Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Does Viking offer (pre cruise) significant upgrades for booked guests? Asking for a friend!
  2. I certainly will take wraps/layers. FYI...it was so cold in the card room that players arrived with down parkas, hooded sweatshirts (using the hood) and blankets. it was not just "cooled" for some that run "hot" it was outright freezing (think meat locker LOL!)!
  3. Recently departed the Mariner. Found the public areas, especially the restaurants, unbelievably cold. Next Regent cruise is on the Explorer. Should I come prepared for another chilling experience on the Explorer? Want to prepare if that is the case,
  4. ADM was excited about the new ship. People were not there for that. I think she was not expecting the grievances (which were not presented to her in a courteous manner) and was unprepared for solutions. However, she did have an assistant that was taking copious notes, so perhaps a follow up to the hard questions would be addressed at a later date.
  5. Jumping in a little late... We were on the 23 WC. Seabourn/Oceania/Viking customers. First time on Regent. We had a fabulous (not perfect) time. We were in a standard verandah suite with absolutely no complaints regarding the condition of the suite (other than the room itself is tiny and the bathroom even smaller... and we adjusted!). Service was great (understanding that we had a lot of newish staff). Overwhelmed by the attention of staff. Food was amazing with a very occasional miss...nothing major. Yes, there were some (minor) disappointments (thats life) and one very major screwup with our passport (which after much time and energy was remedied by ADM herself). We were at the Town Hall meeting. And although ADM probably could have done a better presentation. Most passengers were not courteous or respectful. We had such a great time we booked a 2024 Grand Journey (and cancelled our Seabourn cruise). Just another point of view...
  6. We are planning a November Antarctica cruise on Venture. We are multi Seabourn cruisers. Always dressed up a bit. However, interested if there is a more relaxed attire for the evening dinners for this type of cruise/expedition.
  7. We were on your cruise...and I was also appalled at the appearance of too many guests who were so poorly dressed!
  8. Just returned from Marina's Amsterdam to Barcelona cruise. It was wonderful with great service and good dining experiences (although a few hiccups...it was expected post COVID ie new trainees and supply issues). Sailing with O has always been a pleasure with its sophisticated approach to cruising. However, despite clarity pre cruise and reminders in Currents, there was a lack of evening dress code. For example, in Polo, we dined next to a table where a gentleman wore a t shirt and torn jeans. Other violations occurred nightly. Several times I quietly and politely addressed the situation with the maitre de with absolutely no action other than an agreement that there was a dress code. Also noted my displeasure in the mid survey with no results. The repeated situation certainly diminished the quality of my dining experience. Why have a dress code with no enforcement? My experience with other cruise lines is that if someone approaches the dining area in non approved attire they are politely advised that they may return once they adhere to the dress code. Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?
  9. Hi, We are new to Regent. Will be on the 2023 World Cruise. Since we have always been Seabourn people, wondering if you could so some comparisons between the two lines. Especially interested in the condition of the suites and public areas (Seabourn vs. Mariner). (We chose Regent for the World Cruise mainly because of the itinerary) Happy Sailing!!
