  1. River Rock Resort Casino, near the airport. Take the Canada Line subway from the airport to Bridgeport station stops in front of the casino Will also take you to Waterfront Station, a block from the cruise terminal. Just follow the ant trail of roller luggage.
  2. My Oyster was pre 9/11, pre-TSA, so no TSA "keyhole". It had pretty sturdy locks and TSA had to pry it open ruining the lock and suitcase in the process. Would be easier to teach a rock to swim than filing a claim against the TSA back then.
  3. We have neon colored straps with matching handle wraps. Had a hard side blow out many years ago and purchased a Samsonite Oyster from the hotel shop at 150% of what they sold it for in the states at the time. Best suitcase ever, bulletproof, that is until the TSA began prying open suitcases in their early days. One of our soft sided lasted many trips until it got run over by something (wheel marks) and if it wasn't for the luggage straps our stuff probably would have been all over the tarmac or cargo hold. Our newest suitcases are hard sided and lime green.🤮
  4. How will they know? While your out and about on your excursion, custom officials will sometimes board with their dogs and sniff around.
  5. Additionally the documents required contain personal information of the passport holder and can only be processed at the passport offices for security purposes. No WFH for these folks.
  6. If it's the one on Gaffey Street, it's permanently closed. Maybe replaced with another brand?
  7. Roof top level of the domestic short-term garage. No idea where for the International Terminal.
  8. An extra supply of Rx incase you have a delay in your last major leg getting home. Ship can't dock, flight delay, car broke down or accident, whatever. Enough to get yourself an emergency supply from a pharmacy.
  9. Airport to the city is about 15 miles or about a 20 minute drive until you hit traffic either on the highway, street or both. Hotels/Motels in the city are in the $200+ a night range, cheaper accommodations will be by the airport in Millbrae, Burlingame, or South San Francisco (Oyster Point area). Look around at West Coast Departures forum for recommendations: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/315-west-coast-departures/
  10. Also in your policy documents is a "how to file a claim" insert. Online or a phone call will get the process going.

    Tipping in Japan

Local Hong Kongers, if they're generous, will "round up" the restaurant bill if paying cash. Otherwise they don't tip. As a foreigner, particularly American, you're almost expected to tip them, but you don't have to. If you are aware of the exchange rate it's okay to tip in USD, HKrs have no problem with money exchange. Use credit card or local cash (lots of ATMS) for purchases.
  12. I think if there are any issues it would be security outside of the US. My old story of being In Hong Kong, we left Kid's epi-pen in the backpack and after it went through the x-ray machine, MIB jumpsuits/berets and submachine guns came out of no where. When it was revealed that it was an epi-pen (with Drs note) and not a weapon of mass destruction, the "Lt" waived everyone off, gave Kid a pat on the head, and gave the x-ray tech a "seriously" and "we'll talk later" look before he left. Later this year or next, we'll try it again but with my bag of needles and insulin.
  13. Especially when the container is the size of a 7 oz can of soda and the pills are baby aspirin😎
  14. Long term: see a doctor, get tested for sleep apnea...which may require you to use a CPAP.
  15. MIL has a US green card and was required to have her Chinese passport in possession for our cruise to Mexico (round trip from LA/San Pedro).
  16. We had a couple of Selectrics, I ended up with the ORATOR font. TRS-80 here. I worked at RS, spent a lot of my paychecks getting one.
  17. Lookee.... https://www.indiainnewyork.gov.in/pages?id=WEEvaENpL3VyK3BxTER3cTFYYVJqUT09&subid=VFZTZWc0c1IvNnZTVnpNYk9reVNnUT09&nextid=bk8xMVNSZDB0Q2VpbEhwZVZsUStMQT09
  18. Applied for Kid's third passport at the post office yesterday (1/19) in the afternoon. Clerk said it'll go out later in the evening and the passport people will get it Monday or Tuesday.
  19. Suggestions for places that locals go to eat around Oahu?
  20. While not specifically for cruising, it may be worth the hassle to get the boys a passport. Opportunities may arise that they may have some international travel in the future. Like I just found out that Kid's high school has a European exchange student program for this coming summer, all paid for except the airfare and his million word essay😎. Application (passport info required) due end of March and of course we let his passport expire during lockdown. Now in the process of getting him a new one.
  21. If your situation was more serious with a hefty bill, the adjuster would probably would want an itemized billing including what was diagnosed, treatment, and inventory of meds/supplies provided.
  22. Before the "give-back" a lot of HongKongers immigrated to that area. SWMBO who is Chinese says the food is about as authentic as you can get without going to HK. Have a great trip!
  23. About a 6 minute walk on typical sidewalk surface to the casino and station. Hampton Inn is our go to when we do road trips, so to us it's fine. Ask for a north facing room or one that's away from the street. Not only are they quieter you can also see the planes on final to YVR. No. 3 Road will take you to Aberdeen Centre (mostly Asian shopping mall and dining). 15 minute walk or Skytrain from Bridgeport towards Aberdeen Station.
  24. Or take the Sky Train to River Rock Casio and stay there, it's right across the street from each other and IRC has a bridge way.
