Recommendation for RCL ship for Celebrity Fans
Cruise a holic replied to Maggie4nc's topic in Royal Caribbean International
You were brave. After the Adventure of the Seas cruise, I would never again sail on that ship. Glad you enjoyed your Baltic cruise- We went on the Oasis this past August and had a wonderful experience. Will only consider Oasis class (suite level) royal cruises again. -
Yes- but the Finest half Club level. We had some kids with us in the family. Excellence portion is adults only. But the same hotel with different buildings. Enjoy

Had such a great time in Playa Mujeres at this wonderful resort, we are booking again in July. We love the fact that everything is included. Many restaurants, and bars to choose from. Including room service. We still have multiple cruises booked for next year.

Is there a RETREAT on Celebrity Reflection?
Cruise a holic replied to yogagal47's topic in Celebrity Cruises
No retreat as on the edge class ships. The reflection dosen't have a retreat deck. We rented a cabana on the lawn which was nice- but no pool or hot tub. We did get lunch offering, water, champagne and fruit and cheese platter. Bar service, but you charge to your account or if you have the drink package to the package. Instead of the retreat lounge, it was Michael's club- which was nice. Not sure if the S class ships have room for a true suite deck, with a bar/restaurant and water options. -
We recently did the chef's table. What a big disappointment. Never again. Menu wasn't nearly as good as in specialty restaurants. Never again.

Dining/Perk question for Edge - Royal Suite
Cruise a holic replied to sundancer girl's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We definately would prefer more space inside then outside in a Royal suite. The storage space two bathrooms and size of the cabin most important. You can enjoy the retreat sun and lounge deck. We don't need to sit on our balcony all day. We enjoy people watching and participating in some activities. I can stay home if I want a big deck, private pool and hot tub. -
Our first b/2/b cruise will happen end of december and first week in January. We have the same sky suite for both. What is the process now? Royal offers a special luncheon for b/2/b guests, does celebrity? We are on the Apex out of fort lauderdale. Any inforrmation would be appreciated. Thanks

They offer a "move up" program and a guarantee program. Not aware of other programs. You can also go immediately to the CS desk as soon as you board as they might be able to give you an upgrade if somebody cancels at the last minute-for a small upgrade charge-

We love cruising on big new Royal and Celebrity Ships. However, I must admit we did a couple of All inclusive resorts in Cancun and absolutely loved them. So while cruising is still our number one choice for a vacation, the AI's are another great option for us.

Art auctions -- a different viewpoint
Cruise a holic replied to Mum2Mercury's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We never participate in those "art auctions". Most items are prints, some with brush strokes of oil added to make the print look realistic. The only items we saw that were authentic are Fazzio's. His work can immediately be verified by emailing the artist in NY. However, shipping and other up charges make the purchase more expensive. We do not care about the "free" champagne. However some people IMO spend money in the Casino, so consider your "art" work a reminder of the trip. -
First Time on Edge Class - My Thoughts
Cruise a holic replied to TxnAquarian's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We love both ships for different reasons. Each has it's charm and is a great experience. We love the Lawn club grill on the silhouette- but if you are in a suite, the amenities on the Edge class cannot be beat. The retreat deck and lounge are fantastic! If you are in a regular cabin, you can dine around at three great restaurants- not one huge dining room like a catering hall. -
We also are light drinkers, however the food and amenities are worth the cost. Place is very comfortable with great service.
-
We usually give $20. Sometimes if exceptional service, or more then two people day, more per day.

First Time on Edge Class - My Thoughts
Cruise a holic replied to TxnAquarian's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Having sailed on the Edge previously, I was very impressed. Had previously sailed on all other classes of celebrity ships. The Edge class IMO is wonderful and unique. We loved the suite deck and retreat. We loved our s2 Sky suite. The infinate balcony isn't really good. Our friends in those cabins really didn't enjoy them. Not a true balcony. Really a window cabin. The window sometimes opens, but the captain can close it. Also, no AC if you have the "balcony" doors opens so the cabin gets very hot. Perhaps that has changed on the Apex and Beyond. We enjoy the restaurants on the Edge class and shopping- no cheesy trinkets Nice to look in the high end stores. We also enjoy the M and S class ships. -
Recommendation for RCL ship for Celebrity Fans
Cruise a holic replied to Maggie4nc's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Being a Royal Diamond plus and Celebrity Elite plus member, I would strongly suggest you try the Royal Oasis class ships. The Aqua shows are wonderful as are the iceskating show, broadway show, comedy and other entertainment venues are wonderful. We enjoy the layout of that class also. We had also tried the Quantum class and didn't really like it. Ship layout, entertainment not great. -

How full are the ships sailing now?
Cruise a holic replied to wallysdtr's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We sailed on the RC Adventure a few months ago- it was mobbed. Much less staff but full. The ship was in horrible condition also. We also did the Oasis- which was also full, but better service and amenities. When I booked cococay during and pre pandemic on Royal, paid $100 pp for the day, now over $300 pp. We sailed on the Equinox last march was much better staffing and the ship was at least 90% full, for the same thing- I understand we are in a period of inflation, but ....... -
Prices are crazy. Not only for the cruise, but for all of the exra's. The lines are clearly trying to make up for all of the lost revenue. So sad since many of us have lost income during the pandemic. We love to cruise and enjoy entry level suites, but will have to adjust. I don't know if any meaningful sales will happen as many prices have more then doubled.

Coco Cay Thrill Water Park question.
Cruise a holic replied to Homelines1977's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Yes Any one who goes into the water park must purchase a ticket. She will love it. I am sure that you will want to join her. -
I would recommend that you dine and see the qsine presentation at least once. Food was fine and if you do not like what is being served they will alter the menu for you. My DH doesn't eat any fish and they did provide him with a different meal. Also, they have two menus per week. You might prefer one menu over another. They give plenty of time between courses so that shouldn't be a problem. Enjoy

We really try to book sky suites or higher. However due to the obscene increases, might not in the future. We might consider CC class and dining nightly in sp restaurants. We are elite plus, but since the zenith level requires over 1400 more points then we have, we probably will never reach it. Celebrity should have a category between elite plus and zenith with increased benefits. -
My son, his wife and three children have booked the Family Oceanvie cabin. I was wondering if it has a sleeping alcove with bunk type beds for two (or three) children. Due to the cost concerns, they took a more cost effective cabin does not have a balcony. Anybody stay in a cabin like this have any information or pictures. Thanks,
