  1. Have to say I think the best meal we have ever had was on the IOS for my 50th. Think it was Chops Grill but may have been the other one ???? It was amazing.
  2. Help I am going round in circles trying to think of a special cruise for 2024 - probably 30th and retirement (?) We have looked at so many cruises on so many cruise lines as a special cruise - Cunard, Celebrity - and ports of call (most with places we have been to before but awesome and could be repeated). I keep coming back to the Caribbean for Spring 2024 on Britannia .... Hubby has been to Barbados -- I love Death in Paradise, but have never been before ------- and love RUM! You can read our cruise history below to see what we like. Can anyone who has done a 2 week Caribbean cruise with PO tell me why I should DO this cruise - Britannia 2 week, aft cabin we love, £6100 with £600 on board spend If we do it we will move the Christmas one booked for Christmas 2022. Help
  3. Welcome home --- how do you find those ships? They just look toooooo big for us and as far way from my idea of P&0. (Then again, PO seems to be far away from what I think of PO so not sure if that makes sense any more!) You seem to have had a great holiday --- I just want to know how you both cruise so much, have so many amazing meals and don't look like a beached whale? I am very jealous as I only have to LOOK at your photos and gain a pound!!! 😉
  4. I was very, very tempted to say something, but may get put on the naughty step ........
  5. We've had an aft cabin on EDGE and had F729 on Britannia twice. They are both excellent! I think (am not sure) that the larger ones go alternatively so the next larger one above would be on deck D ... but may be wrong. Have to say there will be some soot on there! We tend to avoid the top as it is less private (well used to be) and not deck E as it is too close to the Live Lounge and the noise. Whatever, enjoy those wake views - We have F728 for our cruise in May (swapped from an aft on IONA) and are really looking forward to it. EDGE is our favourite Celebrity ship and Britannia now our favourite P&O. They are both great ships in their own way (and the cabins great) but remember when you go that there is a significant difference in the price you pay ... PS re a rattle. Have yet to be in an aft cabin without some vibration when docking ... PPS I am a sun baby too and you will get the sun there, when facing the right way of course !!!!
  6. We had a similar sunset - just stunning tonight. We are 'on a hill' so like you we can see over the area. It was jaw dropping tonight.
  7. We looked direct. There were only tickets available from 4 pm and 5pm. Oh well another reason to go back some time.
  8. Just checked and all time slots until 4pm are all sold out 😞 Oh well, you live and learn --- looks like it is the micro brewery then !!!!
  9. Thanks everyone. Looks like we will be doing this on our own then 🙂. Another excursion sorted - more or less done now. Just hoping the sky lift one is open when we go.
  10. I look at your photos and wonder why you do not look like Billy Bunter Graham? Can you please pass on the secret !! 😉
  11. Thanks everyone. My friend would be ok for the above. Am off to check other ships but hoping just Britannia at the moment 🙂 PS I can't believe I am posting this --- it seems soooooooooooo long since I felt this excited about going back on a cruise and sorting stuff! LOVE Britannia so it will be like coming home. I feel like we've got our cruising mojo back after too long !!!
  12. How about disabled people who have some walking issues but who can walk with a walking stick?
  13. We are going to Norway in May and the excursions for this one are sold out. Just wondering how easy it is to book a ticket and do it ourselves from the ship. My friend coming with us is classed as disabled so please take that in to consideration if you can. Many thanks everyone
  14. We stayed in an aft cabin on deck 11 - sorry can't remember the number, but it was PERFECT! (Think it was something like 11270 .. 0r those numbers in a different order 720 etc .. ha ha) We absolutely loved it. It was large, had seats, a coffee table and 2 sun loungers. Very quiet and private. Would not hesitate to book one again, though we think we would go lower and in the middle as those balconies are larger. Perhaps avoid one that is right above Eden. PS Just noticed that someone above has had 11270 so that sounds right 😉
  15. Beautiful church Graham - curious re those favourite 2 hymns. Wonder if they match ours 😉
  16. Hi, no, but we have had the central heating engineer and electricians out from the company who service our gas. Sadly it is 20 yrs old or more and not a condensing boiler (or so my hubby tells me). Its leaking which has blown the electrics. In a nutshell it has died of old age ! Have had it over 20 yrs - probably about 23 yrs - so it doesn't owe us anything as we've never had an issue with it before at all.
  17. Morning, freezing cold here. Just been out to feed the birds and refresh the water and now glad to be back inside. Well, I say that but our gas boiler has broken so no central heating or water, but we are of the generation that grew up with no central heating so are going back to our roots! Its amazing how much you appreciate a kettle at times like this, a gas fire and an oil filled radiator we usually use in our caravan ! Brandy helps too ...... so if I'm slurring my words later on today please forgive me 😉 🙂
  18. Hi, I think I have posted this before many moons ago but can't find it ! In May we are taking a friend with us on her first ever cruise. It has been postponed for what seems like forever but we are all now excited as it will be our first cruise since 2019 as well. She is a vegetarian so can anyone give us some tips on the best places to eat. We are on Britannia so we would usually eat in the speciality restaurants and Glass House as well as the main dining room. Looking at the menus there doesn't seem to be a lot for a vegetarian though. Perhaps it is me but it would be helpful to hear the views of anyone who can help us. Thanks
  19. We have never purchased a drinks package to be honest and the last couple of times on Celebrity the cruise came with a 'free' drinks package. It is a lot of money if you have it for 2 weeks for 2 people. Ouch
  20. Thanks Hattie. Just checking - if you have a drink that is not in the package are you given the 20% discount off them?
  21. Our last cruise was on Celebrity EDGE in August 2019 when the Edge class ships and concepts were relatively new. There was a lot of talk at the time about Eden and the entertainment team in there. (Some of us likened it to an episode of Star Trek 😉 ). Sadly, it put us off using Eden and we avoided the place - a shame as it was a nice location. Just wondering what the entertainment in Eden is like for the Edge class ships now. I've had a look at youtube and it seems very different from when we went. If is still a bit wacky? At the moment we are thinking Beyond, but am guessing it is the same on all of the ships. Thanks
  22. Hi, when I priced it up it is coming out at about £500 more than a 14 night fly / cruise on Azura at about the same time - standard balconies on both. I am guessing that Cunard is similar to Celebrity in that: your gratuities are steep (not sure what they are); drinks are expensive and as Teddy123 has noted excursions are more expensive (even if the same). You pay in dollars don't you ? As former P&O passengers we would get 7.5% off our bill on Azura. I suppose those things add up. Do Cunard do a drinks package? If so, is it 'silly money' ?
  23. If that's the case this is what we are used to when we travel and go to a land hotel or cruise so this great 🙂 I may need to shop though ---- I really, really do 😉
  24. In Summer, is a smart, short sleeved, collared shirt and smart long trousers ok ?
