  1. Thanks all. We spent a week in Key West about a decade ago, and really enjoyed it. One of the nice things about stopping there on a cruise is seeing the things that have changed, and of course the things that haven’t changed. Chickens!
  2. We are considering a November cruise and there are 2 options. One is a western with stops at Falmouth, Cozumel and Grand Cayman, all of which we have visited. The second is eastern with Amber Cove, Grand Turk and Key West. We love Key West, but have not visited the other ports. Both visit Half Moon, so that is not an issue. And, as it is Nieuw Amsterdam or Eurodam, that is not an issue either. The prices are similar for both. If any of you have done the eastern itinerary, what did you think? Thanks!
  3. Thanks for the responses, although both sound great, so I am still torn!
  4. We are considering a cruise on Vista and the title says it all. The cabins are similar in price. We do enjoy have a balcony and find the cove balcony very appealing as it is so close to the water. But, the Havana area has nice amenities. I wonder though if all of the loungers get reserved very early in the morning so that the premium for the Havana area would not be worth it. Also, are people permitted to smoke in the Havana area, as they may also affect our decision. Thanks!
  5. I hope you all, and especially my folks, have a wonderful cruise!!!
  6. I do not have advice about traveling with a child, but would recommend booking your room as soon as possible. The ships have a limited number of HA rooms, and they may already be booked for May.
  7. On both BTBs we've done we were invited to Cove Cafe for complementary coffees and snacks. There were several officers present and we had nice conversations with them.
  8. We have done brunch on the morning of Key West when on a cruise from Galveston. But, that cruise did not arrive into port until about noon. The Magic will arrive in the morning to Key West, so a Palo brunch would be very unlikely.
  9. Thank you all for the tips. My parents are not on Cruise Critic or social media, or I would encourage them to join the roll call. Can any of you tell me if laundry soap is provided on the ship?
  10. Hello all, I asked this question on the Viking forum, but it was suggested I ask here too. My folks will be going on the Viking Sun world cruise in January. They have never done a cruise of this length before, although they have sailed on the Viking Sun previously in the Med. I would like to get together a little gift basket of items that might be helpful on such a long cruise. Is there anything people who have done a world cruise with Viking would recommend? I know they will have to do laundry, is laundry soap included? TIA p.s. I am completely jealous of all of you that get to take such an amazing trip. I hope to get to do this someday.

  12. Marineland Tours does a tour with just Stingray city - http://www.marinelandtours.com/ Your boyfriend should definitely wear goggles or a mask while at the stingray sandbar.
