Definitely a ‘hit and miss time’ for the weather in this part of the Mediterranean at this time of year…We have experienced everything from glorious sunshine to torrential downpours!

Op, hope you have a wonderful cruise. I would be interested in feedback on Luminae and Michael’s Club once you have experienced both a few times.

Yes, we were very fortunate with the weather. Michael’s Club looked empty every time we ventured past - our sailing was not full though. Obviously, the OP will be able to give you more feedback 👍.

We are already on the second day on board, have already visited Thessaloniki today, a city that doesn't really come into its own in the rather modest weather.

(I didn't take a lot of pictures - so the choice is really poor...

what you do see is the cloudy weather though)

The weather was sunny there last week when we visited and many locals were out walking on the promenade.

Thanks for your comments. I am a teacher and so the option to sail out of school holidays isn’t there at the moment.
I don’t particularly mind there being children onboard but it struck me that Celebrity could easily make a couple of the M class ships adult only and offer something different. For as many people as they lose (families) they would undoubtedly gain with people who prefer adult only ships with different itineraries.
They have a lot more ships than they used to and rather than trying to be all things to all people across all ships they could create something different with the M class ships. I imagine the alternative eventually will be to sell them off. I don’t think Celebrity should be an adult only line as we also enjoyed the brand with our children but it would be nice to have options.

We’ve just returned from Infinity on the sailing prior to yours and there were only a handful of kids on the cruise - it was virtually an adult-only sailing. It was our first time cruising out of school holidays and we did notice a difference. I’ve taken early retirement so that we can travel when we want rather than being forced to school holidays; for us, it was more about being able to take cruises to certain destinations at particular times of the year e.g. Mardi Gras etc. that we wanted and, of course, the huge price difference. Our kids have grown up cruising X and are still wanting to sail with us now they are adults - something that I presume X wants.

  4. Just got off Infinity yesterday and we were pleasantly surprised with the condition of the ship; in fact, it didn’t really feel any different to the last time we were on her. We stayed on deck 11 in an Aqua cabin and our shower had the door and body jets. Capacity was 2047, so it did feel relatively quiet - perhaps more will be on the present sailing as it’s over Easter.

The toilet paper was not how I remembered it pre-pandemic. It was similar to the greaseproof paper type we used to have in schools over here in the 70s 🙈. I can’t ever remember X using this type previously.

We liked the fact that you could order off the main menu as well as Blu because there was a lot of duck on the Blu menus. The service was fabulous and most staff were very friendly and accommodating.

I didn’t really have a problem with the internet - perhaps because our numbers were lower 🤷‍♀️. We used the Persian Garden and it also was very quiet.

It’s the first time we’ve ever sailed outside of school holidays and we definitely noticed the difference 👍. We are in one the aft verandas on Millie in Japan. I’m interested to see the difference as she’s been revolutionised.

Maybe that's because she didn't go through the Kelly Hoppens "Revolution"   Which can be a good thing.   The furniture throughout the ship is comfortable and functional.

Just returned from Infinity, which has not been revolutionised either, and we did not have foot stools. Chairs and small table only in Aqua.

the OP is an American so I was replying in the same "language". I have this issue every day as our English son is now an American citizen, our Grandson is 100% raised in America and our grandson's mum is 100% American.

    I believe you 😉😂.

Move ups to a suite were on offer for £50pppn.

Yes, same for us but as this was an extra cruise for this year, we didn’t bother bidding from our Aqua cabin. The only main difference would have been a slightly bigger cabin, which still wouldn’t have been updated. I’m presuming that most of the ship will be mainly Brits because the pricing was so cheap over here, due to the redeployment.

different rules in the UK to the US.

Our (the UK) system is much simpler as our Travel Insurance covers: the travel/cancellation, baggage, injury, and medical in one policy. Plus we can get an Annual Policy that covers an unlimited number of trips (usually up to 31 days per trip) worldwide with the option to increase cover and to travel for longer than 31 days.

I know, but it’s still worth checking the policy to make sure that what is quoted is for the two of them or pp, as was stated by another US poster above.

I think the 5k is per policy.

I would double check this as I recently confirmed with my insurance company as we have a family policy and I was informed that the amount quoted on the document was per person (I was concerned that the amount was too low and they stated it was pp).

We are also on this cruise next week….we too are hoping it will just be two thirds full!  🤞 Just pondering what to take clothes wise…..decisions, decisions on whether it’s going to be sunny! 😎

    I’m going for layers.

Well it’s our first time on this ship so can’t say much about upgrades, still got the shower curtain lol! But we have sailed many time on the same class so easy to navigate, staff are great as always, old menus are back so better than Reflection in September 2023.
Having a good time though the weather would of been warmer with the original itinerary, have booked two cruises while onboard for next year so that speaks for itself.I am sure you will enjoy the next cruise we are sailing 2/3rds full so nice! Dianne

Glad you are having a super time. I do hope it’s only 2/3rds full when we join you next week 🤞🏻. We’re definitely looking forward to some R&R.

I've been cruising BOTH lines from back in the late 80s...I'm Diamond Plus AND Elite Plus (without any benefit from "reciprocity"...by the time that began, I was already beyond Diamond and Elite independently)...and I have NEVER received a single point or credit on one line from having cruised on the other.

They changed the system from one point per cruise on both lines around 2014-2015...But that change only affected how points were awarded (per night on both lines with Celebrity going to higher multipliers for cabin categories) but NOT for which cruise line you were on.  Levels up to Diamond/Elite became reciprocal, but points were NEVER accounted to a line other than the one sailed.

Agree. We had one or two credits per cruise, depending on length if I recall rightly, and they were converted to points when it changed over around 10 years ago, but both were kept independent of the line you cruised.

From X’s section in past cruise history online:

Before November 25, 2013 members earned one loyalty credit for each of the following scenarios:

    • Sailing on any cruise
    • Sailing on any itinerary of 12 nights or longer, including Cruise Tours (applicable to sailings on or after January 1, 2003)
    • Sailing in a Concierge Class stateroom, Aqua Class stateroom or Suite (applicable to sailings on or after January 1, 2004)

On November 25, 2013 Captain’s Club converted from awarding credits to awarding Club Points based on number of nights and stateroom category. Credits earned prior to this date were converted to Club Points at a rate of 1 credit to 30 Club Points.

  13. Does soda on the HH menu include mocktails (non-frozen drinks) or is it just limited to single items in cans? We’ve always had the package previously, so this is a new experience for us - change is as good as a rest 🤣.

We were on the voyage prior to this one, disembarking in Mumbai. We did a safari of the Yala nature reseve in Hambantota, Sri Lanka. Tour was very good with Merganser holidays for about $105 pp.

Thank you, that’s the same route as ours 👍. I’ll take a look at the tour you mentioned. Did you find all the visas easy enough to obtain?

It just so happens that we’re on Millie both this year and next. Looking forward to seeing how she’s been updated since our last sailing on her 👍.

Ports were great.  Tuk-tuk drivers in Colombo were an absolute nightmare though.  They followed us for a kilometre and more trying to get us to take a tour when we just wanted a walk!

Did you cruise Mumbai to Singapore?  If so, did you take any independent tours or were they all from the ship? Would welcome any recommendations as we’re cruising the same itinerary, in the opposite direction, next year.

We have just booked our flights direct with the airline, as FBC quoted an additional 25% if we booked through them. It was a no-brainer.

    25%!! more expensive 😲

That’s why I suggested to check as it only appears to be favourable on this side of the pond if they are running a promotion. Glad you are sorted 👍.
