Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I know this has probably been answered before, but I can't find the current amount of deposit required and how much OBC you get when booking while on another cruise. We're looking at a 7-day southern Caribbean and leaving on our Alaska cruise in two weeks. Anyone know or where to find the information.
  2. Unions have their place to make sure people are paid fairly and have a safe workplace, but allowing thugs to shake down customers should not be one of the approved activities of the union. It's too bad they have been allowed to have that power.
  3. Sorry to hear about your change. Mykonnos was our favorite island.
  4. We sailed Odyssey last year and we did not have to reserve entertainment. Frankly, the entertainment wasn't nearly as good as on the Oasis class, where you had more of a broadway show. Odyssey repeated the same 'big' show twice and then had a comedian one time and then had an airial show that they repeated twice, so there wasn't much variety . We ended up spending more time in the music hall watching karaoke.
  5. There will be six of us in July in Costa Maya and none of the excursions interest us. If we just stay in the port/downtown is there enough town to eat/shop for several hours?
  6. Take costumes anticipating that they will have a halloween party. We were on a cruise over halloween and they didn't let us know ahead, but we assumed there would be and found that there was a major party. So...dress up and have fun.
  7. We did this on our most recent cruise and changed back to the early time after the first night. They told us we would have to wait until 7:15 to even get in line since all reservations were full for the week after the first day. We ended up switching to the early time and had the same table all week. We much preferred that.
  8. I did this for my wife. I created a notebook of the reservation documents plus pictures and information about the ports, pictures of the cabin, etc. Wrapped it up in a box and she loved it.
  9. We just sailed on Odyssey and didn't like it as well as the older ships with a larger promenade. The promenade on Odyssey is two levels and felts rather choppy. We didn't like the two level music hall and it didn't have a lot of takers when we went down. The shows on Odyssey were not nearly as good as other ships we've been on. We had one original show and then they had the aerialists but they redid their show three different evenings, so not much to look forward to.
  10. We are traveling to Rome next Thursday then getting on ship on Sunday for Greece. We are doing the video monitored test in Rome on Friday, in hopes that we're negative. If we're not, we'll have a nice Rome vacation.
  11. Interestingly, RC is confused on this issue as well. I called their number and spent an hour being put on hold over and over while they 'checked with others' to get clarification.
  12. Like everyone, I'm over the constant changes in policy over covid testing. We're flying to Rome on a Thursday and don't board until Sunday so we have to do our Optum antigen test, that RC pushes, on a Friday from the apartment we are renting, hoping that they have enough bandwidth to do the video call. Otherwise we'll be hunting for other options once we get there. Grrr.
  13. I'm so tired of RCCL changing their protocol weekly. We're sailing from Italy to Greece on Sept 11 and their latest email was confusing, once again, on which test on which day, because they had not yet changed other pages on their website, so they contradicted each other. How about we just decide to quit the testing and let people make their own informed decision? I know it's based on the country they're going to, so I can't blame them completely, but just need to vent some frustration with the moving target.
  14. We recently did the beach break and had a great time. We were the only ship there and had very few people on the lagoon side. Lots of chairs and umbrellas available. The food was so so. If you want to feel pampered, do the VIP route. The food is better and you have more drink options. However, we have always just enjoyed doing the lagoon every time we've been there.
