  1. My arrival time is 9:00 am. Perfect! I can get up at 6, drink coffee till 7, do my HIbiclens shower and head out. I'm picking up DS Mary Jo at 8:30 and she will be there and drive me home. I'm hoping to be home by mid afternoon.
  2. Oh, my. This place does the same thing with appointments for my primary care doctor. He'll say I need to come in again in 3 months, but the calendar is only open two months in advance. So, the staff has to contact me. By the time they do, it is 4 months. And, they don't call to ask when would be convenient. They send me a letter with a date and time. If I have something else planned, too bad, or I have to call to change the appointment. I would think that would be more work for them, but they seem to like it. Wow on the need for a hotel room. My brother had to go to Ann Arbor for his prostate surgery. My sister drove him down one day and then went back to pick him up the next. I've been lucky that all my surgeries have been here in town. Sometimes, when you need someone highly specialized, you do have to travel a bit. I was surprised that wasn't the case when I needed an endocrine surgeon. They are in short supply and there is one right here in town. Good luck on DH's surgery in January. I hope that solves the itchy, painful eye problems. Thank you so much!
  3. Good morning, everyone. Thank you so much to @0106 Tina for subbing for me. Today is prep day for surgery. I will wash the sheets on the bed as well as pajamas so they are clean tonight. I will take a shower with Hibiclens soap. Depending on what time I report tomorrow, I may take another. Soft foods today and I can't have any food after 8 pm. I can have clear liquids, including black coffee, up to two hours before I report to the hospital. I have to wait until 3 pm to find out what time I have to be there. That is a major pain in the patootie. It makes it difficult to arrange rides. Sue can't take me because she has River and they don't want children in the waiting room. I'm hoping for the 8:30 slot and not the 5:00 am slot. Wishing you all a wonderful day!
  4. Thank you! I plan to milk this for everything I can. Sister Sue already knows she is doing the heavy lifting. @Cruzin Terri What a shame that the doctor has not responded. It is possible that he is off between the holidays. I hope you hear something soon.
  5. That is an interesting question. No, we wouldn't let you starve, but what if we decided to bring Eva @superoma with us? LOL I second what Lenda said. I did get a laugh out of it.

I'll take a look at that!
  7. The same here. We'll coordinate sometime in the future. We coordinate well on the MOD. Yes, she is! Thanks, Jake. I'm sure I am in good hands. Since this is my 3rd surgery in less than a year, I pretty much know the staff well and think of them as good friends.
  8. Thank you! I hope your aide gets well soon. Your teenager sounds like a great kid. Thanks, Vanessa. No nap, I'm afraid. I'm making turkey soup and I'm also going to make up todays MOD with the leftover turkey so meals are made for after surgery. I bought some pasta made from red lentils to try. I did try the chickpea spaghetti and no one knew the difference! Thanks, Carolyn! I can imagine your excitement right now. We are super excited for Hawaii in February! Tina is phenomenal! I am so thankful to her. Interesting note: Tina is doing South America/Antarctica this year and Hawaii next year. We are doing Hawaii this year and South America/Antarctica next year. Tina @0106, we really should have coordinated better! Thanks, Jacqui. It should be pretty straightforward. Thank you! @kochleffel So sorry to hear about the need for Mohs surgery. I hope you have an easy time of it.
  9. Glad it was a minor spill and that you are ok.
  10. Thanks, everyone. It should be a minor surgery and recovery should be quick. I hope.
  11. Good morning, everyone! It was a sleepless night last night. The last I saw the clock was 3:00 am and I hadn't been asleep yet. Not much going on today. I don't know what Sue is planning to do with River. So far River is just watching videos on the tablet. Let's all give a cheer for Tina @0106 who will be stepping in to cover for me while I have my surgery and then recovery period. I still don't know what time my surgery is on Friday as they don't tell you until late afternoon the day before. I do have a ride service covered in my insurance, but I have to give them 48 hours notice. What do people do who don't have family they can rely on for times like this? If you have a lot of left over turkey, you can use it in today's meal. This one is a chicken parmesan style pasta bake. https://www.aspicyperspective.com/no-boil-chicken-parmesan-pasta-recipe/ Instead of a marinara sauce, this one uses diced tomatoes. https://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-chicken-amp-tomato-no-boil-pasta-bake-157548 This one uses chicken sausages and chopped tomatoes. https://cookthestory.com/delicious-no-boil-pasta-bake/ And this last one is a chicken alfredo version. https://fedandfit.com/chicken-alfredo-bake/ Wishing you all a wonderful day! Safe travels for those on the road.

Thanks to both of you. We won't be doing sunrise or sunset due to our time in port, but I'm a volcano nut and want to go to the crater. I take it that the drive is not too difficult.

Has anyone made the drive up to Haleakala on their own? We have a car reserved, but wonder if we should find something else to do. The ship excursion was sold out.
  14. Here is what my mom's chicken and dumplings looked like. And, this one looks to be a bit more tasty as well. https://thecozycook.com/chicken-and-dumplings/ I just ate around the carrots. @StLouisCruisers Great pictures of the family and the fur babies. Safe travels tomorrow. @smitty34877 Glad you are stubborn! It paid off! Great looking family. @Cruzin Terri I'm sorry you are having such difficulties. I hope you can see the rheumatologist sooner as well.
  15. We often order just a pot of coffee for morning so we can drink it while getting ready for the day. Just mark it on the door hanger and put it out the night before.
  16. That looks so much more appetizing, even with the carrots in it. I could eat around those carrots as they are big enough. I had a roommate once who declared that seasoning food would destroy your stomach. Seasoning does not equal spicy hot. It does mean flavor.
  17. Good morning, everyone! I think it is time for a new keyboard. The spacebar is not working and I have to adjust the space between each word. What a major pain. Today is a slow start after yesterday. Sue has left to go pick up River. They will stop by River's great grandmother's house for a visit before coming home. Riv will be here for the week. We will have a small Christmas with her when she gets here. DB Bill was so excited about a doll house he got for her. She will love it. Other than unloading the dishwasher and putting things away, I have nothing planned. Sounds like a good time to binge watch some TV. @HAL Sailer Melisa, I've been thinking of you a lot, especially when I think of going north. Hugs to you. @rafinmd Roy, I hope the one treatment is all you need. Wishing you the best. Today's meal just does not appeal to me. @rafinmd Roy's alternative sounds better. I think the problem is the picture of the meal. It looks so bland and lacks visual interest. If you like your food on the bland side, this is the meal for you! It really is pretty devoid of seasoning. Of course, I am a fan of Paul Prudhomme's Seasoned America. See what you think. https://marginmakingmom.com/copycat-cracker-barrel-chicken-and-dumplings/ This next one has a vegetable base for flavor and looks better. https://www.theslowroasteditalian.com/cracker-barrel-chicken-and-dumplings/ This is another bland as bland can get recipe. https://www.eatingonadime.com/cracker-barrel-chicken-and-dumplings-recipe/ Leftovers will do for me. What about you? Wishing you all a wonderful day. Oh, the space bar has been working perfectly since I complained about it. Go figure.
  18. Good evening, everyone! We had a lovely day here today. It was nice to have all six siblings here today. It has been many years since we were all together for Christmas. Dinner was great and they almost ate up all my stuffing! They claim that is what they came for.
