  1. But you would have arrived in Seward in time to take Kenai Fjords boat tour. My favorite Alaska activity.
  2. I'm thinking the small boat excursion in TA is more scenic than Hubbard.
  3. That photo is one of the reasons I really like Icy Strait Point. So peaceful.
  4. Lots of people with missing teeth at Bass and Cabela's.
  5. I wouldn't necessarily call Major Marine the "main company" in Seward. Kenai Fjords Tours appears to do a comparable amount of trips out of Seward.

    Seasick?

Despite their maps showing otherwise, Norwegian sails on the west side of Vancouver Island. Very misleading advertising IMO.
  7. Near the dock area at Icy Strait Point.
  8. Just don't take the ship's whale watching excursion. As many people as they can cram onto the boat.

Do you know on which side of Vancouver Island you will be sailing north? With respect to rough seas, east side = good. West side = maybe bad.
  10. That sucks. I had something similar happen last year. Easy to find someone to do the demo and drying; not so easy to find someone to do the reconstruction. Hopefully your contractor situation is better in Vancouver.
  11. I parked at Canada Place last year for my 7-day cruise after driving up from Oregon. Entry is easy; just like any other parking structure. No assigned space, but there are areas for longer term parking. I was staying one night at Pan Pacific so very easy to access hotel. The only issues I had were upon exiting the garage at the end of my cruise. I had a bar code which should have opened the exit gate. Unfortunately, it wasn't working. Had to wait for one of the few attendants to wander by and see that there was a problem. It took them a few minutes to get the gate to work. Also, be careful when you book your reservation that you specify your arrival time at Canada Place. The website defaults to a midnight arrival time on your arrival date so I got charged for an extra day. I tried to resolve the matter after the fact, but company was not responsive. Things may have changed since then. I got Covid the last day of the cruise so I was happy that my car was waiting for me in Vancouver at the end of the cruise.
  12. NCL is chickening out of Hubbard if there is ice within 50 miles of the ship. (Perhaps I exaggerate. A little).
  13. The Marquise is rather phallic in its shape.
  14. After checking your bags at the depot, take the 6:45 a.m. train from Anchorage the morning of your cruise. After arriving in Seward around 11:00 a.m., immediately board the Kenai Fjords or Marine Major 6 hour boat tour of the Kenai. It returns to Seward around 5:00 p.m., in plenty of time to board your cruise ship. The Kenai may be the best "excursion" you do in all of Alaska. The bags you checked in Anchorage will be waiting for you in your stateroom. It really couldn't be easier.
  15. Not exactly the "same route". The train, while slower and more expensive, is much more scenic, IMO.
  16. I prefer the 6:45 a.m. train to Seward booked directly with Alaska RR. No, you can't pick you seat location. On Gold Star service (maybe Adventure too) all seats are forward facing. I've never found the lack of a window seat to be an issue. People are up and moving about the train and window views are available (at least temporarily) for most of the trip. If you take the late NCL train, you will miss out on the taking a boat tour of the Kenai Fjords, which for me is the highlight of the cruise.
