  1. Hampton Inn YVR, Richmond; had shuttle pre-covid, check directly if they still run it. Walkable to/from River Rock Casino and Bridgeport Sky Train station. Depending on what you're looking for it's in an industrial area, but the Sky Train will take you to the cruise terminal one way or the airport the other way.
  2. Welcome to Cruise Critic. You might find your answer by going to the forum for NCL; https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/64-norwegian-cruise-line/ Your question will be best answered by calling NCL directly as they're the ones who will have to make the arrangements for this to happen.
  3. OP. Depends, but be prepared to pay up front. My uncle had a heart attack, eventually passed away 3 nights later. The hospital would not release him to the mortician until the bill was paid in full, cash only. Eventually they accepted a wire transfer from the US. A friend of the family got sick and was unable to return to the US for several months. Since he was there for a long time, the travel insurance company eventually was able to make direct payments to the medical providers. If you used the medical facilities on board the ship, they'll charge your on board account. It will be settled along with your other charges; you deal with the insurance company when you get home. If you can't settle your bill, they'll most likely make you sign a promissory note. In any and all cases be sure to save those bills and if possible your medical file too. Insurance adjusters love to see those bills. Don't know about records retention requirements in other countries, but it's a good bet in some places a week after you leave and the $$ clears, your records will be stored in a circular file.
  4. My Dad would have me run out to 7-11 before housekeeping comes in and restock whatever I could get 😉
  5. I would also think it's one less thing housekeeping needs to check & clean.
  6. While at sea, she'll need to sign up for wi-fi using the ship's system. Note there's a big difference between using wi-fi and mobile data as one will cost $$ if used unknowingly. Please research the difference and plan accordingly.
  7. Beginning Jan 5, travelers from China are required to have a negative test within 48 hours prior to departure. Includes transiting from another country prior to entry to the US.
  8. I've seen Hawaiian Host in SF area Costco; think they're manager specials, comes and goes.
  9. It's been reported/rumored the opposite: The crew will know if you REMOVED prepaid grats/daily service charge or whatever it's called.
  10. Without knowing the terms of the policy, it may just provide coverage for expenses incurred while you are on your cruise and stops once you return home. I'm sure if the broken pinky was set in the ship's med center or onshore ER, those charges would be covered, but once you got home the travel insurance ends, your regular insurance takes over.
  11. SWMBO's been researching this. Most of the Waikiki rental counters open late, 10am, and close early, like 3pm early. Don't know if you can drop off the car after 3, but I usually get someone from the agency to sign off that the car was returned undamaged. SWMBO's friend was there Thanksgiving week and some of the rental counters weren't open. They were walk ups and they went to a few before they found one open. Maybe it was a temporary thing, but best to call the agency directly to check.
  12. Regarding safety: About a month ago folks jacked up 3 marked SF police cars and stole the catalytic converters while the officers were inside the sub-station 🙂
  13. Nowadays you can get an "instant loan" from your credit card that "transfers" the $$ by check or direct deposit to a checking/savings account. The OP's bank keeps sending me emails to do this with a "low introductory APR" for 12 months. The "by check" is the scary part...
  14. REAL ID requirement pushed back to May 2025. https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Real-ID-requirement-for-air-travel-delayed-again-17632261.php IMO It's getting to the point of having REAL ID is pointless.
  15. REAL ID requirement for domestic travel has been extended to May 2025. https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Real-ID-requirement-for-air-travel-delayed-again-17632261.php
  16. I don't think this is the Security Chief's first time around the block dealing with an alleged theft on board. Probably one of the first questions every pax would ask is "Who could've been in my cabin!?" The Chief was probably already looking it up when he hears the word "steal", "theft". And 99% of the time those crew members will deny because they didn't do it anyway. OTH if the Chief is worth his pay and notices a pattern he may actually scroll up the hallway videos for a look see. Probably consult with the XO or Captain before doing anything like a crew cabin search. The OP mentioned that Citibank recorded several attempts before a $1k transaction went through. I get a text & email alert from them whenever something over a $100 comes up that was not a physical transaction. As I mentioned before and without additional info from them, their information may have been compromised before they even got on the ship.
  17. To those that booked. Did you book directly with the property or BW's website? If through BW's website, telling you to contact the owners is 💩 BW's gonna have some 'splaining to do since they're the ones who took your money.
  18. Just wing it. There's a designated ride share pickup area in the domestic parking garage, 5th floor. Taxis are in the roadway islands on the arrival section.
  19. Another vote for T-Mobile. Pre-pandemic SWMBO used her iThing extensively throughout China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Some times the data would drop down to 3G, but that can happen when your in a rural area or on a high speed train.
  20. OR the information was obtained before the cruise by card skimming or data breach. Made its way through the "dark web" and now used.
  21. AND many women do not take their husband's name for culturally or professional reasons.
  22. You or the parents are responsible for providing the appropriate car seats AND installing them in the car for hire be it Uber/Taxi. Violations the parents get the ticket, minimum $475. If parents aren't around the driver gets it. Shuttle buses are exempt.
  23. We did Paradise Cove, nice. Unfortunately they get you back to Waikiki around 10ish and you'll have to Uber/taxi to the port.
  24. Chewing gum is also banned, SGD$1000 fine if caught spitting it out OR spitting in general.
