  1. Yes, X are redeploying Millennium to the West Coast (US) and Royal’s Spectrum of the Seas to Australia, out of Asia and the issues of finding somewhere to dock. They are offering free cruises to fire operatives and emergency service operatives (fantastic, positive PR for them in this awful situation in Asia). See above post for details.
  2. Correct: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-51514837
  3. True, but mine was a hypothetical question about would you feel the same if the outbreak was in the Caribbean instead of Asia. The outbreak is there - no what ifs. Would the cancellations rise if it was closer to home (well, yours not mine 🙂)? Just asking a question, like the OP did on their first post.
  4. Most of you are referring to Caribbean cruises when you say you are still taking them, but if an outbreak occurred in that area, such as the one on Diamond Princess, in the next few weeks, would you still be taking those Caribbean cruises without worrying? Hopefully, you won’t have to make this difficult decision and the virus is contained.
  5. Looks like they changed the port of embarkation for Connie from Singapore to Dubai too.
  6. There will undoubtedly be more as what about all the people he came into contact with on the flights back to the U.K. via France etc? Or the people at the pub he went into when he got back? It’s surprising how many other people one person can infect in such a short period of time.

  8. After a confirmed case from passenger who has recently disembarked Diamond Princess: https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/japan-to-quarantine-cruise-ship-on-which-virus-patient-sailed-2020-02-03 https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2730905-diamond-princess-passenger-tested-positive-for-wuhan-coronavirus/
  9. They did change it on X after many years of being able to do it and many posts stating how.
  10. Yes, give me the Cotswolds, Cornwall, Somerset, Devon etc. any day than some of the large cities.
  11. Reflection is our least favourite X ship (far too crowded for our liking in Europe in peak season), but for that much price difference, I’d go with X. July too warm - I think not - best bring your waterproofs 🤣.
  12. Yes, even more so when you’re around that age and the kids at school still ask if you were evacuated during World War II 🙈.
  13. This is incorrect. As long as the cabin is next to, adjoining, connecting or across the hall from the adults, minors are allowed in their own cabin. Unsure why you think it’s different in Europe; my kids have been doing it for years.
  14. Royal Caribbean. I think Enchantment of the Seas was cut and the middle section added.
  15. Always check on on both sides of the pond before you book - you may be pleasantly surprised 😉.
  16. Nothing is free. You are paying for those items, they are just included with the initial pricing 😉. We feel X and Princess are more similar than different. However, many say the suite experience, since they have thrown all their energies in that direction, is better on X. X’s prices after the Edge class was released were off the spectrum. Luckily, we decided to give other lines a try as itineraries are more important to us. We do consider both lines as the Elite perks are not something that would keep us to a particular line, whilst missing out on other great places to explore. Thanks for the review.
  17. We did that itinerary back in 2012 over Christmas - enjoy! Our kids loved that they could catch up with their cousins at the same time 😉.
  18. Agree, not worth the airfare so we’d do a B2B. 7 nights would have to be Norway, closer for us.
  19. There are always 7 persons in our party and we do tend to prebook online for Select prior to the cruise. I would contact the above reservation dept. if you want to eat at a certain time each evening with the children. At least then you will not be worrying about a long wait for a table to accommodate you all.
  20. Over the years, it’s always been documented on CC that the one area where the cruise lines are nearly always cheaper than direct from the airlines is one way flights.
