If you do a google search, there are hundreds to choose from. Why not come straight to the source and get some personal recommendations.
Also, about how far out to make the reservation? 30 days? 90 days? 180 days?

For example, flying USA-DOH-AUH, the short leg was coded as F, which allowed use of the Al Safwa first class lounge which is a sensational place.
Thanks for the insight.
Ticketed as "R"

Thanks I and my wife are in our sixty's this is all new to us.
I had to ask my high schooler a few years back how to text.
He laughed at me until I reminded him that I taught him how to wipe his butt and how to drive a car.

Have you a source for this?
The ETA is a visa waiver, and AFAIK you don't need a visa to transit in the UK (as long as you don't cross the UK border) even if you'd otherwise need one to enter the UK.
This is my source that I have used.
I followed the link for "Transit", I indicated I was a US citizen, I indicated that I was just "transiting", I indicated that I was transiting "somewhere else" (outside the UK), final answer was that after 27 November 2024, I would need to apply for an ETA.
You do not need a visa to come to the UK - Check if you need a UK visa - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

We're flying into Doha on QR in Business Class, have a 16 hour layover, have hotel reserved at DOH in the Oryx Airside Transit Hotel. Then fly out the next morning in Business Class to our final destination. (Side Note: NOT Business Lite)
Any reason that you can think of as to why we couldn't just have dinner in the Al Mourjan Lounge since they do offer a' la carte dining.
Or, maybe someone has experience at this airport and can offer another suggestion for dining in the airport.

Depends on your State of residency laws/regulations and the terms and conditions of the policy you want to purchase.
Some States require/therefore the policy requires under certain circumstances that you include ALL trips costs for XYZ to be covered. Some States and/or policies don't require it for XYZ to be covered.
Would probably be best if you were to use a broker in this instance. Someone like,,,, oh, I don't know,,,, Steve!. Yep, Steve at Get the Best Trip Insurance Details, Advice (tripinsurancestore.com)

Will sound rude, but not meant to be rude.
Yes, what you want to do can be done.
However, having people on an internet web site tell you 50 different ways it can be done (and you're still confused),, ask your neighborhood grade school kid to show you. Ask you're grandkids to show you.
Yes, they may laugh at you for asking for help on what they consider a simple task, but they'll enjoy it.
and FWIW, WhatsApp is the easiest to use, uses less bandwidth, is encrypted, not blocked by the cruiselines, can call/video anywhere in the world,,,, caveat? the phone or device you are calling must also download WhatsApp

ETA will be required even if only transiting the airport in the UK.
Yes, when the ETIAS becomes operational, you will be required to apply for one even though you're not spending the night in a Schengen country.

Did they ever post what the claim actually was for and what the insurer stated as the reason for the denial?
Perhaps I missed that.
I'd genuinely like to know *IF* there is a problem with a major insurer really NOT paying what is apparently/obviously(?) a valid claim.

Yes, but it's not really worth my time to go back and look. I just remember that many of us told the poster that it probably wasn't going to be a covered loss due to X, Y, & Z. Ever since that, poster has been on a rampage about how insurance companies never pay up and only trust those who can tell you the color of the check. (whatever that's supposed to mean.)

After 20 years of following this board and Steve, I've never heard of a reputable travel insurance company not reimbursing up to the limits of a valid claim. Have I seen some language that may be concerning? Yes. Have I seen or heard about some wild hoops one needs to jump through? Yes. Have I heard of some places who play the long game? Yes. Have I read about or seen some people whine and complain because the insurance company isn't playing fair and that "they" didn't know something wasn't a covered event? Yes. But if you play the game by the rules set forth in the contract and your claim is valid, you will eventually receive your reimbursement.

This is not a factor of believing what we want to believe. Insurance in Canada has different terms than insurance available to Americans and vice versa.
With some - but not all - insurance companies in Canada, strikes are covered.
Hey CDN, don't fall into some posters personal issues.
The poster arguing with you is still butthurt from an issue 3 or 4 years ago when he was upset because his claim was denied for something that was never a covered event in the first place. Instead of just saying, "well, I learned something" and moving on, all insurance companies are out to screw people even though many of us have experienced successful claims.

If they were going to do that the OBC itself would be taxable.
OBC itself could be considered a tax deductible gift. But when not used and refunded, it becomes income subject to IRS rules.
Then again, I never said it had to make sense. It's the IRS FGS.
BTW, my original post was meant to be sarcastic.

Don't forget to mention that Young people ( since you generalize that all "Old People " experience challenges) are rude, obnoxious, entitled ,loud and very immature. We " Old People" mostly lived thru that era, and thats why we " Old People" are considered wise. We know how to behave and act ( except when alcohol is involved, then we revert back to our youth).
GET OFF MY LAWN!!!! 😂😂😂

I'm surprised the IRS hasn't ruled unused/refunded OBC as taxable Earned Income

eh,, old people tend to find something (anything) to complain about no matter the environment. Whether it's the Ritz Carleton or Motel 6. Jean - Georges in NYC or McDonalds in Times Square. Hairy chest contest on the lido deck of Carnival Fantasy or the main theater on Seabourn.
That's okay though. We just have to remember a few things that older people are experiencing. Things like physical decline, emotional challenges, changes in independence, cognitive changes, generational differences, and perspective. I guess we all hope to live long enough to get cranky occasionally.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone.
Issue resolved itself. Was able to book the entire trip on one PNR and Yes, I booked a room at the Oryx Airport Hotel on the transit side at Hamad International Airport.

Per a previous post. I'm having difficulty finding business class reward seats on One World flights from SEA to VCE.
What I have discovered is that it may be possible to get business class reward seats on Qatar from SEA to DOH. Spending the night at the hotel inside the airport and then get another reward seat in business class into VCE for DOH.
Besides the customs & Immigrations thing and then having to recheck luggage the next morning, what other issues might I run into that may cause me to reconsider this potential plan?
BTW, I have also included in my research looking into pre-positioning and catching departure flights out of the following airports, YVR, PDX, SFO, LAX, SAN, LAS, PHX, DEN, DFW, IAH, ORD, PHL, JFK, IAD, & MIA. All with very little luck.

I have purchased several policies from Steve and I will never purchase from him again.
While on vacation in Greece, I broke my ankle and my wrist. We called Steve from Greece to get his assistance. When we needed help getting the services covered in our policy, he was too busy. (We needed help with language interpreters and obtaining medical records from the Athens hospital and an extra seat to fly home)
He says he will assist when you need to file a claim. However, he didn't even pick up a phone to see how I was doing or if my husband needed any help.
I do not recommend Steve or his insurance services.
Buyer Beware!!!!!
Can't wait to hear "The Rest of the Story".
Picking up the phone afterwards to follow-up and check in? Okay, I can see that. I wouldn't expect it, but would be a nice gesture.
Steve, wouldn't be my first call when I'm in the hospital in Greece. The insurance company would be my first call for the assistance being requested above.

I can say you were never on the Prima because the Prima lifeboats are not used as tenders as they are not certified to be used as tenders. If you had sailed on the Prima (as we did), YOU WOULD KNOW THAT.
We have a TA who must be having a bad day. Great customer service skills.

For those in the area, any idea when the counsel will announce information regarding the access fee for calendar year 2025?
Thanks

Thats why anytime I'm doing a search for information, and I don't want to be tracked, I do my searches using the DuckDuckGo browser

Cash
Can you get money off your on board account card? Yes Tables do charge a 3% fee though.
I guess you could also get cash from the ATM's on the ship from your credit card.

Planning to sail out of Trieste next year. For the past few years, we were easily able to find mileage award seat (One World) in business class without too much difficulty. Just like in the past few years, I would go on AS site (using DDG as my browser) and do some searches months in advance, just to get a feel. By the time it came to book the award tickets, I always had a really good idea of what was going to be available.
This year? Not so much. Can't remember the last time I saw BA offerings. I even check multiple departure cities. (We don't mind flying to another city the evening before). Air Lingus is asking 350K for one way. Not. A few offerings from Qatar for 255K. That's an option that would be good if still offered on the day I need for travel. AA rarely offers Business. Usually Premium Economy. Finnair? Lucky to find economy
I guess if it comes down to it, we'll just have to step outside of the One World family and buy the tickets.
Easiest way to and from London to Southampton cruise port
in British Isles/Western Europe

I'll share my experience from last year.
Our #1 issue was luggage. After traveling for many years for work, I can travel for a couple of weeks with just a backpack. My wife OTOH,,, not so much. A weekend getaway is going to be a large suitcase. However, not to throw her under the bus, this was a 3 week trip.
Here in the States, when we sail from Miami for instance, most hotels offer a shared shuttle to the port. That shuttle usually pulls a trailer dedicated for luggage. Not so much in Europe. Rare to find if they even exist.
The train was something I looked into. The issue? Luggage
The National bus from Victoria Station. Was a legit option, but didn't want to deal with the crowds.
Shared shuttle. The issue? Luggage, They only allowed 1 large per person.
We ended up going private shuttle. Yes, it was a bit more expensive but met our needs.
Next year, we have to get from Venice to Trieste. We are traveling with another couple. After considering all options, we are going with a private shuttle.
