Condition of Brilliance?
xeriod replied to cruisin from florida's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I was on the Brillance when it broke down. 2 days to get to Lifou at 20 knots. Then 4 days to get back to Sydney at 13 knots. We got back 4 days early and they offer $250 per night for 3 nights. Try to find a hotel in Sydney for $250 ! Flights back were booked , so we stayed those 4 nights at $280 per night.Took 2 hours of standing in line to get off the ship as everyone rushed to get off and ignored the supposed assigned time slot. Royal issued me that $750 yesterday, now I need to contact the trip insurance folks to get back hotel and food costs. -

Can one parent travel with their child on a cruise?
xeriod replied to xeriod's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Thanks for all the replies. The Grand daughter is 5, and using just her birth certificate. We are sailing out of San Pedro, Calif to one Mexico port on a 3 nighter. Sounds like we will not need anything signed from the Dad , but in an abundance of caution I think we will have him sign that RCL form . -
It looks like it depends on which visa you are applying for ; The most popular is the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), which is an online visa that allows U.S. citizens to stay in Australia for up to 90 days Per Entry, for tourism or business purposes. It is a quick and easy visa option that we can help you get from the comfort of your own home! The Visitor Visa, also known as an Australian Tourist Visa, allows U.S. citizens to stay in Australia for up to 12 months for tourism or to visit family and friends. It’s a multiple-entry visa. If you are applying for the "visitor visa" you may be required to get the medical exam. For most of us we will just be getting the ETA for a 90 day stay and won't need the exam.

From Who needs health examinations (homeaffairs.gov.au) Looks rather vague. Like maybe if you planing on moving there you need it. I already have my visa and I'm 79. I did get it back in April though. Check if you need to have health examinations Online visa applications To check whether you need to have health examinations: Log in to ImmiAccount. Go to your application. Click on the 'View health assessment' link in the Applications Status section. If we need you to have health examinations, you will find a link there called 'Organise health examinations'. There will be no link if we don't need you to have health examinations. Click on the link and complete your medical history. When you complete your medical history you will be given a referral letter containing an identifier we call a HAP ID. You need the HAP ID to arrange your health examinations. Paper visa applications Your case officer will contact you if you need to have health examinations. You will be given a referral letter containing an identifier we call a HAP ID. You need the HAP ID to arrange your health examinations. You had health examinations in the last 12 months You might not need to have all the health examinations again if you had any in the last 12 months. Your referral letter will tell you what examinations you need to take.

Port of Los Angeles San Pedro Questions
xeriod replied to diazwoman61's topic in West Coast Departures
The parking lot is in front of the ship.No shuttle and depending on where you find a spot to park its 100 to 300 yards to the ship. Cost is $20 per day. Google map will give you a pretty good look. The Navigator goes from pier 92 or 93, forget which. -
I'm 79 and still use them.

You can walk. It's about 1 1/2 miles each way. I got lost trying to get there and ended up taking a taxi. But found it's just over the hill from the ship when walking back. You might want to print out a map so you don't wander around and not find it. You can watch for free from the road by the railing. But expect to have a lot of people doing the same. Do a Google map for walking from Fort San Diego to La Quebrada and it will take you along the beach to the cliff divers.

There is a hop on hop off bus that has about 6 stops . You could get off at all the stops or those that interest you. You can book it online or when you get there.

I understand that at the end of the application that there is a $20 cost. Do they ask for a credit card number or do you have to use something like Google pay ? Thanks

b2b cruising on different ships.
xeriod replied to welshrich's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Go to Guest services and ask about a shuttle to the new ship. They often have a shuttle for RCL crew that want to go somewhere and they have a shuttle that stops at each RCL ship. Did that for our SBS. -

We used a day pass for the Riu last month. The taxi "to" the resort was $40 from the port . We should have crossed the street to Walmart and looked for a taxi there, but did not. The price coming back was $17 . There was 4 of us. The RIU called the taxi for us we were ready to leave. It was about a 45 minute ride each way with a bit of traffic.

They have laser tag on a sea day. Lots of fun , but hard to find out about it. We signed up at Guest Services. It's held in the same place as the ice show. -
The Beach Club is a great way to spend the day. But it's around $250 p/p now and I dont think its worth that. If your going after Thanksgiving Royal has had a black Friday sale in the past for 1/2 price. So you could book now so there is a spot. Then cancel on that Friday and rebook right away at the reduced price. Something I, I mean a friend did. Otherwise there are plenty of beach and pool spots to be had.
