If this is a Carnival ship excursion, I can't opine on the timing.  But where you dock is a 5 minute walk up to the split.

Very walkable. Unless a lunch is included in the excursion, grab a lunch on the beach at Kareem's tent.  And if you have time a Slushie or Rum Runner from the lazy lizard will chill you for the rest of the day.  Just don't eat there. mediocre, overpriced pub food.

And let me add, for Carnival cruisers coming from US East Coast ports, the ship excursion while probably crowded, would be a better way to go if you have time issues.

Coral Breeze's great private tours operate on Belize time and may return too late for you.

Thank you! Yes this is a ship tour- this was exactly the info I needed 🙂

  2. Just stayed at Westgate Cocoa Beach with my 2 daughters for the Santa skydive event my brother participated in at the pier. Can’t speak highly enoug. My kids didn’t want to leave- we loved the lazy river,  shuttle to the pier, lots of restaurants within walking distance. So clean, amazing  accommodations.

  3. Carnival actually has an option that is just for skylift transportation included. $40 per adult and less for kids ($25?). Then we could purchase one of the 3 or 5 packs to ride multiple? That was exactly the info I needed. Thanks! We paid $80 last time which also included d falls but is like to skip that this time and stay a mm longer.

  4. Has anyone booked direct? We are thinking of booking shy explorer only thru carnival and purchasing bobsled direct. We were there in January - I cant remember prices but I thought they had some sort of a package deal for 3 rides? We each rode it once last year but my kids would have rode all day if I would've let them! TIA :)

  5. We will be cruising Carnival Breeze out of POM Jan 2015. We are looking for a clean, affordable, family friendly motel to stay 2 days prior. I'm a little insane about our trip planning-I know it is very far away :)

Traveling with our two little ones (6 & 8)-we'll want a pool, walking distance to the beach (5-10 minute walk). Next to some places to eat, maybe a drugstore to grab bottled water & wine to take on board.

We just stayed at the Ocean Sky Resort last month. It was on the beach, and close to CVS/McDonalds-but we ended up spending a decent amount of money (and time waiting) taking taxis back & forth the the more happening area of the beach to eat/play. So this time, the family would prefer to stay somewhere in that area.

I did do a search-but couldnt find any recent reviews/recs for the more "mom & pop" type places-only the much more expensive places (such as Westin, Bahia Mar, etc).

Any recommendations? Our first priority would be the pool. Given the unpredictible weather that time of year it may not be beach friendly-we would love to walk there-but don't need to be right on it.

My brother stayed at the Sea Club Resort-seems very affordable but the reviews are very mixed. I don't want to end up in some dump with the kiddos in tow!

    TIA!!!

  6. If we have done stingrays and Rum Point already, will we find this excursion boring???

I don't think so. It is so much different having your own personal guide with no one else. Starfish beach was unbelievably tranquil. You can customize the trip however you like. Captain John us very flexible. This was our favorite excursion!
