Actually, that’s not accurate. Figuring that there are about five glasses of wine in a bottle, that would be a 500% markup. Most restaurants mark up from 200 -300% I’ve almost never seen markups over 400%.

Considering that the $12/glass Riesling retails for less than $10/bottle, those prices are pretty outrageous.

To anyone who has done this cruise…is the food quality/variety any different from a European cruise?

I’ve booked one of those by accident and was pleased to find out later about the deeper balcony but then I started wondering..do they make the cabin darker?

How far in advance can you generally see the specific menus for a cruise?

Specifically, can anyone say if the food quality/variety is any different for cruises leaving from Tokyo? It’s a long way from Miami.

We are cruising Japan next May and I see that many excursions are already showing as sold out. What are the chances that Celebrity will add more excursion availability in the coming months?

Thank you for being conscientious. I noticed two quarantine cabins just on our deck. Also, our cruise director was out for the first week because he was “under the weather”. Of course, Viking staff never mentioned the C word.

It’s a review of my fellow passengers. I just completed my Venus cruise (which was lovely) last Friday. I’ve been mask wearing ‘situationally’ for some time and continued to do so on the ship; wearing one on the elevators and tenders and other crowded places.Both my wife (who wore hers pretty much all the time) and I received cracks from a few other passengers such as the ‘gentleman’ who smirked at me on the elevator and said..”I just had Covid last week!” For two weeks, we witnessed countless passengers with horrible hacking coughs who could not be bothered to wear masks which were made available in multiple places on the ship. Less than ten percent of our fellow passengers wore masks although that number seemed to increase over the course of the cruise. I started feeling symptoms the day after I got off the ship and tested positive after I got home. My more careful wife tested negative (so far). So, for anyone with an upcoming cruise, please be aware that there will probably be plenty of Covid on your ship being spread by irresponsible passengers.

We are booked for that next week and the final ‘paperwork’ still says the Thon Opera.

I should be getting on Venus the day you get off. 🙂 Do you mind giving info on the Covid situation on board, I.e. mask wearing, evidence of quarantining, etc. ?

Or…it could just be that most travelers haven’t really been affected that much. Stats show that at every European airport, the flight cancellations are well below 10%. As the news does, bad stuff gets the attention. I hear about horrible car crashes every day, but they doesn’t mean I’m likely to experience one.

Are they readily available? We’ll be arriving in two weeks and I’d rather not purchase kroner in the US. I know that Norway is a mostly cashless society but I always like to carry a little local currency.

Unfortunately, they’re closed for the next month or so. I was really looking forward to dining there.
