LOL. I had to Google it as well. I’ve never seen it on any of my Princess sailings. Will have to check out the display table of goodies they have at the front during my next tea time; perhaps it’s the only table that has one on it

Maybe I’ll demand one for my table on my next cruise 😁

I'd be willing to bet they not only don't have one on the front table but not at all on the ship.

We haven't been on the Regal, but have sailed on the Royal twice, the first one in 2015 when the ship was 3 years old.  That year (and I assume prior years) they offered a "high" tea (for a fee) in the atrium, while the regular tea was served in one of the dining rooms.  As I recall the latter was free for Elite pax.  It included a selection of finger sandwiches and sweets. https://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/ships/products/activities/afternoon-tea.html

This is where the link takes you (minus the pictures):

Celebration of Tasty Teas and Divine Desserts

Afternoon tea is a treasured tradition whether it’s a special occasion, an intimate moment for two, a mother-daughter tea party or just quiet time for reflection. Enjoy a wide selection of teas, or coffee if you prefer, served by white-gloved waiters in formal attire. The setting is an elegant dining room, with tables crowned with sparkling samovars and a delicious array of tasty treats: freshly prepared finger sandwiches, cookies and cakes.

I don't remember any samovars, sparkling or not, and the pictures don't show any.

Hello Folks. I am an avid cruiser and know my elderly father and his wife would love the experience, but they are in their late 80s with significant pre-existing health issues such that travel insurance outside Canada is not attainable.

    Try contacting www.TripInsuranceStore.com  or toll-free (US & Canada) 1-888-407-3854  steve@tripinsurancestore.com www.TripInsuranceStore.com

  4. We tried most of the aforementioned insurance providers to get coverage for our sister in law who will turn 80 just before our next cruise. We found that if you are past 75 and have, even a minor, pre existing condition you are out of luck unless you take a very high deductible on top of a ridiculous premium. At 80 they won’t evenlook at your application.

If there is some insurance provider out there that has a reasonable package I would really appreciate the info.

For now we will stick with the Princess insurance option.

    Theo

Check the trip insurance store. They do business in Canada as well as the U.S. Their website is tripinsurancestore.com

Their website has a toll free number for Canada.

  5. I just called and confirmed with Princess. We will receive a cheque for whatever we don't use in 4-6 weeks.

CAUTION: The check (cheque) comes in an envelope with an unfamiliar return address. It will not have Princess or any marking to indicate it is your refund. It looks like an unsolicited ad. Be careful in discarding any junk mail after your cruise until you have the check.

  6. HI All,

Are we a bit strange ?

We just enjoy being on a ship with lots of sea days, and the total relaxation.

Our friends think we are mad, we should go and try something new.

    What are your thoughts

    Cheers Don

Don, I wonder if these "friends" ever return to the same restaurant or order the same entree? Do what you want and what you enjoy (unless the friends are paying for the cruise).

But, to answer your question, namely, "Are we a bit strange ? "

Oh, I hope so, but not because of your choice of cruises.:):):)

  7. We will be on the October 8th Hawaiian Island and Tahiti Cruise. I'm looking for people that want to play Mahjong. I have my own game pieces and we will have everything we need to play at all times. Please let me know if you are interested in joining in and having some fun while on board. Looking forward to hearing from you. teresahatt@gmail.com

Welcome to Cruise Critic. This is the link for your roll call, Emerald Princess, Oct. 8:

  8. No benefit and it may be somewhat crowded with full suite passengers. The Crown Princess has The Crown Grill and Sabatini's. It does not have SHARE. We have been using ATD for years. We have found that it is normally a little chaotic on the first evening. We usually eat in the buffet, Trident Grill, International Cafe or have some pizza the first night.

I believe the OP is sailing on Ruby Princess.

  9. I don't normally look there but can see the differences. The numbers are incorrect and/or badly explained. The cruise history tells the correct story!!

Mine shows I am elite with 17 cruises and zero days sailed (not sure how I did that:D). Cruise history shows 18 cruises. And all 17 (or 18) cruises were GREAT.

  10. Thanks for the info. We are elite and I never knew there is a plug under the bed! His CPAP machine is 110 - 225V so will I just need a US to Eur plug? I have plenty of those but I don't have a converter because I have never needed one.

Yes, just the plug. There is also an outlet behind the TV (non Royal class ships), but of course that is also on the other side of the room.

  11. I'm researching the Star Princess 15 days December 19th 2017. I'm trying to not break the bank, but I do not want an inside for such a beautiful itinerary. I'm torn between the OE category a port hole Aloha 748. It would give me the opportunity to go a few steps out my door and be by the Terrace pool. Or go with the BF balcony cabin in room A748 toward the front of the ship. The difference in price is $400. If anyone can help us decide that would be great.

What is the cabin number of the BF you are considering?

  12. Counting down the days to our first Princess cruise on the Caribbean Princess and still gathering information. Is cream or half and half for coffee available at the horizon court, the IC?

Don't know if that stuff is cream or half and half (I suspect the latter) but just FYI, I was in a grocery store recently and noticed they had "FAT FREE HALF AND HALF!"

  13. Being from Europe and British I am confused about tipping hotel personnel, shuttle drivers, porters, bar staff etc.

    TIA

As you can see from all the above comments, we are as confused as you are.:)

  14. I know your comment was many years ago but I am wondering how my husband is going to get from the check in area up to the cabin. We are going on Princess. Can an attendant bring him up with the ship wheelchair? Thanks.

My wife has always been pushed thru check in and to our cabin. Not always by the same person. Last time was last November.

  15. Thanks for the suggestion. My husband and I were just talking about whether its like at the airport and we can get a wheelchair. I'm not ashamed about being in a wheelchair (just got out of one when they finally let me put weight on my knee). Do they take you on the ship in it, or roll you up to the gangway and drop you off to walk on your self?

    Julie

Generally, they take you directly to your cabin.

  16. Tell that to the family of the disabled man who was tossed overboard off a cruise ship back in the 80's. It can happen again. There is no requirement for the Navy to escort ships through the area.

Yes, but that wasn't pirates. It was Palestinian terrorists off the coast of Egypt.

  17. Well, they gotta make up the lost revenue they incur by giving you those good rates.

But the OP specified that the rate (and perks) were about the same

The cruise rates on the site are not really any lower and the perks are about the same as some others that do not charge a fee.

    Thanks!

To answer your question, there is no benefit to paying the fee in the example cited.

  18. ...BUT, I would like to get free baggage which we are accustomed to having because we usually pay for our flights with our AAdvantage Visa. However, we use our Princess Visa to pay for anything cruise related....is there a way to separate the payments, or is that not even an option?

My experience (with Delta) was to provide the appropriate information on the EZ Air sign up form and I wasn't charged for luggage.
