  1. Yes, correct. BUT, unfortunately, on the Pride, this cabin is categorized as a SUITE so the price is much more. On the Breeze, the same cabin (aft wrap) is NOT sold as a suite, just an "extended" balcony cabin....

No it's not a suite. 8232, 6232, and I think 7258 are 8j and 8k. Regular extended balconies. Same as the cabins next to them. I have 8232 booked for next month. Why have a 10 ft balcony when I can have 30 ft for the same price. ;)

  2. Yep, rental car is good. Drop it off in the morning and take their shuttle to port. People getting off the ship will be renting the cars to head back to Orlando. It gets very busy in there.

  3. Maybe? VERY math challenged. Let me try a hypothetical. Let's say with my current rate hi have $50 OBC. The new rate is $20 less. So I would lose the original $50 and only gain the $20 OBC, thus losing $30. Right? so in order to get a worthwhile drop, I have to wait till the new fare is at least $51 less than the current fare so I won't lose the $50 OBC. Is that right?

    Yes! :D

  4. If the higher fate had the OBC perk -$50 or whatever -and the lower fare did not offer it, you would get the price drop but lose the OBC associated with that other fare. So now you have to only apply for drops that are lower than you current fare +$50. Or if the new fare includes promotional OBC again.

    Make sense?

  5. The time you would be arriving at port 12-1 ish, the lines can be long. So you will still be able to walk past all that with the priority line and go up to your own section of counter, and probably then walk right on the ship to your cabin.

You still have the other perks as well.

  6. Needs to be the same category, but not necessarily the same deck.

You can ask for an upgrade if the same price or less, but have a cabin picked out when you call so you can make a specific request. It's easier and takes less time that way.

  7. They're typically *about* the same. I've also seen it where the shop on the ship will price match lower prices found on shore - take a picture of the price and product in the duty free shops and if you paid or would pay more on the ship they can match

Yes, this! I have seen them do this. Know the offers the ship has going on before you head off the ship.

  8. The way I'd envision it, Carnival could sell meal plans good at certain venus at various price points, or go a la carte the way drinks are done. The MDR is a huge waste of space with fixed, boring menus, IMO. Bring in multiple new restaurant concepts for better quality and choice in it's place. Don't want to subsidize someone ordering lobster or steak in your cruise fare, when you don't eat those items yourself? Now you wouldn't have to.

I don't want to see the MDR turned into a food court. :(

  9. DonAntonio, sorry I went off track.

I think you will be fine with whatever option sounds best to you. I personally like late assigned seating, but have done ATD, and it was fine. The flexibility of eating when you are ready and not when you're told, and also deciding whether to eat alone or with a large group both have their draws.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  10. It is usually 1:30, but they sometimes tell you at check in what time they are estimating. Also there is usually an announcement made on board inviting you to head to you cabins when the are ready.

  11. I am actually paying less this May than I did last May for the same type cabin and same itinerary.

But it is usually cheaper to fly to Florida and get a cruise out of Miami or Fort Lauderdale even adding airfare. And mostly better ports. And you don't have to be cold for a day if you go in the winter. :)

Baltimore has no competition except for one RCI ship. Florida has many ships all in port the same day.

  12. Has anybody had problems with placing the holds. I did one, I clicked the email to finalize and book it. Ran into a snag, it didn't take my husbands name or let me put it in. I had to call carnival. Not only that, it won't let me add the insurance, it tells me the VIFP number does not match, but it does since I verified that when I had them put hubbies name in, so I have to call for that. If I try to do anything it balks that my price code won't allow to make changes. I'm just going to ride it out and call for the insurance and tips, but that was rather strange. Had no problems on my last 2 bookings. What was even stranger the woman on the phone had to check to see if there was a fee for a name change. I flipped out over that, telling her it's not a name change its a computer correction made 5 minutes ago. She gave me the attitude that computers don't make mistakes. I guess it's just not my week.

I had this same problem when I put a hold on the cabin. I don't know if it was because of early saver or not, but I called and they corrected all my info while I had them on the phone. While it took longer than I had wanted to spend on the phone, it taught me a lesson to either cancel the hold and rebook, or let it run out and start over.

I was just so afraid someone would find out the cabin was available and snag it. It was one of those rare occasions I managed to get the coveted 30 ft long balcony cabin. :D

  13. In the "comment" box be sure and write:

My current Early Saver rate is___________________________________

The Early Saver rate advertised is _______________________________

This is what my PVP told me.

I always spell it out in the comments:

My current rate is xxx, the new rate under xxxpromo is xxx, this should be a reduction of $xxx applied as OBC.

  14. Last year we were on a sea day heading to grand turk on 5/5. It was also our first elegant night.

The activities related to cinco de mayo were: (pulling this out of an old funtimes)

a mariachi duck scavenger hunt - there were 12 ducks in plain view all over the ship and you dropped off your entry in the box and I guess they drew them the next day.

There was a paper flower arts and crafts class

There was a spicy sombrero pass. (I'm guessing like musical chairs, or hot potato)

There was Cinco de Mayo trivia

and there must have been something in the atrium, we saw a bunch of people walking around with fake mustaches and sombreros and those plastic maracas.

Now the year before, I was actually in Mexico for cinco de mayo and a week of diving. They did even less there. Its an american beer holiday.

Unless you are in Puebla, I guess.

  15. I see the advantage as the ships knows where you are. We took the ships tour to Xunantunich. It is a couple hours drive from port. On the way back we had an injury to a passenger than required a stop at the pharmacy for some first aid supplies, forms to be filled out, etc. then we had a run in with some schools kids horsing around and the kid ride his bike right into the side of the bus while we were stopped at an intersection. Kid was fine, his friends were laughing, but his bike tire was bent. The driver, after scolding the boy, helped him try to fix his wheel. Another report to fill out.

We got back to the dock just when we should have been pulling up anchor. They had held a tender for us, and that was the fastest, craziest tender ride ever!

I know independent tour guides keep contact with the port authorities as well, but going that far from port, I want that extra security.

We witnessed the same thing in Cozumel last summer when the ferry used to take the tours to the mainland pulled up at 5:10, when we should have left at 5.
