  1. I think you all already know that Baltra and Quito are in different time zones. It shouldn't be a problem. It is more confusing when you get off the ship in Baltra because ship time = Quito time. So the clock changes the instant you get off the zodiac on your return trip to Baltra.
  2. When you go on the Teleferico, do that as early in the day as you can before the clouds roll in. We had a thick blanket of clouds that obscured our view of Quito initially. After half an hour or so, we got lucky and had a break in the clouds.
  3. I can see a couple of kayaks on the bow in this photo I took when we were at Puerto Ayora in late November.
  4. When you are writing your post, you can add photos easily via the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." at the bottom of the posting window.
  5. Posting a review on the main Celebrity board is tons better as you pointed out and you will get really important Q&A that cannot occur in the Cruise Review section. Also it is nicer to embed your photos in a post than as attachments in a cruise review.
  6. On our Xpedition sailing last November, there were Celebrity naturalists at the GPS terminal to receive all passengers including people that booked their air independently. And they were there for both Xploration and Xpedition as both ships started their cruises on the same day. I’m pretty sure there had to be a Celebrity rep to receive independent guests because there is a special shuttle bus that takes you from GPS to the zodiac dock which takes you to your ship. We had about 12-13 passengers on our Xpedition sailing that booked the trip cruise-only. Xpedition Director and her naturalists at GPS
  7. I noticed that, too. When I was looking over Galapagos cruises a while back, I noticed a very uneven rollout of the itineraries. So I think that this could mean anything. We will see.
  8. Very nice first post on Cruise Critic (and very nice second cruise!)! For your group of 12, did you sail with two naturalists? Happy 10th anniversary, btw. So next cruise is not until 2034 (10 years)?
  9. You are most welcome. I sincerely hope that you thoroughly enjoy your first Celebrity cruise!
  10. Have fun on your trip, I know you will enjoy it. Celebrity does an excellent job. David
  11. We sail on Apr 20th and our app also shows room service charge....
  12. I did remember the odd shower configuration in our room as well. However our room was not narrow. If you had breakfast at the executive lounge, hopefully you discovered the Quiet Area to eat (no kids). The lounge was large enough that it took us a couple of days before we found it. Awesome that you had tea at Raffles.
  13. I don' t think I have posted this in this thread: here is a 2024 Galapagos Shore Excursion Brochure. It is written specifically for Flora, but the descriptions of the shore excursion were similar to what we experience during last Nov's Xpedition sailing. I imagine it similarly applies to Xploration. Xpedition anchored off of Punta Suarez, Isla Espanola, Nov 24 2023
  14. Here are some information flyers specifically about Xploration published by Celebrity: 1. Deck Plans (I realize that it's not all that complicated) 2. Fact Sheet (Captain Alban is now Xpedition's captain) 3. Staterooms 4. Xploration Charter 5. Xploration itineraries Lazy sea lion, Isla Santa Fe, Nov 19 2023
  15. Thank you for the news. The late night room service fee was something that was originally instituted back around 2017 (give or take a year) before the general room service charge was assessed--and now gone, hopefully.
  16. No problem! Lincoln quoted us $100 for a day tour around Quito. $135 for a day tour to Mindo. His rates are primarily influenced by the gasoline required for the tour and less by the amount of time required. I am also altitude sickness prone and learned the importance of acclimatizing when I backpacked at altitudes above 10,000 feet In the Sierra. Our trip flew straight into Quito twice from Loire altitudes which meant no acclimatizing unless sitting in a lower pressure aircraft cabin for several hours counts! In addition to a prescription for the anti seasickness patch, I asked my doctor to prescribe me anti altitude sickness medication, Diamox, for our trip. Seemed to work.
  17. Our guide’s name is Lincoln Guaman. His commercial website address is https://www.lincolnjabra.com/. His email address and mobile number are in there.
  18. Here is our guide's website: https://www.lincolnjabra.com/ Yes, I recognized being high up was not a good thing, but I wanted to book a balcony and that is where they were! There actually is another deck above with balconies, but I avoided that. But with the patch, it was a non-issue for me. Zero. The JW Marriott Quito was an excellent hotel and I commend Celebrity for using them as part of their Quito land package. You will find the rates there to be reasonable whether you use points or pay with cash--and, yes, very cheap compared to getting it through the land package. We paid in cash for our first night there before the land package took over. Being lifetime Titanium is great for you guys. Thank you for your nice words about my Live thread. Be sure to read @prmssk's live thread for the Xpedition sailing immediately before mine--it covered the Northern Loop, so between our two Live threads you have all of Xpedition's landing spots covered. Here is the link to her Live thread: link. Her wildlife pictures are excellent and her writing style is enjoyable to read. Let me know if you have any other questions. David
  19. i saw that as I posted the FAQ. I’m wondering if cruises that are paid in full are eligible, too. The FAQ implies it but I’m wondering.
  20. If your daughter will know whether she will be able to make it or not before the final payment deadline, then I prefer booking four and cancelling the 4th before final payment if the 4th can't make it: 1. cancelling the 4th does not change the price for the other 3. 2. you also have the option of substituting another name for the 4th person if that option is appealing. 3. if you book a non-refundable fare, then you will lose the deposit for cancelling the 4th person (before final payment is made). You could book the cabin under the refundable rate which makes cancelling with no penalty but the cruise rate for all 4 of you will be much more expensive. If your daughter doesn't know if she will be able to go on the cruise until after final payment, then it depends on how much her fare costs. If you add her and she doesn't make it, you end up losing her cruise fare (although you can make a substitution). I have booked cruises with our two adult kids (four of us) knowing that I may risk them bailing out after final payment and thus losing their fare(s)..
  21. Yes, they are. Your 9207 = 9208 in the above diagram in Post #9. And 9209 = 9296
  22. Last month, Celebrity published a Galapagos Shore Excursions Flyer that was written specifically for Flora. However for the places in the brochure that we visited during our Xpedition sailing, the information seem to apply. Here is the link.
  23. So to be clear, no price adjustment for your Apr 5 Suite sailing? Because it is after final payment?
