Positive things I am grateful for onboard today: incredible weather, being so fortunate to have warm sunshine in Glacier Bay, wonderful hot water supply and great water pressure for my shower this morning, great new friends we have made on the week we have been cruising, still having 5 days more to cruise and most of all, grateful to celebrate being married 41 years today to the best man I have ever known.

Happy Anniversary and thank you for posting so much about this cruise. We board the Royal on May 21 after a 5-day land tour. We'll be celebrating our 42nd anniversary! So thankful to be back to cruising!

  2. We've decided to cancel a cruise we had booked for April on the Enchanted. Today I went on our Princess page and cancelled about $2000 worth of excursions we had paid for 6 months ago. How long do we have to wait before seeing that refund? I assume it will be credited back to the original credit card.

  3. Our April 12 cruise on the Sky was cancelled. We chose Option 1 with all Future Cruise Credit. We were planning to use the FCC on a November 2020 cruise to S. America. Since that's looking doubtful, does anyone know if we can now change to Option 2 and get a refund instead? Princess has about $8000 of our money and it may be a long time before we feel comfortable booking another cruise.

I just downloaded the app.  There is an English version and it knows that is what I need.

However, just as a test I tried to purchase a ticket on May 10 (random date) from Skagens St. to Grenen and it says "no Trip found"

It might be too early to purchase.

What is the name of the app you refer to for bus travel from Skagen to Grenen?

    Thanks

  5. We're thinking of doing a few days on the Olympic Peninsula, then a 7-day cruise to Alaska out of Seattle. Emerald Princess departs Sunday Sept. 16 at 4 pm (I think from pier 91). Are we cutting it too close by spending Saturday night in Port Angeles, return the rental car to Sea-Tac, then take a Lyft to the ship?

  6. Glad you had a great cruise! We'll be boarding the Royal on Nov. 30, our first time on the bigger ship. We've always bought coffee cards, both for the specialty coffees and the fresh-brewed from the IC. We've read that the Royal has fresh-brewed everywhere instead of the old (gross) syrup based coffee. Can you confirm this? We have 2 cards remaining from last cruise with lots of unused punches, so maybe don't need to buy new ones.

  7. We're sailing the Royal Nov. 30 for 10 days. Before I pack, I'm thinking of calling the Captain's Circle person a week prior to sailing and asking how many Elites will be on board. We have never waited more than 2 days for laundry, but have only been sailing longer cruises in the off season since turning Elite.

  8. I agree the coffee card is a good deal for many, but now I have a new problem: Doc says lay off the caffeine. Anyone know if decaffeinated brewed coffee, premium tea and specialty coffees are available at the IC?

Yes. We always get decaf specialty coffees with our coffee cards.

  9. Princess posted this on their Facebook page about an hour ago in response to a question about losing the free Platinum/Elite internet minutes.

We regret that there is misinformation about the new internet packages being trialed on Grand Princess. When the program rolls out fleetwide, guests with Platinum or Elite internet minutes will have three options upon first sign on:

    1) Activate their existing minutes, just as before;

    2) Upgrade to a package with a larger number of minutes, just as before; or

    3) Upgrade to one of the new unlimited packages at a reduced rate, which is what you're describing.

Any Platinum or Elite guests who chooses option 1 or 2 will still be able to access any site they were able to before the new packages rolled out, they are not limited to just the "Social" tier.

As we've said, since this is a trial, there have been a few bugs to work out, and we've heard from our shipboard teams that there were some issues with access to certain websites for Platinum and Elite guests, which I believe is where this rumor is coming from. We hope that helps, and assure you we very much do value our loyal guests.

  10. Has anyone heard Phoenix Rising lately? They are currently on the Royal. We've always heard them playing and danced to them in the Wheelhouse, but the Royal deck plan doesn't show a dance floor in the WH. Looking forward to seeing them again in November, just wondering where they usually play on this ship.

  11. ba1967, we had a similar theft in Barcelona while waiting in Placa Catalunya for the airport bus. At 5 am it was just us tourists and lots of homeless people wandering around watching us. Someone swiped my daughter's backpack from our luggage pile while we were distracted. Didn't discover it till we were halfway to the airport. Fortunately she had her passport on her person. Upon returning home, we filed a claim with Travelguard and they were willing to accept a local police report, since obviously we hadn't called the Barcelona police. Travelguard reimbursed us for the backpack contents under the "stolen luggage" benefit of our travel insurance. We didn't bother with Homeowners insurance because of the deductible.
