    My understanding was that Club Orange had to be paid when an upgraded cabin was assigned.

    I think if they are going to raise the price of the drinks they should raise the allowance for the drinks. You shouldn't have to buy an upgrade to get a standard drink.

    The phone calls are recorded at HAL. If you know the date you made the reservation, they can access the recording and determine what you were told during the conversation.

    Usually the continuing education group on HAL ships is very small.

    My understanding was that the only way to get Club Orange refunded was to cancel the entire cruise.

    My understanding is that the credit is per person. I haven't received an email for years but can always apply the code to a new booking within the time period.

    I can't believe that somebody at HAL actually went to the trouble of checking into this situation and then getting back to you with a resolution. This is like the old days which I thought were long gone.

    You should call back and you might get a different answer from a different person. If not, ask to speak to a pricing specialist.

    But that was before they allowed you to order a drink over the limit and pay the difference. Maybe they plan to making more money this way. It adds up.

    It must be a mistake because it doesn't make any sense.

    Club Orange is refunded with whatever deposit you paid if you cancel the entire cruise. It cannot be cancelled on a cruise you intend to sail.

    Yes you can refare with Club Orange. It is just very complicated. The category that you pay for is the controlling price. So if you pay for a VF and get upgraded to a VB, the refare is based on VF. However, you have to get an agent who understands this. Most of them insist that the VB is controlling and you have to get transferred to a resolution specialist to make it work.

    No matter how hard it is, talking with someone on the phone is the best way to get this resolved.

    I also pick the deck below the Lido. It is so convenient and we have never been bothered by noise.
