  1. Thank you so much for your reply. We would be going the last week of April which I've noticed is slightly cheaper. I wish we could travel during the cheaper season but with two kids in University and two kids in high school I am limited to times that I can scoop them away
  2. Thank you for your reply. I generally book with a carnival agent (maybe that's the pvp?).
  3. So I'm comparing the interior cabins. We don't spend a ton of time in our rooms and are fine with interior. But when we are in there we like some peace. So pros and cons..... Anyone know if they are different sizes? I'm guessing it's more peaceful in the Havana since small children aren't allowed? But.... I heard you can hear the theater at night. However we don't crash very early typically so that might be fine. We do nap mid afternoon though. Anything else to consider? Is the Havana outdoor area worth it?
  4. Hi there, We are looking to book a cruise for next April. Are there specific times of year that there are price reductions? Is American Black Friday a day when prices are reduced? Am I better to get it booked now for best price? Do they honor sale prices if I book now and it drops? I have sailed Carnival lots but not in a while so I forget this stuff. Thanks in advance for any help. Cruising with a big family is amazing but adds up so any savings would be helpful.
  5. This is all very helpful so far everyone. What is the crowd like? I just got off a bliss Cruise where I found everybody to be very outgoing and social but that's a very unique demographic. Are people like that on virgin?
  6. We're looking at doing a virgin cruise. Will we feel young? Is there a party scene? What's it like compared to other lines?

    Bimini?

Bimini is one of those ports where you really taken the local culture. It's not one of those ports where they built up a big grandiose welcoming area. We were there this week and we enjoyed taking the trolley around and then renting a golf cart from somebody that gave us the best price. We were a group of 5. We picked up beers at a local shop and drove to shipwreck Beach which was beautiful. We walked in the water, laid in the sand, and socialized with others there. We stopped at big John's for lunch on the way back. Friends of ours did the resort there and regretted it bc it was expensive and they could've just enjoyed the ship for much cheaper and no real difference
  8. We were just there this week. We took the trolley from the cruise ship and got off at the second stop. There will be people trying to get you to rent golf carts every time the trolley stops and you can just negotiate until you find one that you like. We paid $100 for a six-seater. We took our part all the way to shipwreck Beach which was beautiful. We picked up some beers and Waters along the way at one of the stores and enjoyed them on the beach
  9. I sail next week. My Canadian passport expires 6 months from the last day of our cruise. I also have a Nexus card that expires in several years so I'm just hoping for the best.
  10. If so, where from, how much? What advice can you give?
  11. This is a really tragic incident. Someone close to the family reported online that the victim had been partying with a bunch of peers that he met on the ship. The family did not contribute to his alcohol use. The father was trying to get him to come back to the cabin when the boy pushed his dad off and jumped. It really is sad and I'm keeping this family in my thoughts
  12. So if we did one person one device does that mean we can just put it on both of our phones but at different times?
  13. The internet is $26.99 on our sailing. Wowzers. I'm trying to understand the difference between buying two packages or buying one package with two devices. Can someonepls clarify? I think that if you get one person two devices you just can't both be on at the same time right?
  14. wow fabulous review. I loved it. Sorry if this was already answered.... I noticed you did the waterfalls with a tour group. Do you know if it's possible to taxi there and do it without a tour group? Any advice on pros/cons of this. We don't want to book through royal caribbean if we don't have to. thanks in advance.
  15. So yes I'm getting excited and planning some really minor details. My partner and I like to have a coffee in bed before getting up each morning. What are our options for this on the Mariner? Is room service complimentary? It has been for continental breaky on past cruises but I think that was Carnival and years ago. I don't recall a coffee maker in the cabins, am I mistaken? Is there a cafe close to use (deck 9, interior, looking at the promenade, mid ship i think). Other options?
  16. Hello everyone, I chose to post a question rather than search as the search function can be finicky and I know this info changes ship to ship and over time. I think the days of getting a welcome basket with a razor, lotion, etc are gone, right? I haven't sailed Royal in a few years. What's currently included in a basic cabin? Specifically i'm meaning hygiene and beauty items. I recall needing my own conditioner in the past, but not shampoo. Also, is there still a blow dryer? Is it adequate for basic hair styling? I don't need glamour and I prefer to pack light. That being said, we are going on a specialty cruise where I will want to get slightly glammed most evenings. We will be on the Mariner in an inside cabin with promenade view if this matters. Thank you in advance.
  17. Has anyone done a tour of the rum Distillery near there? I'd love any information you might have
  18. I have checked both of those Port schedules in our ship is not listed but we just changed itinerary this week so I'm not surprised. But it does look like Royal always docs at Taino
  19. We just found out that our Mariner of the Seas cruise will be moving from Haiti to Puerto Plata. I have never been there and don't have much experience with this port. I've been doing some reading on here and I can't quite figure out if we would be Amber Cove or something different. Can someone please break down for me how this works or where Royal Caribbean would typically be docking?
  20. Or possibly because people were starting to cancel or not book cruises that went there
  21. I find it fascinating that this post has so few replies. What happened to all the individuals that were saying this would never happen just two days ago?
  22. It is steep. It works out to about 8ish drinks a day each. I know when I go to resorts in Mexico that's easy to get through.
  23. My feeling on this is that you can't live thinking what if. You need to just go ahead and live life and if something causes you to Pivot along the way and change plans than you do it. Regarding the pandemic, it was worldwide enough that people were able to cancel their booking and rebook down the road. Our family was supposed to cruise the week everything shut down. When we did rebook we got a much better rate and we were given $3,000 of onboard credit. We were still able to enjoy the vacation that we booked just at a later time
  24. I am really torn right now. In the past I have always sailed with kids and being that the adults were split between two cabins, we were able to have the drink package for only one of us. Our next cruise will be an adults only Cruise was likely lots of partying. We only have two ports and one of them is a Royal Caribbean port which obviously accepts the drink package. The cost is $100 per day. The Money Saver in me wants to do the math and figure it out but the individual in me that doesn't like to look cheap and wants to just relax and enjoy doesn't want to have to Nickel and dime. Decisions decisions
