  1. Please forgive me for popping on the Ocean cruise forum but thought you could help.  We are on a pre-trip excursion with Viking River and wondered what the tipping guidelines were for the Director we have been for four days and driver.  They have been excellent and we are being turned over to another team tomorrow.  We have paid the gratuities already for the river cruise.  Thank you so much.

  2. Be sure to have extra self tests and proctored tests.  As of now you need to have negative test to return to US.  Be sure to take self test first to ensure you are negative before the proctored test.  We tested positive after our cruise and couldn’t fly home for six days when we both tested negative.  Please plan for unexpected.

  3. We recently got off the Apex TA and became friends with a group young men (30’s-40’s) traveling together.  We would run into them on the Retreat Sun Deck and Luminae.  One night we were having dinner at the Roof Top Garden Grill and I noticed something strange … someone was walking around in a Shark “onesie” and said to my husband … who would do that!   Turns out I was wrong — it was a dinosaur 🦖.   Seems this group had picked a happy hour to dress in a onesie.  There were lumberjacks, Elmo,  a Cookie Monster and, of course, the dinosaur.  They had so much fun and brought smiles to everyone they saw.  In case you’re curious they changed before going to dinner “since it wasn’t dining attire”.

  4. It’s Wednesday afternoon and will take additional tests tonight and keeping testing till Friday morning and hope for negative test for my husband.  My anxiety level is rising … no symptoms at all … we would not be able to get Certificate of Recovery for 10 more days (I think in Netherlands).  I’ve seen places for Certificate on line in 5 or 7 days but can’t seem to find guidelines. If i only lived in Canada …

  5. We got off the Apex on Saturday and were symptom free though there many cases on Board.  Enjoyed two great days in Amsterdam.  On Monday morning we decided to self test to ease our minds before flying home on Friday.   Our tests were positive so we went to a PRC test site and again were positive.   We are feeling well, now quarantining in our room.  We will test daily and hope for a negative test by Thursday night.  We think worst case scenario would be we could get a certificate of recovery after 10 days.  We are grateful not to have symptoms.  I’m posting here to see if anyone sees a flaw my logic.  Yesterday was quite a stressful day; today just wrapping my head around the changes.

  6. We usually purchase a length of cruise pass for my husband once we board (if we aren’t in AQ).  Today I called to see what the price would be for our TA and was told since it was not available online all the passes were sold out — though I never saw as an option.  Does anyone has any guidance.  We leave on Saturday on the Apex.  Thanks!

  7. We sail on Saturday and I had checked in weeks ago both at same time.  Today I noticed that I can board the Apex at 11:30.  My husband won’t be able to join me till 1:30.  I thought no worries … first time in SS so will call Retreat Host … how easy would that be.  She told me that unfortunately she  can’t change boarding time but he should be able to board with me.  I mentioned I thought Retreat boarding was at 11:30 and she replied that was not true.  All of the above may be in fact true and she was professional but … question do you think I’ll be having lunch on board  while Charlie is hanging out in the terminal 😊

My husband is guilty of this. He is just asking to start a conversation, not to flaunt a status. I doubt he even knows what his status is with Celebrity. He has not been on social media sites in years.

I bet his asks very nicely — Im sure he doesn’t come across as the folks I mentioned!   It is a great conversation starter but some feel like they are asking for other reasons.  Happy cruising.

  9. It seems to me (E+) that many times we are asked by others we meet about how many cruises we’ve taken, what cruise lines and what type of cabins we book.  I have a standard polite response — “We’ve been fortunate that we have been able to cruise over the years in all sorts of cabins.”   That is all anyone needs to know …

It's pretty easy -  at least for me but there are always challenges -

Plug into the HDMI and power it up.   In our suite only have about 6 inches on each side to squeeze my hand in to find the slot.   In many rooms where you have better access much easier.

Once fired up -  go to Roku Settings and choose Ships Wifi -  then you have to log in using the pop up mode instructions for dorm or hotel.

I did a quick video on how to access the HDMI menu

Thank you.  Think we may try.  Have a wonderful day.

  11. Jim, thank you for your wonderful posts.  We are going to be aboard the Apex TA at the end of the month.  It will be third TA but first SS.  You mentioned using Ruku and thought might be great investment because we travel and cruise often.  Is it easy to use on the ship?   Looks like I’ll be doing some research.  Enjoy your travels!

  12. I am aware that this question is a first world problem and that the answer will not affect my cruise in away but was wondering …

I love spending time at Café al Bacio and enjoying the Raspberry Ice Tea.  We will in a suite for our next cruise.   Will I still be visiting Café al Bacio or able to get in the Retreat.  I know I’ll enjoy every minute of the cruise with or without ice tea 🫖

  13. We loved the Eden dinner on the Edge!  We are on the Apex later this month and we were looking forward to another fabulous dinner.  I just discovered it is totally different.  If you have had dinner at Eden on the Apex would love to hear your experiences.  Thank you!

  14. We’ve never been in Sky Suite on Apex or Edge.  Wondering if there is a footstool on the balcony?  Anything other information you might have would be great.

  15. We were booked on Aqua and had tips added to our invoice.  Yesterday we upgraded to Sky Suite.  I had read somewhere tips were included with Suites and wondered if mid we should have the tips we originally paid refunded?  I may have misunderstood so thought if check here.  Thank you.
