  1. The app is still only showing the old menu for the first 7 nights of our 11 night Anthem cruise from Jersey on January 13, 2023, other remaining nights state VENUE CLOSED. ?
  2. Having tags on our bags is quickest and easiest for us. Glad you have a different opinion, and if you aren't in a car you would never slow us down. Happy sailing
  3. Last four cruises on the Anthem we dined in The Grande or the Icon and each and every night there were plenty of cargo and regular shorts along with flip flops. No real problem but a few looked just plain slovenly. We go back to the formal days of gowns and suits or tuxes, and are very happy to see the rules have been relaxed, but sometimes it just looks a bit much.
  4. Captain's Club ?? We buy the water packages on most cruises, and it is almost a different type and brand each time and on each different ship. Evian is usually a premium and we have never found anything but still water, not carbonated included in the package.
  5. So when there are a few hundred cars waiting to off load their bags and only a certain number of spaces to do so, taking up easily more than 5 minutes at one of these spaces to fumble around asking for labels and a marker doesn't slow down the process for everyone? I think it would .
  6. Shank portion with bone in. Braised over a long period of time in a broth of vegetables and seasoning until fall off the bone tender. It is not like a steak but cooked with the bone and very, very flavorful.
  7. +1 for sure. I do know ONE thing that to me is a no brainer. I am glad there are people at the terminals who for a buck or two make the lines of cars get unloaded and their contents quickly on its way to the ship, no matter the weather, the weight or the physical condition of the cruisers.
  8. We sail mostly from Cape Liberty. Pull to the curb, hand a tip to the porter who directed us to his spot on the curb. The luggage is pulled from the hatch and we are on our way to the garage. Now if there are a few hundred people who are in line and need to be directed to the curb and a luggage tram especially first timers at Bayonne. Once they find an empty place to pull over they have to get out of their car and pull out their luggage. They have to find a tram that isn't full and where they may have to lift their luggage 4 feet or more on top of the pile. Then there are a few who need tags (many posters always say GET THEM FROM A PORTER). Then some less able bodied have to wait for someone to help them with the bags. the carts are full and luggage has fallen on the ground. Multiply all those MURPHY'S LAW problems by several hundred and the line to baggage drop off become hell on earth. To me spending a few bucks to avoid sitting in my car watching chaos at the drop off is more than worth it. ps. And remember those windy, rainy and snowy days looking for a place to pull over and then find a cart with room.
  9. That being said do you think a lone piece of luggage would not be seen by either a Royal employee or a dock worker when all the busy times slow down to nothing? Whether it be when you drop your luggage, when it goes on a tram or later loaded, HOWEVER, into the ship?
  10. As embarkation slows down to a halt there are still dozens of Cruise Line employees and their supervisors in and around the terminal. There are also plenty of porters who are parking the lifts and the luggage carts. Everything is ALWAYS put in order before the port is abandoned. A loose suitcase would stand out like a sore thumb sitting all by its lonesome on the empty port.
  11. The porters toss your bags onto trolleys, and it would be obvious if they left a bag sitting on the ground by any number of other porters or passengers. If they did this routinely when tipped 10 dollars there would be a few thousand bags left on the platform. This is port dependent. Baltimore and Cape Liberty the luggage goes right on trolleys or covered wheeled bins, like airport baggage trains and then to the forklifts.
  12. Guacamole MINUS the onion, tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeno pepper, lime juice, garlic and salt is basically Crisco with an off taste. LOL Glad we all can have our own opinions.
  13. 76 years growing up in different ethnic New York City neighborhoods and I have found ONLY one thing that I do not see any culinary value in, AVOCADO. Tastes to me like flavorless Crisco and I do like most other greasy foods both animal and vegetable, LOL Avocado oil is great in the pan but as a fruit, Why bother ?
  14. First 7 nights on the Anthem's January 13th eleven night cruise is the same as before. The last 4 nights say, "VENUE CLOSED" ?
  15. I would prefer not to be wandering the corridors looking for an ice machine that other passengers have access to. Dipping a well-handled bucket, cup, glass or other container into a pile of ice is no different than having a bartender drop a few cubes in your glass with his or her hands.
  16. Got off the Anthem a few weeks ago. No cup in stateroom for the soda package. Went to the bar in the Windjammer, was handed a sealed wrapped soda cup with no scan or id of any kind. Worked in all the machines throughout the entire cruise.
  17. Once years ago, while going through Customs in Puerto Rico. Wife and niece went through, but not me, ??? No problem with the body scan but I was wanded a few more times, had my luggage opened and inspected and had to open up all electronics and remove the batteries. ?
  18. ABC's are deep Southern Caribbean islands and have the most astonishing beaches. There are usually a lot more ships in the typical Eastern Caribbean itineraries, less in the ABC's.
  19. Almost any ship with a 12 - 14-day Caribbean Itinerary that AVOIDS Cape Canaveral and Nassau. At least ONE in the Jan-Feb-Mar timeslot.
  20. I wonder if they re-route your checked bags to the upgraded room. Sounds like a P.I.A.
  21. As a gamble I put in a bid on a 7 night cruise leaving this Sunday/ Bid to upgrade from a large veranda to a Junior Suite. Here is today's response: "While we have not selected your offer yet, the team onboard the ship is still reviewing, and may choose it for upgrade based on availability at departure time." What are the odds ?
  22. The funny thing about lobster is that in early America it was considered to be trash food for the poor and was a steady diet in this country's prisons. And those were the New England cold water variety. Times as well as people's tastes change.
