  1. I was also told the healthcare OBC can only be used once per calendar year. Has anyone else heard this?
  2. Same problems here. HAL gets my vote for the Best Cruise Line with the worst website.
  3. Send me an email at mattandnay@yahoo.com and I will put you in touch with someone that may be able to help you.
  4. Thanksfully my PCC is still in Seattle, but recent experience with Ship Services has been routed to a call center in the Phillipines. I was trying to book a Family Cabana in the Retreat. It was quite the fiasco!
  5. Same message here. Their website was bad before and has only gotten worse.
  6. Glad to hear that and hope it continues that way. We didn't have to fill out a health questionnaire on our July New England cruise. Seems strange that they would do away with them.
  7. I am enjoying following your cruise journey. How does the general health seem about the ship? Do you notice many people coughing? We have friends currently on the Grand Princess and they say the entire ship is coughing.
  8. Ha ha! I love it! I gurantee you I will try crossing it on my next cruise to see if alarms start goig off. Who knows....I might make some new friends :)
  9. Thanks again for the information. I use a wheelchair full-time and get to board early on Holland America. Do they do the same on Princess? If so, we will get on as soon as we can and I will send my able-bodied wife sprinting up those 17 flights of stairs to get in line for a cabana :)
  10. Exactly the information I needed! Thanks all and thanks @HaveDogWillTravel for the detailed info and photos. This is definitely something we will try to do.
  11. My wife and I typically cruise on Holland America. She wanted to do something different for her 50th birthday, so we have a 7-day January cruise booked on the Sky Princess. We love renting the Retreat Cabanas on HAL, so I’m interested in finding out the procedure for renting a cabana in The Sanctuary. Can they be booked before the cruise? What is the cost to rent for the week? I couldn’t find this information on the Princess website so if it is there, could someone please post a link? Thank you!
  12. I am in a rigid frame, manual wheelchair. We typically cuise out of Ft Lauderdale where I am accustomed to accessible taxis that I simply roll up into the back of. Unfortunately there are no cruises out of Ft Lauderdale when we want to go, so I am looking at other options.
  13. Curious to hear about options for accessible transportation to/from MCO to Port Canaveral. What options are there? Thanks!
  14. Retreat cabana availabilty is a top prority for us when searching for cruises. I am a full time wheelchair user and the cabanas work great for us. We always know we have a place to sit and relax together, whether we want shade or sun. The cabana attendants always take great care of us. The majority of excursions are not wheelchair accessible, so our "excursion money" is spent on a cabana. Do you know how difficult it can be to find an accessible bathroom in the Caribbean? We do generally take warm weather cruises, so the cabanas are useable most of the time. We did have one cruise that was very windy and rainy, making the cabana unuseable for a couple of days. But we have also had some very enjoyable memories of sitting in our cabana during a Caribbean downpour. I guess my point is, the cabanas are great for us and we will spend the money for one every chance we get.
  15. Are there refrigerators in the cabins on the Zaandam?
  16. Anyone have experince using Lyft Access for transportation in Boston?
  17. Thanks for the info! We are only looking for transportation to and from the airport/cruise port. I am not certified for complimentary public transportation. I am a paraplegic and thankfully can drive myself.
  18. Anyone have experience with wheelchair accessible transportation to and from the ship in Boston? I did post this on the Disabled Forum and didn’t get much response. Thanks for any suggestions you may have!
  19. An accessible taxi. I called the regular number and when I said I needed accessible they gave me another number to call.
  20. I used the Yellow Cab reservation system last November. We arrived the day before our cruise and I called from our hotel and asked for pickup the next day at 10 AM. The cab showed up as promised and it worked great.
  21. You can get an accessible taxi from the taxi stand, which is just outside the baggage claim area. You may have to wait a few minutes, but they will come. Same thing when you get off the ship, except it's a police officer that will call the accessible taxi for you.
  22. We've had both rear facing and side facing Retreat Cabanas. I prefer the view over the breeze because to me the breeze difference was not much. The link below is to my photo gallery from our trips. https://pbase.com/510picker/cruise_gallery
  23. I emailed one this past Tuesday at 2 PM for a cruise in July. I received a reply at 2:34 PM the same day confirming that it had been approved.
