As has already been explained they simply haven't gotten around to revising the wording on the TA form. Please read the SailSafe requirements by country on ncl.com and you'll see that effective with today's NCL departure(s) which correspond to arrivals on Bermuda on or after October 25, the testing requirement has been eliminated.

I've been through the new terminal and my feeling is that you're making an issue out of something totally unimportant. You walk through the building and when you exit you go on your way to your destination in Puerto Vallarta. It doesn't detract from anything in Puerto Vallarta proper. It's not as if they put this shopping mall on the malecon or in the Zona Romantica.

Brooklyn Cruise Terminal disembarkation

I may be wrong but I don't think the OP was asking about accessibility for handicapped persons. -
Transportation from RI to Manhattan cruise terminal.
njhorseman replied to cynski8's topic in East Coast Departures
I recommend going in a day early, particularly in the winter where a snowy day an easily disrupt any form of transportation. Going by train is certainly a good choice. If you want to drive because of the cost of hotels and parking in Manhattan I'd recommend staying overnight in nearby Connecticut...perhaps the Stamford area...or in Westchester County NY, and then making the relatively short drive to the cruise terminal the next morning. Hopefully someone who lives in that area can make specific hotel recommendations . When driving in we always park at the cruise terminal. It's $40 per night, not cheap but quite reasonable for Manhattan and very secure and convenient. In the winter make sure you have a snow shovel, brush and ice scraper in the car as the parking lot is on the roof of the cruise pier. Since you live in Rhode Island you undoubtedly already have that in the car. -
The requirements table you've included in your post are those for passengers arriving in Bermuda prior to October 25. They were correct for your cruise, but today marks the first NCL cruise departure that arrives in Bermuda on or after October 25 so what you've quoted is no longer correct as the testing requirement has been eliminated. If you look at the current SailSafe protocols by country on ncl.com you'll see that what you've cited is no longer correct. Protocols change. You can't assume that what was correct for your cruise last week is correct today, and in this case it isn't.

Brooklyn Cruise Terminal disembarkation
njhorseman replied to mushroom's topic in East Coast Departures
As I mentioned on your other thread I don't recommend taking a taxi because of recent problems that have been reported with drivers ripping off passengers. Even if that were not an issue you can encounter a line for taxis. Since you are on a fairly tight timeline l suggest pre booking a car service. -

Doesn't your airline permit you to check in 24 hours prior to your flight using their app or website? You shouldn't need 2 hours to clear TSA and get to your gate. -
In the next election? No, that's way off. Recreational use is currently only legal in 19 states and only 5 states are voting on legalization this November. Even if all 5 states approve legalization recreational use would still be illegal in a (slim) majority of states, not just a couple of states. The decriminalization adopted by many states doesn't equate to legality. https://www.cnet.com/news/politics/marijuana-laws-by-state-is-pot-legal-where-you-live/#:~:text=According to the National Conference,New York%2C Nevada%2C Oregon%2C

Absolutely.

If they're doing it for their own reasons then they need to change their published Sail Safe protocol that states fully vaccinated passengers will not need to test to embark. The only stated exceptions to that general protocol are for countries requiring testing. I still believe Oceania is just late in adjusting its protocol for embarkation in Greece.
-
Oceania's published protocols worldwide do not require testing of fully vaccinated passengers unless destinations require it. Since Greece eliminated its testing requirements there's no reason for O to continue the requirement as it would be contrary to their published protocol for every other country not requiring testing. As I've said twice already on this thread O just appears to be late in reacting to the Greek government's changes and I would expect O to revise its protocols for Greece shortly.

Yes, Bermuda's statement on the form about requiring a test is incorrect. They haven't gotten around to updating the travel authorization form. Hopefully they will do that soon.

Brooklyn Cruise Terminal disembarkation
njhorseman replied to mushroom's topic in East Coast Departures
You're taking a real risk if you're going to disembark at 8:30 or 9 and have to be at the airport by 10. Even if you could instantaneously jump into a taxi...and I wouldn't depend on being able to do that...the trip from the cruise terminal to LGA that would be about 30 minutes in light traffic could take an hour or even more if traffic is heavy due to volume, accident(s), weather or road construction. My first recommendation is to book a later flight. If that's not possible then book a limo or car service in advance, but even that doesn't guarantee you'll be able to get to LGA on time. Even a pre booked car could be late in getting to the cruise terminal and even if they aren't that still doesn't address the traffic issue. Note: I know I told you in an earlier post that you could make a noon flight...but my assumption was that you would be disembarking a touch earlier and that you didn't have to be at the airport any earlier than 10:30 or so to make your flight. -
Testing of Vaccinated October 25, 2022 onward no longer necessary
njhorseman replied to cellfree's topic in Bermuda
No testing is required for arriving passengers on and after October 25 even if you're not vaccinated. However unvaccinated passengers have to provide proof of travel health insurance that covers COVID illness. https://www.ncl.com/travel-requirements-by-country https://www.gov.bm/cruise-travel-authorisation -
Driving to Cape Liberty - Where to stop for the night????
njhorseman replied to teacherman's topic in East Coast Departures
Having spent all too many nights on business travel in a Red Roof Inn in another Pennsylvania city I would not recommend that chain to anyone. Perhaps the one you're recommending is better than what I experienced but for me they're an automatic "no" unless they're the only hotel in a location, giving me no other choice. -
Earlier this month POTUS said he would ask secretary of Health and Human Services and the attorney general to review how marijuana is scheduled under federal law. It's giant leap from POTUS making that request to concluding that marijuana won't be illegal for long.

cruises *OUT* of Manila, Philippines
njhorseman replied to mandwcruise's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
Your favorite cruise search website is wrong. There are a few cruises from Manila in 2023 . Silversea has two departures from Manila in February 2023, one each on Silver Shadow and Silver Spirit. They're listed on cruisetimetables.com, along with two other cruises. I verified on the Silversea website that the two February cruises from Manila do indeed exist and are available for purchase. I didn't bother to verify the other two cruises. -
The required proof of travel insurance is for unvaccinated passengers only. Vaccinated passengers have to upload their vaccination records, but not proof of insurance. In either case, the proof of vaccination or proof of travel insurance has to be uploaded with your Travel Authorization application and you'll find out before your cruise whether your vaccinations or your travel insurance meet Bermuda's requirements. It's not going to be a surprise rejection on embarkation day.

Driving to Cape Liberty - Where to stop for the night????
njhorseman replied to teacherman's topic in East Coast Departures
I can't speak from personal experience in making this trip but based on some knowledge of the area if you're driving via Route 80, Stroudsburg, PA might be a reasonable place to overnight. It's about 1.5 hours from there to Cape Liberty . There are several chain hotel properties in the area including a Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn and Suites and Fairfield Inn and Suites, as well as some independent hotels. -
It's NCL's website, not Bermuda's, that uses the 10/22 date because NCL's reference date is for NCL cruises departing on or after 10/22, while Bermuda's rule and its website refer to passengers arriving in Bermuda on or after 10/25. The dates don't conflict because NCL's 10/22 departure arrives in Bermuda on 10/25 and therefore is not subject to a testing requirement.
-
I checked and the website does say the same thing...and it specifically cites October 25 as the vaccination requirement changeover date. Effective on 10/25 vaccinated guests don't have to be tested but unvaccinated guests do but can use a self test. Clearly the October 25 and later requirements with the self testing for the unvaccinated are Celebrity's own concoction.
-
Celebrity, or any cruise line can require its passengers to be tested even if the cruise's ports of call don't require it. In this case Celebrity is requiring a test for unvaccinated passengers even though Bermuda is not. I think allowing unsupervised self testing makes a mockery of the requirement. It's outright pathetic.

That's only because Oceania hasn't yet gotten around to updating their protocols . The Oceania employees you or your TA speak to don't know anything more than what they're told. They read from a script. I fully expect O will soon update their protocols for Greece to reflect the latest requirements. Bermuda and Canada recently changed their protocols and O updated theirs in response, but it took some time to do it. O's corporate sibling NCL usually updates their protocols a bit more quickly than O does.

We visited the caves about 35 years ago so I have no recollection of how long it took . At the time only Crystal Cave was open to the public. Fantasy Cave opened some years after that. Per their website, caves.bm , each cave tour takes about 35 minutes. You may have to wait to start your tour if they're busy. I'd recommend that you go to the website to get more information.

You can do it on your own. Take the Blue Route ferry to Hamilton, walk to the bus station and take the #1,3, 10 or 11 bus to the caves. Or take the Orange Route ferry to St. George and then the #1,3, 10 or 11 bus to the caves. If you're on NCL (and looking at your schedule I suspect you're not) you can take the free NCL ferry from Dockyard to St. George and then the bus to the caves. One word of caution. Since you have a substantial amount of travel to get to the caves and back (I'd allow 90 minutes in each direction) it will eat into your available time at the caves. Just give yourself adequate time, particularly on the return trip. Sometimes bus and ferry runs get cancelled and there can be a substantial wait until the next ferry.
