1. Just off IN with child with severe allergies. The staff was wonderful and took excellent care to make certain the food he ate was safe. They did however ask that we did a few things to make it easier for them. Dinner only in MDR for 1st seating with just us, no other guests (Head Waiter took care of his meal and prearranged everything the night before), breakfast in the MDR early and at our own table to insure no one else ordered items on allergy list, lunch in MDR or CHOPS which was preordered (suite lunch location) and lunch on Labadee preordered and brought to Barefoot beach for him. RCCL did a wonderful job and now that the 1st cruise after allergy diagnosis went well, more in the future booked. Harder for those without allergies but worth the restrictions so that he was safe and had a great time. :)

  2. I reported last year that the icing donuts were being discontinued and several people reported that that was not true because they were still on the ships that they had just sailed. Find them now! The donuts were factory made and stored in the freezer - cost and storage space. The replacement eclairs are freshly made in the bakery every day and reduce costs substantially.

    .

Just off Saturday, Jan 18, and we had icing donuts everyday last week on the Independence. Chocolate and vanilla. So, they are still around on some ship, just saying.

  3. Use it or Lose it! If people quit going to the event, RCCL can just eliminate and save the money on the drinks and the hassle of the party. Then what will everyone say, yet again another cost costing move, lol. RCL can not please all the people all the time but, at least they try, imho.

  4. This is exactly why the concierges are bogged down and leave current passengers disappointed! Leave them alone before your trip.

If Royal Caribbean wanted you to be able to contact them, they would provide their email addresses when you asked!

I'm sure whatever requests you have can wait until your cruise. You are not their responsibility until it is your sail date!

The Concierges DO contact those in suites prior to the cruise to handle any issues you might have Before the cruise. It helps them have less to do when everyone boards at the same time! After the 1st few days when things die down, they DO have time to handle the next cruise requests and insuring a wonderful cruise experience.

  5. A few dozen souls joined the ship yesterday in St. Martin. They had been unable to get to Fort Lauderdale in time.

And yesterday, after everyone was accounted for, my friends in Guest Services upgraded me to an aft JS.

    :D :D :D

Congrats on the upgrade:D. Sorry about your falls and hope you are slowly improving. Lisa and I will be getting on as you disembark with our godchildren aka working vacation. So, are there 1 or 2 formal nights on the 6 night leg??? We will be dining only in the MDR due to peanut allergy in 2 yr old and early seating at that:(. I may be having a liquid meal;) but glad to hear food ok. Thanks for the review and continue to enjoy. Safe trip home.

  6. After reading some negative threads about Oasis concierges, I must admit I was worried. We are going on a very important family cruise on March 1 and are staying in an aquatheater suite and I have a number of requests, some quite complicated. So I sent an e-mail 2 days ago to both of them, not expecting to hear from them. Well today I got a call and he could not have been nicer. He granted and took care of ALL my requests and was as sweet as could be. Kudos! I just wanted to let anyone concerned know that the Oasis concierges are so very nice and if I am any indication can work out almost any request, because they did for me. I was polite and respectful and they were polite and respectful back. Life is good! :D

Ditto!!! We have never had a problem with any concierge on Oasis and feel they do a wonderful job handling so many more passengers than any other ship. BTW, we have been on OA at least 10 times and always enjoy our time in the CL and the concierges.

  7. Just a heads up.

Someone mentioned as an aside on our December 12th roll call that C&A / RCI said in a phone call that there was a problem with the computer system updating cruise points for December .

We did a B2B2B cruise on Serenade and even though we have only been home 6 days from the last cruise that one shows in our cruise history but not the middle one:(.

I scanned our sea pass cards for all 3 cruises and sent an e.mail off to C&A UK.

Heather, our SR TA posted but not the 12DEC cruise. I spoke C&A about it and they said they are aware:rolleyes:. Just hope it is shows in their system somewhere because we are hitting a new milestone on our next cruise a week from tomorrow:D. At least we all know we have the evidence to prove we were on the ship if we need it, lol.

Post if anyone gets their points for the SR, please.

Have a good weekend everyone, going to be colder than cold here with snow and ice on Sunday:( This is why I cruise in the winter, lol.

  8. In one of my previous post I mentioned that I would ask the question during my Oasis sailing and here you have it. I believe Gina was the first to post here that Captain Patrik Dahlgren will be the first Master of Quantum. So I can confirm that he said so in person.

I believe Promisekeeper was the first to name Capt Patrik;) But that is neither here nor there. Capt Patrik has been announcing this for months on Oasis so it was no secret. He is the best and so happy for him, imho

  9.
Kathy, Just got home from the Serenade. Rami will now be the permanent concierge as Francois will be taking up a position with Celebrity after his vacation.

Rami was a lovely young man, very pleasant and helpful

    Carol
So sorry to hear that Francois has left RCL!! We were looking forward to spending lots of quality time with him on the TA and beyond.:(
Will look forward to meeting Rami and getting to know him. Wishing Francois best wishes on his new assignment. Any idea which ship???
  10. I would like to have a few refreshments for a gathering in our Suite on our 8/7/13 sailing of Vision. As we do not have a Concierge or Diamond Concierge who would I contact?

Also would like to contact someone in regards to some activities we have planed for our Roll Call. TIA

They do have a person at Guest Services that oversees suite guests. She or he can arrange refreshments at a cost per person if you want something special. And, it is rather costly ;). Otherwise, I would wait until that day and order from room service and combine plates of the same thing to have around or bring things from WJ. Most people will have had plenty of food onboard and not really interested in eating more.

CD staff may be able to help you with your activities...

    Have a good time.

  11. General question; I emailed our Concierge for our May 26th FOS cruise to reserve our Labadee cabana. I haven't heard back yet. I know we have more than month to sail.

When do you think the Concierge will email me back, 2 weeks prior to the cruise? We are staying in a GS and are Diamond Plus C&A. Should I email him again if I don't hear back soon? I know that they are switching Concierges in late April. Thoughts?

It's still to early probably for them to respond. I would wait until closer to email again, usually 2 weeks prior to cruise. Then, they should be able to reserve that cruise and if Concierges switching, I wouldn't trust your request getting transferred to their "to do" list, imho

  12. Wolf - hope your flu has gone and your mum is ok. Have you heard any more about Capt Bang - is he likely to return or has he retired??

Capt Bang is retired. So sad since he was our most favorite Captain! We wish him the very best in this new phase of his life's journey:):):)

  13. New question - so I can bring my 2 bottles on per cabin but what if I am doing back to back?? Can I purchase wine at duty free stop and have them hold it until end of cruise and then request it be returned before the next cruise begins - embarkation day???? Seems like this should be allowed since even though b2b you have 2 different booking numbers, etc...Certainly would be nice but probably makes too much sense for the ships to grasp this possibility;)

  14. When we started cruising in 1994, you most definitely could buy a bottle of alcohol in the ship's store and take it to your cabin. They charged $10 more per bottle for the one for your cabin, others were held until the last night at the regular price. Also, in the old days, the Royal Suite was stocked with 5 different bottles of alcohol:eek:. One free water now (as recently as Sept, 2012):(. Wish we didn't have to fly to all the ports (except NO).
