Carnival Venezia was in Barbados, yesterday
Saturday 7th. October, 2023.
Today's local Sunday Sun newspaper carried an article
revealing that cabin costs will be double what they were! 🫣
I am not happy about that!Does anyone know...
if Carnival is resuming their Southern Caribbean route?
with boarding at both Old San Juan PR -and at Barbados?
- and will Carnival Venezia be 'our ship' for that route?

Royal Caribbean has stepped in
to fill this gap, for us cruisersliving and boarding at Barbados!

They all have issues...They're mechanical boats
constantly running EVERYDAY,
something is going to give from time to time.
Same thing with aircraft: expensive equipment standing still
isn't turning a dollar:
aircraft work pretty much the same way.
24/7 if they can arrange it!

We did Glory twice, out of Manhattan
but that was a hundred years ago now- like 2011 and 2013 -
for the Canada Cruise, out to Halifax and back!
It was a nice ship, back then
but not lively like the Southern Caribbean cruises
we so often boarded here in Barbados
with a bunch of crazy P.Ricans on board... lol
they were fun (sometimes)- 1

..although I will say you can find the “pommes frites”
in various venues around the ships! 🤣
Surely you speak of French Fries!
Pommes frites are a bit more delicately-cut?

I recall two versions of the coin pusher game.
The first version..where the player pushed the coins
along a parallel-sided channel -worked OK
and you'd get a few quarters tumbling over the edge!
Then they got too clever, and came up with a versionwhere coins were pushed along an ever-wider channel,
where your chance of getting anything was near-impossible
That's when I stopped playing what used to be a fun game.
Shown here is the first version where you stood a chance...
on Carnival Victory, back in April 2011!

I've tried...I've tried!
I've even had my wife help, by pushing from behind
but dammit those 44 inch high rails are tough to get over, man!
Anyone else ever tried? and failed? lol

But a factor, nonetheless.
Another reason I never book that very lowest passenger deck.
Thanks for the reminder! -

On 5be last cruise on March, I was told by staff
that you can only buy 2 drinks until you check in for muster..
= Biggest quantum leap in crowd control and compliance!
Frankly, it should be ONE - not two
You can always get sloshed, after muster drill.- 1

How do I get this taken care of
b/c at this point may have to cancel. 😞
You probably should cancel if the requirements are that specific.

It’s not necessary to use the free drink at Brunch…that’s our experience, but it —must—be used on the last sea day….you can go to any bar on that day/evening to claim.
Must be used on that last sea day and no other day.
Never understood the restrictions.
It's like they hope you forget it
so they won't have to give it to you, at all.
Are they that scrimping? Surely not.- 1

Five?? I'd spring for the 2-connecting-cabin option!

It's only Money! lol

I hope not. I like smaller ships.
^ Agreed.
These days, 100-110,000 tons is "smaller"
and yet adequately comfortable all round!
We found Liberty, Valor and Caribbean Princess to just right.

I've used a CPAP on pretty much all our cruises.
Ship's water works just fine,
no need to purchase their distilled water
Living La Vida Loca,
I've even drunk ship's water coming out of the bathroom taps
- and survived to tell the tale!

Not all Carnival cruises are wild and debauched.
We've done 11 Carnival cruises, most of them boarding
at either Barbados, or at Old San Juan PR
to do the Southern Caribbean cruise..
but we also did two Carnival Glory "Canada Cruises"
out of Manhattan NYC -and the difference in vibe-on-board
was sobering: these were no Southern Caribbean cruises
with fiery Puerto Ricans on board! ...It was borderline dull
but at least the itin. was interesting. Boston is nice!
That first Canada Cruise had so many scooters on board
I felt like I was still on Times Square:
our second Canada Cruise had very few scooters.
So it seems like
departure point and itinerary have significant bearing
on what your cruise might be like.

Women have zero idea re. male overheating

originally designed (and necessary for) un-heated castles.
No wonder he groaned. She just wanna look pretty!

I'm guessing you're not the first person with this requirement,
so maybe your concierge/steward can help out?
