you enter the pool area. I believe they're $20.00. You pick out the area and loungers you want and they set up the umbrella. We also tipped the attendant. You cant rent an area in the VIP section. When we were there, it was $200. for six people, kids were included in that price, and you would get free WIFI, cushioned loungers, 4 noodle floats, 2 floaties, and ziplining. Not sure if that was a special for a specific time of year or just the regular price.
  5. Yes, my husband and I both got these yesterday. Completed and sent back. Questions were what is your primary reason for cruising, what kind of activities do you enjoy on the cruise, how much time do you plan to spend in the casino, and what is your budget for playing in the casino. I don't know what its about as I've never gotten one of these before. Eileen
  6. The total bill for his visit to the medical facility was $1134.00 and it included the visit, chest xray, blood work, Covid test and medications. I worked in a hospital for 22 years and was very impressed with the facility and the care we got from everyone on the staff.
  7. He was given paxlovid, which was $750.00 and an antibiotic. Everything was reimbursed.
  8. On the Horizon this past May, my husband tested positive for covid, while I was negative. This was on day 3 of the cruise, after my husband was coughing and having difficulty breathing. They offered to move me to an interior cabin (we were in an extended balcony) so I could still enjoy the cruise with our friends, but I stayed with him in our original cabin. Carnival treated us great while quarantined! We were able to order food from anywhere, even specialty restaurants, and they gave us free wifi and movies. The medical team called both morning and evening to see how my husband was feeling, and we were given a future cruise credit for the cruise days missed. Since we had insurance, we were reimbursed for our medical costs and trip interruption. Eileen
  9. My new offers are not as good as the old ones. Still have free balconies and freeplay, but no more Cheers, only DOU. On the Horizon in May my husband tested positive for Covid and we were both quarantined for 4 days so no casino time for us! Hopefully the offers will get better after cruising on the Legend the end of September.
  10. For those of you suggesting that bedbugs will get into luggage no matter where it is stored, this is what the exterminator who treated my house for two weeks told me. Bedbugs live primarily along the seams and corners of mattresses and box springs. They feed on their hosts...YOU! As long as they have food, they have no need to travel anywhere else, so we store our luggage in the closets on a cruise. In our house, after the infestation,we moved out of our bedroom into the guest bedroom and sanitized everything. Shortly after, my son found them in the corner of his waterbed. So once we left our bedroom, they travelled to find another host, my son. Bedbugs may not be a significant issue on a cruise, but trust me, once you have them you'll feel differently. Call me crazy, but I'll do what I can to avoid another incident with these disgusting critters.
  11. Same! We brought home the disgusting critters after a cruise on the Miracle back in 2007. It was an expensive, uncomfortable, inconvenient experience that I hope never to repeat. One thing we NEVER do on a cruise or hotel stay is store our luggage under the bed! I cringe every time I see people recommend this practice. Is it overkill? For us its just a normal practice that takes a few minutes each cruise.
  12. I like to gamble, but I can't be bothered with switching room keys, playing on one card, or asking for an extra card. I bring a set amount to gamble and I'm ok with losing it. My husband plays, but not as much as I do, and he doesn't do max bet. We both get offers, but mine are better. I recently came off the Horizon and have 2 more cruises booked that were port fees and taxes only, balcony cabins, onboard credit and DOU everywhere on the ship. From what I've learned for some Atlantic City Hosts, land casinos look at how much coin in you put through a machine, and length of time played. Years ago they wanted 4 hours per day, but I'm not sure if that's still true. I would think the requirements would be the same on cruises but I also found on another cruiseline that they give offers to the top percentage of players. We were on an Alaskan cruise and there were not many people in the casino for the entire cruise. I got a letter in my cabin to go to the future cruise desk and pick out any cruise for port fees and taxes only. I had a year to take the cruise. Although not a high roller, I guess I played enough to get an offer like this and it hasn't happened since.
  13. I'm in Pennsburg/Green Lane and have been on the Pride out of Baltimore 8 times and have the same experience. All have been 7 or 8 nights. Have not smelled pot either.
  14. Our Beyond cruise last October was booked last minute through the Blue Chip Club(casino), so all the specialty dining restaurants we wanted to visit were completely sold out. Once onboard there was a table across from the Guest Services area that was taking reservations for all specialty dining. We were able to book the ones we wanted and at the times we wanted too. Hope its the same for you.
  15. We have an 8K Legend for 8 days in Sept. for $342.40. Insurance and prepaid grats is another $330.00, but we also have a lot of OBC, casino free play and DOU.
