As a short term solution....do you still have the old app or can you reload it and order your Medallions through that? Just a thought....

The old app wouldn’t ballot me to order the Medallions.  😟

@San10s My assumption would be in this case that you haven’t completed all the check in steps so no “boarding pass” tab (blue or green) and you are too far out from the cruise for “luggage tags”.  Can you confirm any of these?  It might to understand if it’s an anomaly that some have these and some don’t

Thanks for thinking about this with me.  So here is the problem ….

My husband shows Green Lane as he is signed to the Credit Card for the ship’s billing.  you cannot opt out of including the 2nd payment details & I refuse to put my info & Credit card info on the ‘Shoreside’ payment section.  So now that I refuse to give that info to a 3rd party, it will not let me order my Medallions (I know we can get them when checking in but supposedly that is a perk of having it shipped since I have Princess Plus).  All this means I have not completed my check -in!  As a long time cruiser on Princess, this is really ticking me off! 😠😠

    Happy New Year!  🎉🎉

In the new app, there are six tabs underneath the name of the ship you'll be sailing with the number of days until embarkation.  Those tabs are:

All Set! - Complete steps prior to arriving at port

Packages - Get the most from your vacation

Boarding Pass - Proceed to Blue Lane

Luggage Tags - Get the most from your vacation

Excursions - Discover more in each destination

Spa - Relax, Recharge and Rejuvenate

Green check mark and Blue Lane are completely unrelated.  🥴

    My tabs are….

    Check-in

    Book Dining

    Packages

    Excursions

    Spa

They can call themselves "Dumb Squats from He!!" for all I care if I don't have to stand in that stupid line and either pay off the remainder of my onboard acct in cash or get back the unused cash deposit I made to stay out of the Princess auto-charge status. Not at all worried about some Princess affiliated company doing unauthorized charges as its easy enough to handle on land. And yes, when I requested/paid to have my medallion shipped they charged me

    You do you, I'm green

Ha, ha, ha! See you in the Blue lane soon!  😜

@TravelingNana @Sea Hag @nazpaz why all this fuss about the Shoreline Transaction function? What am I missing? I can still use my cc instead of charging to my room, the shoreline stores NOT OWNED BY PRINCESS don't have my actual cc# until I present that card, and my card is as safe within both ship & shoreside tab as it would be only within ship tab. What am I missing??

I understand Princess wants me to charge to my room (which is why they want me to authorize shoreside transactions) so they get 10% (17% - 7% to me) but I control access to my card, not them

So you are willing to add your credit card information into the Shoreside transaction tab… to a company called Radiqal Gaming LLC?  Into their data base? …..even if you plan not to ever use it?   Are you okay with being forced to do that in order to get into the Green Lane or in order to submit your order for your Medallions to be shipped to you?

We should be able to opt out of the Shoreside CC requirement.

I just sent a message to AskOceanMedallion@carnival.com (the app support email address for the new Princess Cruise app).  I reported that on the new app Ocean Ready will not complete unless you enter the Shoreside payment method.  If others have this issue and report it they might be able to identify this as an issue that needs to be given priority status.

I am pretty update that Princess is forcing us to register a credit card with the ‘Shoreside Transactions’ in order to be in the GREEN Lane! I have a CC on file for our ship’s account but I DO NOT want a 3rd party keeping my credit card on file.  I don’t shop on shore with a CC.

Since I refuse to register any Shoreside credit card info, I am in the Blue Lane…. And as punishment for failing to abide with their demand, they won’t let me complete our Medallion Order!!! (Which should be shipped to me since we have the Plus Package!! 😠). I will be sending off an email to express my dissatisfaction with this process.

  7. My favorite way to start a our cruise… sitting with our best friends,

in the Good Spirits bar, with our first cocktails…. until the Dining Room opens for lunch.  Although several choices for appetizers, main course and dessert, I’m truly there for the dessert!….. my first soufflé of the cruise! 😉😁❤️

After all the hustle and bustle with getting to the airport, flying, car service to the terminal, dropping off luggage, boarding process…. I am ready to sit & relax with a drink and a great lunch.  It always feels like home to me when I finally step on board.  4 Weeks to Go! ️🛳❤️

  8. With many Princess cruises under our belts, we have never booked the Sanctuary.   We would be interested in booking one of the Sanctuary Cabanas.  I believe the Cabanas have two chairs in the Cabana and I believe 2 lounges in front in the sun.  How many people can the Cabanas hold?   We are cruising with my sister and BIL and thought we might share one.  If the Cabana was at a cost of $220, would each couple have to pay $220?

Thanks for any info you can provide. 😎

After looking more closely at how Princess determines cruise length, it seems that Princess uses days and nights interchangeably.  It looks like Princess doesn't count disembarkation day as a day added into the length of a cruise.   So, your 15 night Royal cruise is most likely considered to be a 15 day cruise as well (even though you will be on the ship for 16 calendar days.  You probably won't need to test if you're vaccinated on your cruise but it still won't hurt to double check with Princess before embarkation day.  Enjoy your cruise!

( I just looked at a 35 day HAL cruise I have booked, and they are counting disembarkation day as one of the 35 days.  Go figure, HAL is a Carnival subsidiary and Princess is a part of the Holland America Group in Carnival Corporation.)  What a shock that there is no consistency...  😲

Thanks Dan. That’s how I interpreted it as well. I will still be waiting for Princess to put it on my cruise docs / Medallion! 🙄🙄

Great news. But does a 15 night Hawaii cruise from LA count ?? Anyone have an idea. I think the 15 nights seems to fit as it says 16 nights or over but what about the ‘trans-ocean’ part? Or does that mean going from one side of the ocean to another?  Cheers

Yes.. your cruise would be under the new process of Vaccinated passengers would NOT need to have a Covid test.

We are on the Royal 15 nights and 16 days…. So no testing required.

“No pre-cruise testing for vaccinated guests on voyages of up to 15 nights (guests 5 and older) with the exception of full Panama Canal transits, trans-ocean and other special itineraries; unvaccinated guests must provide a negative self-test result taken within three days of embarkation (unvaccinated children under 5 years do not require pre-cruise testing)”

Hmmm... Sounds like it might not work for me. I'd slide the clip on my pant's pocket or my belt. If it's that tight I might not be able to do so. Ah, well. We don't have another cruise booked until December. Given my proclivities I'll probably procrastinate and not get a holder. D'Oh!

They work great on belts and thicker fabric like shorts compared to my light weight cotton tops.   My husband really liked his.  He even put in on the waist of his bathing suit so he didn’t lose it.   We have done the lanyards on many cruises and these clips changed that for us.

sounds like you might need to book another cruise between now & December! 😉  We are heading out on November 5th on the Enchanted Princess for a 14 day repositioning. Then a long wait until March…. Maybe! 😂

Well obviously I did not look very close!  And I looked on Amazon.CA, not Amazon.COM so perhaps that's why I didn't see them.  Likely I just missed them! LOL

I went ahead and ordered the ones @Thrak posted, so all is good.  They are the same style, which is what I really like about the ones purchased by @San10s.

You can see how safely tucked into the clips the medallion is.

@San10s How strong is the clip on these? Does it grip firmly? I'd like something that holds tightly to whatever it is clipped onto.

I can’t even pull the clip up enough to slide it over my shirt collar or on my short’s pocket.  I had to wiggle the material into the clip section to put it on..  I felt it was very safe and definitely never fell off.

I'm sure others will chime in with some other things to do but thats a good rough outline.

Thank you so much for your insight… and so quickly too.

Since 3 couples will be splitting the cost of the  ‘family van’ for the 36 hours, it makes a very affordable option and will probably give us the best access to do the sightseeing.  I love the idea of seeing other areas near Honolulu.  Right now, via Priceline, the 2 day rental price is $315.  I’m sure gas is crazy expensive but we are prepared.

Again, thank you for taking your time to answer and point me in some direction.

  15.

    Greetings CC Cruisers!

This is our (3 couples) first cruise to Hawaii.  We will be on the Royal Princess.  I am thinking since we now have an overnight in Honolulu that we will rent a 7 passenger van for 36 hours.  Our first priority is to spend time at the Pearl Harbor Memorial.  We will make those reservations when we hit the 2 month out mark.  After that, we all want to see the beauty of the island, spend some beach time, enjoy some Hawaiian food, etc.

I have a couple questions if anyone here has done this on a past cruise.

    1.  Is there an overnight parking lot near where the Royal will be docked?

    2.  Is there a shuttle to the Inouye International Airport from the pier? Uber’s?

    3.  Any thoughts on itineraries including sights to see, off the beaten path gems, great restaurants, etc.?

    4.  Any pros or cons to this idea?

Lots to plan for San Francisco, Hawaii … and on board!! 😳😉

Thanks for any and all input!

After selecting your date and time, you are asked what which dining room you are interested in.  After selecting that you go to confirm your selection and on that page your cruise payment method shows up.

Thank you.  I tried it again and found It finally….. it didn’t load the first few tries.  I probably was a little impatient! 🙄

  17. I am a seasoned cruiser with Princess and have enjoyed many meals in the Princess Specialty restaurants.  I have booked those while on board and used OBC.  I went into my Medallion App today and made reservations in the ‘Dining My Way’ section for on couple of dates.  I cannot find where I pay for those reservations.  Princess does not seem to have a place to  pre-purchase Specialty Dining first and then make the reservations either.

Any insight you have would be appreciated. Thank you

Not everyone will be settling.  There's a lot I like about the Ruby but the buffet design is so congested and it's is just smaller in every way, including a rather lackluster piazza IMO.  But the biggest indictment from me is that they don't have violinists.

I’m not sure if there will be violinists but on their sister ship, Regal Princess, there were a pair of violinists playing almost daily.  Same for the Sky Princess when we were on board over Christmas last year.

I'm sorry I don't have any answers for you but I'm blown away by what this could mean.  Are you saying that the Royal will be sailing out of SF on the Hawaii itinerary?  It doesn't show on their website yet if that is the case.  I would love to take the Royal out of SF on any itinerary let alone the Hawaiian one.

Princess announced that bookings for the Royal Princess out of San Francisco will start on April 7th. That gives them a couple weeks to put those of us that were on the Ruby into our ‘new’ cabins on the Royal.  We are doing the March 27, 2023 15 day cruise to Hawaii.  We can’t wait.  😎

  20. Tracie…. I so appreciate your ‘LIVE’ cruise reports and answers to inquiring minds!  Thank you so much for letting us travel along with you.

We will be back on the Regal for the first 2 weeks of February and it will be our first B2B.  Your info on the turnaround day is very helpful even though this well seasoned cruiser has a good handle on cruising usually.

We head off to FLL next weekend to board the Sky Princess for another first…. A Christmas Cruise.  I’m hoping to do some live reports from there. Like you, the ship is our destination for 10 days.

    Merry Christmas!  🎅🏼🎄🤶🏻
