  1. That's a pretty good price for a Celebrity Veranda cruise only especially for Iceland.
  2. I know someone that won the free cruise. It's really a casino comp'ed cruise so you have to pick from their limited list of sailings. I'm assuming you have to pay taxes/fees and anything you spend onboard like drinks wifi gratuities. Far from free. They ended up not taking it as none of the dates worked with their schedule.
  3. Can I get a discount if I clean my own windows?
  4. No. Basically they can attend any event with you like breakfast or backstage tour. But anything that's a discount attached to your card like the happy hour drinks or wine discount or Persion Gardens is for the member only.
  5. I think you hit the nail on the head. You have to pay before the PIF date for the first cruise which is to their advantage.
  6. Yes still works on Side by Side. It's either 2 or 3 days, not sure. Given what's gone on with rates in the last couple of years I think they really need to start raising some of these fixed discounts/perks like B2B discount and OBC for onboard booking.
  7. For reference here is the flyer describing the B2B discount including T&C https://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Celebrity/General_Info/Flyers/CEL_Back_to_Back_Offer_Flyer.pdf
  8. So what did they say the "service charge" covers? This makes no sense to me. Did you use a TA? If so I would reach out to them to see if they think the gratuities are included.
  9. I have heard it being rejected with 2 different TA's. But there is no requirement to book a the same time. Call again!
  10. @Lastdance It seems each time you were given BS information which should have been challenged. I've never meet a shipboard employee that had a "day off", maybe part of a day. In any event everyone has a boss. B2B discount never keeps one from repricing and you never lose a B2B discount when repricing. It may drop off and have to be re-applied but not lost. A good TA should handle all these issues without causing you stress. Of course not the onboard one but that should have never been an issue.
  11. You are correct that they have 2 gas turbine engines. The additional diesel generator was installed around 2010 when the ships were Solsticized. The fuel for the gas turbine engines is very expensive so they generally run on diesel and 1 turbine unless they need to make close to top speed when they will add the 2nd turbine. In port they use the diesel.
  12. They are pretty much the same thing. What was described on your booking statement is the same as you are being charged. I would take your booking statement to Guest Relations and have them correct (or explain).
  13. Supply and demand. I've seen a softening of prices on a couple of our sailings. (probably over-priced from the beginning).
  14. I believe that because this is not a closed loop sailing that passports are required and they would not have been allowed to board. @mahdnc If you run into Jacky in the MDR (asst Maitre'd) please say hi from Royce and Robin. She is the best.
  15. We also had a large OBC on our first Windstar sailing on Star Breeze in Tahiti in January. We booked a couple of excursions months prior to sailing and yes we were able to cancel and rebook onboard using the OBC. The original charges were refunded to our onboard account and any unspent funds were refunded to our CC at the end of the sailing. The only other issue is that the excursions are always $10-$20 more when booked onboard. We were charged the prevailing onboard rate when rebooking.
  16. On Celebrity any type of OBC can be used for Gratuities. If you have refundable OBC remaining at the end of the cruise it can either be refunded in cash at Guest Relations on the last day otherwise it will be issued as a credit on the credit card on file for your account.
  17. You need to specify which ship. It makes a difference.
  18. We just got off Legend this week. When checking in an officer told us that it was Ice rated and was about 1m longer than it's 2 sisters. I was surprised to hear this but yes it is ice rated.
  19. My GE renewal got conditional approval in 3 days but required an interview. Our nearest point is 3 hrs away in Charlotte but there are never open appointments. When we first applied when searching for appointments I saw that San Juan had openings almost every day. We had a cruise planned so just made the appointment and had our interview there. So this time I looked at the whole list of centers and saw Aruba was on the list and there were appointments available in Oct when we were going to be there on a cruise stop. About 2 months later I got an email with an update which was that I was fully approved. When I looked it appeared that the Aruba office no longer does interviews so I guess they just approved.
  20. What a mess on the gangway with 2000 people dragging their luggage😃
  21. This is why I don't understand why people get them. I just book something with a refundable deposit as far in the future as possible. Then when I decide I have my TA move it to the new sailing and at that time decided if I want to keep it refundable but in most cases change to non-refundable as I only have $100/pp at risk.
  22. Well it took Celebrity much longer than a month to return the Butlers to Sky Suites but that's another thread. My opinion is $10/day would be very generous and quite a bit more than we do but I'm sure it would be appreciated. I usually base it as a multiple of what their share of the "required" tip is. I think the current butler share is < $5/day.
  23. Generally these are your deposit for your reservation so no additional deposit should be required. I believe the OBC expires if you don't apply it to a sailing within 6 months. I also believe they are refundable if you don't want to use them.
  24. If you happen to get stuck there tonight the Marriott at the airport is pretty nice, but hopefully you get on your way soon.
