  1. Lol. During the world is about to end phase I bought 10 cans of soup. I have never eaten canned soup in my life. Needless to say, they are still sitting in my cupboard.
  2. Like everything with the app, it can be hit or miss. I recently booked with Premier Package and, for the first 5 days after booking, the package didn't show on the app so when I tried to book dining it wanted to charge me. When the package DID show on the app, I was able to reserve without payment. In answer to your question, IF the app is working correctly you can pre-book with the credits!
  3. I go into full Zombie Appocalypse mode! Not only do I stop buying food, I make it a mission to eat everything in the house prior to leaving. The kids always know vacation is looming when they have pasta for breakfast and a mish-mash dinner or bagels and rice!
  4. If the Vancouver Sun is to be believed, you should be ok: Possible B.C. port strike will spare cruise ships, employers say | Vancouver Sun
  5. Found you! I'm here for the ride (or sail) and will give you a wave when we pass by on July 17th! Woot Woot!
  6. Yes - you get full suite perks but sometimes the steward, etc needs to be reminded as "technically" this is an inside room and a mini suite. The 2 bedroom suite does not get booked that often so they do forget about the perks.
  7. Yes, that info from the rep was not correct. Shocking, I know. My package showed up on the app about 5 days after purchasing and, once on there and recognised, I was able to reserve the dining. It seems to be hit or miss as to if/when it will appear...
  8. That's why you aren't getting the dining credits applied. Give it a couple of days and check that section again - once the package shows, you will be able to reserve the dining. It worked that way for me.
  9. Same - I had it all listed on the personalizer but the app said I had no packages. It took about 4 days after adding the package for it to appear in the app for me.
  10. UPDATE: Not sure if it was a fluke, the result of my conversation with the rep, the fact that I was about ready to cancel the package, or my email to the medallion folks, but this morning my package suddenly appeared on the app and allowed me to reserve the specialty dining at no charge. It really shouldn't be so difficult or hit or miss.
  11. I could have written your exact post! To answer your question, yes, if you continue on you will be charged (I just did it this weekend). If you're in app and click on packages and payments - does it list your premiere package there? If not, the dining credits will not show up and you will be charged to reserve. A rep I spoke to at the weekend said that credits show up between 90-100 days prior to sailing (I don't believe that is correct, but that is what I was told). Princess are unable to apply the dining credits from the back end, either, until they appear on the app. My suggestion is to keep checking - mine JUST showed up this morning and I was able to reserve the dining at $0.
  12. On the ship I have never had any problems. Pre-cruise, nothing but issues...every time. I even bought a whole new phone (don't even get me started on that) and still have problems with it.
  13. Yeah, but I'n leery of the exchange rate...lol. At least upfront you know what you're paying and that conversion is locked in....
  14. Great info - I did doubt what the rep told me, and now you have confirmed that I was right to doubt!
  15. So, I just got an update regarding the packages, etc. According to the rep on live chat, the dining credits for packages and other credits such as wifi, medallion shipping, etc will not show up/apply until 90-100 days prior to sailing (I assume that means after final payment?) This definnitely wasn't the case in December - I had everything right away, but with all the changes I guess anything is possible. I'm going to just ditch the package, use my elite discount for wifi, drink the free mini bar, and just pay for dining if we can get it. I'm willing to forego the desserts, juice, and fitness classes and can take my own pictures.
  16. WHAT??? That is insane! I'm in Canada so can't even get the medallion shipped anyway, but I had no idea you had to pay and then get it refunded...
  17. It's definitely off-putting. One of the things I love about cruising and being a TA is the pre-planning stage. This app takes ALL of the enjoyment out of it and just leads to frustrations. I am at the point of just cancelling the package, going with standard fare and just paying as I go...why should I give Princess my money up front when it's literally of no benefit to me? It's not even much of a savings since they upped their pricing...
  18. 100000% - especially when I know the clients may not be technologically savvy. I've, personally, been a loyal Princess cruiser for many years but since this nonsense I tend to sail other lines more and don't go to Princess as the first choice. Princess needs to have a great deal to get me in the door these days!
  19. I don't really want to go that route as it's only a short cruise (which is also why I want to get the dining booked - if I can't get a reservation once onboard I will be MAD) and I already have more than enough OBC to use. The whole "refund back to card" thing can take weeks. Who has time to stand in line with guest services on a cruise? Not me. It's frustrating as it's hit or miss - last cruise I had no issue reserving the dining and not paying. This cruise (which I literally just booked) the package isn't even showing up for me on the app, so I assume that is why it won't let me book without paying (it also wants me to pay for wifi). The only reason I got the premier is to reserve the dining...ugh. Hopefully the ocean support folks can fix it...
  20. No luck - thanks for the suggestion, though. I tried the live chat online and the rep confirmed I had the package. Yeah. I know that. It started off well as he offered to book from his end, took all the info, and said "just give me a minute". I waited and I waited and I waited and I waited. After 20 minutes I typed "are you still there?" Nothing. Gave it another 10 and then gave up. Sigh. I've now sent an email to the medallion app folks. It shouldn't have to be this frustrating every single time. It's a shame as I really do like the app once on the ship....
