  1. To be honest we seenthe price savings re the train but always remember our last excursion with PO and a massive traffic jam. We were late back to the ship and there were others in the traffic chaos who had done private tours who must have been panicking. Personally we'd rather know the ship will wait.
  2. Yeah.... that's good news. One tradition returned !
  3. This is exactly what I was going to put. Rome on your own the best choice.
  4. Apparently I have a badge .... feel like one of the children in school. Have to behave myself now 🤣 Ps know you are jealous really ..... when you go on your next cruise you need to do a fab review. The competition begins! 😉
  5. But has anyone even seen info re the repositioning of Azura as we can't find it on any PO site. Is it happening? Thanks
  6. Wasn't meaning to resurrect this thread, but was looking at a cruise on Ventura for Sept 2024 and the only aft cabin left is B755. I googled asking for info on 'aft cabins on Ventura no beam' and ended up on here. It made me smile. Just double checking that B755 has no beam before we book. Help anyone / everyone :-)
  7. We have always fancied a repositioning cruise on Azura but due to work commitments have been unable to book. By 2025 it will be a different story .. yeah .. but we can't find the cruise. The last date in the brochure is March 7th in Tenerife and she reappears in Malta on the 27th Is she due a refit or something?
  8. We've done this tour on 3 ships and it has been well worth the money. It was about £75. Sometimes it isn't publicised and you need to go to Guest Services asap, ask if there is one and book on it. Its worked for us every time and can't ever remember seeing it advertised at all. May have all changed now suppose. Whatever get it booked and have a great time. 😀
  9. I think the main issue seems to be for anyone wanting to eat later ... say 7ish onwards .. or may be a little later. Spoke to someone who went early and it was ok.
  10. Sorry didn't see this. We would book an aft suite in a heart beat .. soot or no soot. There will be some but take a flannel to wipe it down and learn from our mistake and ask for it to be cleaned if needs be. We love an aft cabin and always have aft suite envy. Enjoy !
  11. I have a badge for my review. No idea what it means but I feel like the children in school when they get a special sticker !! Very excited :-)
  12. Crikey I only posted a review. What a debate that caused. Anyway, just to say that nothing will stop me from reviewing my cruises and being honest . Surely that is what it is all about and if it helps someone that's why we joined CC in the first place. Ps thanks for the many lovely comments from many of you. 😀
  13. You ate tempting us with Princess . Looks amazing. Have a lovely evening x
  14. Glad it isn't us .. all over the place!
  15. I can't see why not as we take our drinks and food to the cabin from the buffet sometimes. You've paid for it.
  16. This figure was given by the Captain on the formal night so isn't 'gossip'. Having thought about it, this cruise went on a Friday and IONA sailed the next day to more or less the same ports. We were surprised that there were 800 children on board. To be honest, we have a cruise booked on her from Barbados and are really excited about it. It will be different to sail out of school holidays. Does that make us 'real cruisers' ? (ha ha ha ha )
  17. To be fair there wasn't that much soot at all. I took some photos for Sarah, and you can hardly see anything. We take a cloth to wipe down any soot (on any aft cabin on P&O and Celebrity). It was the build up that caused a problem because it was never cleaned. Perhaps we shouldn't be so nice and tell the cabin steward it needs cleaning. but I felt that he was working flat out poor guy.
  18. We were told that over 2,000 passengers on the ship were new to P&O. I am becoming negative now and must switch my brain to positive mode and all the lovely stuff we experienced, which was overshadowed by this area. Perhaps I should start a 'Who hates the new FD System?' thread, like the ones we used to all fall out over like the dress code 🙂.
  19. I wasn't sure and was trying to give him answers, like were they more demanding but he was saying that they knew what they wanted. I suppose me saying that we had done lots of P&O cruises made him think that we knew that it wasn't right. To clarify for everyone what I meant re Fawlty Towers: +We waited until 8.50pm for a table booked from 7pm +The restaurant guy led us to a table at break neck speed across the whole length of the restaurant despite us having a member of our party with a walking stick +He left us at a table and walked off + All of the tables around us were full of dirty dishes etc etc +We waited about 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge we were there +We had menus and then waited another 10 minutes +The waiter went off in search of bread after another 5 minutes -- he returned with a half empty basket with hardly any bits left ..it was like the scraps he could find. Some butter arrived at some point. +Waiter headed off to find water -- we asked for a bottle when he returned and his face was a picture +We asked if we could order a drink. It eventually came as a glass of wine rather than a bottle ... hubby almost lost it at this point and he is Mr Calm and Patient normally +The first course was ok and followed quickly by the second. (In the mean time a lady in the table behind sent hers back as it was cold. She waited about 15 / 20 minutes for a replacement) +The desserts were ok +My friend had to ask if it was possible to have a coffee at all as no one had mentioned it +Some chocolates were almost thrown on the table at us as an after thought It didn't feel like Britannia the ship, but Britannia Hotels !!!!!!
  20. I nearly reminded him that there was a 6 week holiday looming so they needed to get their act together. Good luck in the main holidays ......
  21. Not sure if this posted Graham. We had F728 which made us think of you as you mentioned this cabin in the past.
  22. The term 'real cruisers' was an eye opener ! My friend, on her first cruise, looked stunned.
  23. Thanks for this reply - really appreciated your comments as I 'know you well enough' to know you say it as it is ! If I had a choice now I would head for club dining and second sitting. Those 3 nights really were not good and we got quite stressed about it. What I haven't posted is that when I asked one of the main waiters in the Meridian restaurant if it was 'always this busy' (The service had been dire) his answer was that it was busy and the school holidays. I asked how it compared to when it is not the school holidays. His answer was a stunner ... "That is when the real cruisers come who know what they want". I asked if this was because they were more demanding. He just kept saying that it was busy that week with lots of new cruisers and the school holidays and the ship being full. I said that we were regular cruisers that had to sail school holidays, but are regular cruisers. He then said "Next week it is not school holidays, so we will have to pull our socks up." (for the real cruisers) He himself knew it wasn't good enough, but what the stuff about needing to be better for 'real cruisers' meant I can only guess. Not sure what you take from that. I didn't put it in my review, but am sharing on here. The next night we went to the Peninsular. It is FAR better and the staff fabulous and more of what we expect. Good luck to Jeff and his team and thanks for restoring our faith 🙂 Re the entertainment. Sorry, we don't do the shows and enjoy a quiet drink. The vocalists seemed ok (ish) and the sailaway was ok. Other than that, sorry can't help.
