What an annoying sound! Oh good they fixed it....

It always amazes me the stress folks put themselves through to save the cost of one pre-night in a hotel and traveling with one carry on bag.

I know, what in the world were they thinking? So much better to plan a bit ahead and start the cruise off in a relaxing mode rather than stress mode!

Close! I just realized you guys have not changed time yet......whew, would have missed the boat.....lol:p

 

Celebrating DH's birthday today. Just returned from a nice meal out and now relaxing with TV AND a Sailaway. Woo Hoo! :D

Lynn, I am so sorry about your health issue on your cruise and the following dramas. I wish you a speedy recovery. Thank you, as always, for your informative posts. I do have a question though...is Cunard Care only for US passengers? It sounds like that was the best money well spent!

The last time we were on QE the detergent was free. It comes in the dissolvable "pods" (can't think of a better word). They are in a metal container located on the laundry room wall.. You just throw one in the washer and away you go. I like to bring a dryer sheet because they don't have softener.

I'm having difficulty navigating the site. I would like to contact others who are taking the Tokyo to Singapore cruise on the Queen Elizabeth, March 18 to April 3rd 2015 as I would like to talk about the excursions offered by the ship. We are an active couple in our 60s and enjoy getting a general oversight of the city we are visiting and getting the "feel", without going inside too many temples and museums. If anyone has done this trip before, perhaps you can advise if any of the ports don't actually need a planned excursion and which excursions you have taken and enjoyed. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

Hi Lily Silver....sorry you are having trouble navigating to the roll call thread. You were there a few days ago....hopefully if you click on the link provided by Scrapnana you can get back there again.

We have booked a Cunard excursion in Yokohama/Tokyo, and Busan. Doing it on our own in Nagasaki. Taking the Cunard shuttle hopefully in Shanghai IF they are taking us to the Bund and NOT to the silk factory which Kathi describes (been to one and that was enough).

thanks Kathi, just about to cancel QE next year, sadly Cunard have canceled the Egyptian ports and even though it would be my 10th trip there, they were the main motivation for those sectors. Looking at doing the QV back to the states now.

 

Since heard that all power has been turned off on the QE2 now, we have been lamenting how she must look inside now. Time to let her go I feel and give her a decent burial in the Atlantic where she once ruled.

Sorry to hear that you are going to cancel, but understand. I have never been to the Egyptian ports and would have loved to see them but under the circumstances would not want to risk safety. Wish you a nice cruise on whichever ship you choose.

Thanks Roscoe for posting the pictures. Although I never cruised on her I wish I could have. It seems like Cunard could have and should have done something more constructive with her, especially considering all the love for her around the world. I bet they wish they had've.:o

I agree Kathi, it does seem so sad, eerie and unnatural for the ship to be empty.

On a different note Roscoe, I noticed you are going to be on a segment of the QE world cruise next year. The roll call has been picking up over the last few weeks. We would certainly like to invite you over!:)

Hello! I'm joining that last 20 days of Queen Elizabeth's World Cruise next year with family, boarding in Dubai and getting off in Southampton. Was interested (but not all that surprised) to get a note yesterday from Cunard saying that the itinerary had changed to avoid the Egyptian ports of Safaga and Sokhna and will instead be visiting Salalah in Oman and Aqaba in Jordan (for Petra).

 

Has anyone visited these ports? Have always wanted to visit Petra so not too disappointed - naturally safety and security are far more important than sightseeing so not too upset about Safaga and Sokhna. Also interested to know whether other cruise lines have suspended their visits to these ports or whether Cunard is just being cautious in their forward planning.
