  1. Yes, they were sold at Headliners and they were $209 each. There was a staff member right when you walked in that you got a ticket count number for each pass you wanted to buy and then brought them over to a cashier who reminded you of the new price.

i didn’t take a picture of the lunch menu, but it was the same Haven lunch menu we have ordered on the Breakaway courtyard in the past with burgers/sandwiches . It isn’t the Haven dining room lunch menu.

You will I’ll need to ask previous Vibe purchasers if this was included in the past since this was our first time in Vibe. I don’t believe it was a previous inclusion since I never remember

reading about it as a perk prior to the price increase.

This was part of my longer review from my 5/12 Escape Sailing to Bermuda I just posted. I though it deserved it's own thread as I know the Vibe passes are a popular discussion.

19th deck bar: I found this little hidden Gem. Never crowded when I went and ended going there a few times to catch up on the PGA. This is the bar which is right to the right before you enter the Vibe. The Vibe Bartenders service this bar. I got to speaking to one of the Vibe’s bartenders, her name was Febry. Great personality. She gave me a tour of the Vibe and told me to comeback tomorrow and she would let me spend the day there. I did not however because we were in Bermuda and spent most of the day off the ship. She did mention to me that they have not sold out of the Vibe passes since they raised the prices (I think about a month and ½ ago).

    Thanks for posting this!

We were on the May 5 voyage and bought Vibe passes for the 1st time. The staff told us only about 25 passes were bought for the previous week and only 44 for our week.  Whether this low count is due to the increased price or just due to people expecting lower temps traveling to Bermuda is anyone’s guess. Many people speculated that it would once again quickly sell out for the summer sailings.

The staff as you indicated were exceptional. Febrie, Carla and July provided great service all week. We didn’t realize that they had coffee/pastry in the morning and you could also order lunch from the Haven courtyard sandwich menu. They also brought around little sandwiches, fruit skewers and cookies throughout the day.

Would have preferred the lower price, but we still felt we got our money’s worth. We have done a Haven room before and always thought the Haven sundeck was subpar without a bar.

  3. Thanks Captain-John for all the info and everyone else’s additions!

i know that you were in the YC, but did you notice in the dailies what were the fixed dining times in the main restaurant? We booked an Aurea cabin for one of the Canada trips out of NYC so we have anytime dining. It looks like we can save a lot of money downgrading to a Bella or Fantastica cabin, but you then need to select a fixed time.

With the downgraded Aurea drink package, no other Aurea perks interest us enough to pay the substantial price difference for just anytime dining.

    Thanks!

  4. So it appears only the Excel suites will have access to the loft 19 with the exception of anyone buying cabanas in that area if Excel passengers don’t buy them. I know that MSC had Cabanas in their suite area but the cabanas weren’t available for purchase by anyone not in the Yacht club accommodations, but Carnival wants to ensure they are always filled.

As described, it appears that only the highest level Excel suite would also have access to the Havana area. There is no mention of Excel or non-Excel suites having access to the Havana Area so there would appear to be roughly 150 suites that don’t have a perk of a separate sun deck area.

  5. It was a very interesting track and I enjoyed it since it was very unique for ship tracks. Really enjoyed the hill which was nice since there were no chaises to sidestep there. Wind wasn’t too bad on sea days, but some areas are more exposed than others. It is tight heading towards the rooftop garden and not especially safe cutting through the garden since staff were around the area and sometimes chairs blocked it a bit.

overall liked it since there was a little less tourist traffic with the way they designed it compared to other ships. Have a great trip!

  6. She was only on the Edge inaugural western cruise 1 day. She said a few words before the deck party and saw her walking around with the Captain. There were rumors of a QA, but not sure if it ever happened. Maybe we had an unreasonable expectation. We expected many more events and her being around for most of the week, but I guess she met her requirement since she did cruise for a day on the same ship.

I believe they don't allow changes;  however nothing is ever written in stone on MSC and they may, under certain circumstances, allow it.  There will be other items on the menu besides sushi, anyway.

As an FYI ... I've read somewhere on here that Eataly is being replaced with the French Le Bistrot on Meraviglia (which makes sense as Butcher's Cut is a steakhouse, too).  I don't know if this will happen before she heads off to New York for her US-based season.

We are in the same situation. The website indicates a new tapas restaurant and Ocean cay are being added soon. I thought the tapas was slated to replace Eataly, but haven’t seen officially what Ocean Cay would replace unless they could fit both in the Eataly space.

we also don’t eat sushi so would prefer a different combination. Was hoping that maybe they will make the changes during the transatlantic and have the new restaurants ready for New York.

  8. One thing to keep in mind is that the Mardi Gras roughly will have roughly the same number of passengers as the Harmony. The Harmony is 46,000 tons larger to better handle the number of passengers. Most of the early feedback from other posters on the Mardi Gras also relates to having too many passengers for its size.

Carnival hasn’t said much about the entertainment yet, but you can probably expect a few new 30-40 minute playlist productions. Hopefully the main theater will be improved over the current Vista class Liquid lounge which has terrible sight lines in much of the theater.

  9. Noticed in the fine print that it is only combinable with certain promotional rates. Our Meraviglia cruise to Canada booked currently doesn’t have any of those rates available and the standard rate is much higher so there are some voyages it doesn’t work for.

  10. Won’t make me pay for another Edge sky suite to see them gone, but happy that Celebrity isn’t afraid to admit that this oversized designer chair has no business being in this size cabin. Hope they realize the rocker money should have been spent on a table or better balcony furniture.

I don’t know how I or anyone else missed this, but on the Carnival Cruise Line FB page, there are some renders that I don’t think have been posted anywhere else. One of them just so happens to be the Havana area and pool.

Fortunately, this looks better than a glorified hot tub to me!

All in all, it still looks like a really nice and secluded area for guests in the Havana staterooms. And, although there are certainly a lot of cabins above the area, it isn’t too much different than the cabins that overlook Havana on the Vista class ships.

Thanks! Still looks about 1/2 the size of the rear Havana area on the Vista class ships based upon the deck plans. Someone had mentioned 80 rooms have access so expect chairs to be at a premium. Expected a substantially larger ship to have a better Havana area so quite a disappointment.

I dont even see the boat listed on the ships page of the website. How are yall seeing the schedules? Can someone link it to me. I can find the ships page if i google it but it doesnt list her under the ships when searching for a cruise.

Just choose New York departures for Sept 2020 and you will see the 6 day Canada and a 15 day repo to Orlando. You can see routes/category prices, but can’t book yet

  13. Looking at the same timeframe. The 2nd and 3rd weeks of March are peak for spring break. Some, but not many have the 1st week. April always concerns me due to school vacations, but I would expect that 1st week might be safer with Easter being later this year.

I wouldn’t expect the weather to be that much warmer with the early April date to make that much difference in using the outdoor spaces. Usually you can get outside comfortably  by the afternoon on the 2nd day.

  14. Yes, we also feel that Luminae was an epic fail on Edge especially with the suite prices being charged. You shouldn’t have to provide requests 24 hours in advance especially for those items available on an everyday menu in all other dining rooms. We know food is subjective, but we didn’t find anything that special that we ate there and thought the specialities we far superior.

  15. Hcat, we had dinner while we were in port in Cozumel. Food and service were great, but horrible setup. There is nothing to block wind around the dining area either. It was even cold with the wind while in port and many people took the blankets they hand out at night and were wrapped around them while eating. They need something like the plastic around the S class lawn club grills.

We talked to a few others who had dinners scheduled and went up there and it was too windy and they switched to lunch when it would be warmer.

They do have plenty of padded sectional sofas/chairs in addition to the hard wooden benches that are in the terminal that are very uncomfortable.

They did have movies at night up there but they usually were around 8 which overlapped dinner. They did have live music up there along with football games on the tv. Area is kind of a tough sell at night due to the wind and also being so far away from the dining/entertainment on the ship.

After this incidence, we chosen not to return to Luminae.  We thought the staff was very pretentious and the food unappealing.  Not a good first impression at all. We did tell the sommelier in Normandie and also the Bar Manager.

We also felt similar about Luminae last week. Don’t understand why Celebrity wouldn’t anticipate problems with these limited menus and the removal of access to the main dining menus.  Asked for shrimp cocktail the 1st night and were quickly told don’t have that, only what’s on menu. Go up to the Retreat sundeck next day and they have shrimp cocktail for lunch, but not available at night. Then we were told to tell them in the morning if you wanted something different than what’s on the menu for dinner. You shouldn’t have to do this when you are paying this type of money for a suite.

we were tempted to order off the kids menu one night since it looked better than the regular menu one night.

We were speaking to one of the corporate staff one night and he was shocked that we weren’t getting anything we asked for in Luminae so obviously not everyone is on the same page yet in expectations.

  17. We just got off Sunday. We ate 4 nights in Luminae and in Fine Edge, Le Petit Chef and Rooftop garden. We also did lunch on the Magic Carpet.

With the disclaimer of food-being subjective, we enjoyed the specialities much more than Luminae. Many were complaining of the limited Luminae menus and as the week went along they were being more flexible providing something else if you let them know in the morning.

We enjoyed the Rooftop food/service the most. It is compromised with always having wind since there is no enclosure around the restaurant. We ate there while docked in Cozumel and quite a few had the blankets given out wrapped around them due to the wind. They really should redesign the area for future ships.

Fine Cut, food was very good, but food/drink service was slow for us. Even the Maitre’D brought us the dessert menus quickly followed by the waiter obviously feeling things were too slow.

Le Petit Chef was a lot of fun. We selected the full animated menu. Thought food was very good except for the unattractive looking dessert. Dining took a while since they obviously didn’t tell everyone that the animation timing is dependent upon people finishing their courses somewhat on the same time. We had a table near us send back their French onion soup and waiting for another one and others savoring it like it was their last meal while the rest of the room were long done and staring around waiting for the show to continue.

Magic carpet lunch - thought the food was great, but once again not really practical with all the wind from the open front side of the carpet when at sea. They also shouldn’t serve potato chips with the sandwiches since the staff was constantly cleaning them up when the wind blew them everywhere.

Can you confirm what another user said that you cannot lock or unlock your patio door from the outside?  I figured that you would be able to enter the room from the patio using your card.

Correct, there was no way to lock/unlock from outside on the Horizon. We always made sure we had any valuables in the safe and just closed the door on the way out to the lanai. Not ideal, but we were the last cabana cabin next to the lanai so we preferred this method rather than looping down the hallway and then through the Havana bar.
