  1. Does anyone have a list of the latest suite concierges for the RCI fleet please. Thanks in advance
  2. We’re on Explorer in grand suite 1270 at the moment and I haven’t heard any noise at all.
  3. Thanks gumshoe. Yes the famous BA IT system. Noticed there was a number of flights cancelled today but we were very lucky which I’m relieved about
  4. Sitting in my hotel in Ravenna having had an interesting journey here. Eventually got to Heathrow T5 as our motorway was closed in sections at the time we left home. It was a case of back roads etc but we arrived only 15 mins late. As the T5 security staff strike was on we had a bit of trepidation prior to arriving at the airport. However, the folk who manned the strikers posts did a great job manoeuvring everyone through and although it was extremely busy we go through with a bit of time to spare. The flight was uneventful. Organised a transfer with the hotel and that went very smoothly. Ravenna is a nice place with a lot of history which we will explore tomorrow. I received an email tonight from RCI confirming that we will be sailing from Ravenna on Sunday. Not sure why the email was delivered on the Friday before the sailing on the Sunday but still relieved about it. Weather here is stunningly gorgeous with hot, sunny weather which is fab
  5. My family and I are flying out of Heathrow on Friday when the strike starts. I’ve been told by a friend in border force that the disruption is more significant coming back in to the UK apparently. I hope that proves to be true and we get through security on Friday morning painlessly. If I get a chance I’ll post here how we get on Seagbrook
  6. Just read that the nationwide air transport strike has been shifted to 4th June (not 6th) from 19th May. Sod’s Law, we’re flying back to the UK on 4th June.
  7. Just heard back from the concierge on board and he has not been briefed as yet on where we will be boarding but will let me know as soon as he finds out. I’m getting a wee bit worried now albeit I guess it’s understandable given the circumstances
  8. I’ve just had an email from the suite concierge and have asked him my main question about the embarkation port for this Sunday coming. I’ll let you know what he advises
  9. Had a look and it suggests that they’re running coaches for this journey presently. However, you can book a train ticket Venice to Ravenna for Saturday 27th which suggests they’re reopening this line before then. Not sure if the logic is accurate and will see if I can find out something more precise.
  10. I wonder if that would stop RCI from transferring back to Ravenna
  11. Sorry Pstone1 just clicked my brain into gear and now realise you’ve just come off the ship. Best wishes
  12. Thanks Pstone1 for your very comprehensive post. Well done to RCI for their endeavours and organisation. I’m hoping this is a one off and things will resume as normal on Sunday. Thanks again
  13. Thanks crazyank. I’ve got my fingers, toes and everything you can think of crossed
  14. I would be very grateful to hear from anyone on board Explorer just now what you have been advised regarding disembarkation next Sunday. Have you been advised that it’ll be Ravenna or Trieste please. Thanks in advance
  15. Checked with my hotel this morning and the motorways are all open again and she confirmed that the train station should open tomorrow. That’s good news in regard to the ships sailing from Ravenna. Celebrity have not changed their plans and have so far advised that they will be sailing from Ravenna on 25th this week. Just got to keep those fingers crossed
  16. Thanks for posting this sowhat. That’s pretty early for the departure to Bologna airport but completely understandable. I presume these transfers are booked on board.
  17. Ha ha that’s great. Just phoned Royal Caribbean and as I expected there was no update. Guy was trying to fob me off that they will transfer guests from Ravenna to Trieste. When I told him that would take at least 5 hours he re-read his script and changed it from Venice to Trieste ( takes 2.5 hours he said). He’s been told that the cruise on 28th is as planned, going from Ravenna. I’ve what’s app’ed my hotel in Ravenna this morning and they have advised that some of the back streets in Ravenna area have now cleared and are open again. However, the railway line between Bologna and Ravenna is still closed. I’m presuming that they’ve had landslides as well as flooding to contend with. Clearing that from a railway track will take time I guess. He also told me that I’ll get an email if things change re embarkation. I asked him when that would happen and he said if arrangements change and if they don’t I won’t get an email. I told him that was absurd being left on the hook so to speak. I’ll phone back on Monday as I will not be fobbed off easily.
