Do they have Driver's Ed in Barbados? Why do they still have car wrecks then?

No we don't have driver's edu. classes here...
and btw we love our car wrecks - lol.

We spend our days eating roasted breadfruit on the beach

and dancing the nites away... to the bongo drums!

I live on this beach: address all fan mail

to Aplmac, Barbados. I'll get it!

  2. Some more advanced countries offer Parenting Classes

to prepare  idealistic newly-weds for the grim reality

    of their future with brats!

It's a great idea, actually -bcoz most young ppl

of reproductive age and the attendant urges .. are quite clueless.

    100% nailed it!!!

It is the decline of the American family and discipline, etc.

I see it everywhere, not just cruise ships....

but don't get me started either!😡

    Visitors to my island Barbados

often comment on how very polite and well disciplined

    our island kids are!

Of course we take it for granted (it's just how we are!!)

    but it's true: a strongly-British-Colonial social trend

for the last 300+ years helps!

    A few evenings ago,

a small group of us older folk were chilling out in the breeze

on the Hastings Boardwalk, when three boys aged about 10-12

passed us on their way to the sandy beach,

and they all said Good Evening as they passed our senior presence.

I turned to my wife and mentioned

how nice and mannerly the boys were.

So it's not everywhere: there are still a few holdouts!

Here's a regular Sunday evening grouping of Ye Elderly!

And, there will be about 16 of these rooms, total

    (chill or freeze).

One each is dedicated to each type of protein

    (beef/pork, poultry, seafood).

    Interesting! Many thanks.

I like knowing how systems work.

Unlike many others, I don't take systems for granted.

Or online before the cruise. I ordered several of the 50th anniversary towels before our last sailing.

That's what I did too: ordered online before the cruise

and found it waiting in the cabin, when we boarded.

Towel quality was not great though (you get what you pay for)
    - it was a bit on the flimsy side, but we still have it.

While this is may be true on the older ships,

the air vents in the cabinets on many of the newer ships

are located strategically to take advantage of natural cooling caused by the chimney effect created within the cabinet.

Convection occurs due to the air being drawn in through the lower intake vents and exiting through the upper vents at it warms up by the heat given off from the cooler.

Opening the cabinet door causes the air around the unit to stay stagnant instead of having an updraft.

I'm delighted to hear that tech. suggestions made a decade ago

have now been introduced to improve heat dissipation!

There has been lots of discussion (multiple threads) over time.

Hopefully this new tech. has also been retro-fitted

to older ships as well, per dry dock!

  7. Interesting Carnival cruise card you showed there!

I haven't cruised now for 8 long years

so your card looks different to what I last saw (and collected).
    Seems longer than standard card-size??

If you're not emotionally attached to it

I'd love to add it to my collection (anyone else, too!)

I wish there was "status portability" between Carnival Corp brands.

I know it is a sore subject for some cruisers.

We are Platinum on Carnival, just a cruise or two away from Diamond.

We are going on the HAL Amazon cruise next year

and it would be nice to take our status with us to HAL.

We have done 14 cruises: 11 on Carnival, two on Ocean Village,
    and one on Caribbean Princess.
Every one of them a Carnival Corp. ship!

Yet no portability among them: ridiculous...

  9. My wife says I now rattle when I walk

    due to the cardio-meds I take, post-STEMI.

I swallow about 8 pills a day (and night)
but WTH they keep me alive so I can cruise again, some day!

    And by the way:

Heart Attack and Stroke are the same thing -

Cardio-Vascular Disease.   One manifests in the heart..

    the other.....in the brain.
