  1. The AzAmazing Evening should be listed under the shore excursions for $0
  2. We booked the Oban distillery tour online. It was terrific!
  3. We were on the Onward in July. We had no rain. In over 550 nights on Azamara this itinerary and the Japan intensives are my favourites.
  4. Interesting as we are on the 2 following cruises from 24/10 and our evenings is scheduled for NYC and the Carribbean, both onboard. Sure hope we get the same email soon.
  5. Our recent July 13 one was to be there, but the venue was changed without advices to guests prior. I found out only when I enquired onboard as it wasn't mentioned in the Voyger. The replacment venue was okay and I was pleased that we had the forsight to book entry to the cathedral on our own. Something you should not miss either way. The first reason I was given onboard for the change was guests complained last time it was held there as there was/is no air conditioning (really in a cathedral nearly 1000 years old?). However when we visit independently they were setting for for a 4-7 day festival (including stages etc) so I'm thinking it became 'unavailable'. Check for festivals in Trondheim for your dates. At least it wasn't held onboard.
  6. Yes there is to be a lot of changes, I have it from good sources that due to guest requests the Senior Officers will be again posted online but I wasn't given a date for that to happen. Must be a scheduling nightmare for them.
  7. In our 19 cruises since our Australian borders reopened after COVID (2 years ago) we haven’t had lobster at white night until our recent Scotland Ireland and Norway cruises on the Onward. I had heard reports of their return prior to our recent sailings though. Food was of a consistently high standard in Discoveries which was most pleasing. Our white night buffet in the Trollfjord was outstanding.
  8. Only 2 of our last 9 (in 12 months) have been onshore the last not being at the venue advertised. However I believe there was notification when we were recently on the onward that all 2025 AzAmazing evening will be onshore where possible, ie suitable venue, transportation, security etc. Our 2 remaining cruises for 2024 are onboard one being NYC and I do hope that changes. Being docked in manhattan gives them many options. I have hope now with the poster above who says theirs has changed to shoreside. I don’t expect our Western African one in 2025 to be shoreside as I don’t expect them them have suitable facilities for the whole ship. There may be security issues too. On our recent Onward Norway cruise there was a Miami rep onboard who was canvassing locations for AzAmazing evenings. The resounding feedback is guests want them ashore and they have listened to the destination immersion catch cry from guests. We certainly have been vocal. I wonder how I get that job? I guess you’ve been unlucky too.
  9. Phil strangely enough it's only a credit to use from your stateroom phone, how ridiculous....and yes lots of people have been caught out.
  10. Our last 4 cruises (November- Amazon, 3 around Japan) have all been completely full to capacity. Our immediate upcoming back to back to back on the Onward, Scotland Ireland and Norway intensives I believe are fully booked. I don’t think you can categorically say that ships are not being filled on all itineraries. Cruise prices are like hotel and airline tickets. They fluctuate by demand.
  11. Isn’t there a new train now? Check out Rome to Rio website. I’m unable to past the link here. Sometimes shuttles (not necessarily here) are prohibited by the taxi unions. If it’s embarking of debarking day there’s be no shuttles.
  12. I have 5 cruises yet to go this year alone, 4 evenings are planned onboard and one onshore, I'm fully expecting that will be it will be changed/converted once onboard which has happened more often than not to us recentley. Of our last 6 cruises with Azamara only 1 was onshore (and 1 was a transalantice crossing). They we less than 'special' evenings onboard.
  13. Just a thought have you checked your ‘Spam’ folder?
  14. Yes not sure I need to get up at 4 am Friday morning to participate. I’m sure details will be shared here or on social media.
  15. We did the Amazon on the Quest November December and it was immigration check point in Sydney Australia that asked if we had had the yellow fever vaccination. Luckily we had and had our certificates with to provide confirmation. At no time did azamara ask for evidence.
  16. Was that the one where there was fireworks and the debris fell all over guests? Looks like they’ve discontinued the fireworks part. However it was a beautiful setting and a great show. I miss those days…..(and events)
  17. We had a grand 69 night (I think) voyage around South America booked for 2022 on the Quest put it was cancelled because of COVID. It was just one of many that we ‘lost’ during the lockdowns. Probably just as well for us because we’ve since decided that 40-45 days onboard straight are enough for us. Prices have risen greatly of course but glad to see they’re back.
  18. Eleven cruises in the last 12 months, 1 crossing so no AzAmasing Evening, of the remaining 10, 2 have been onshore, 8 have been onboard destination celebration. Two of those 8, where changed after final payment to onboard.....5 more for this year, guess what only 1 of the 5 is onshore. I don't see the commitment you're seeing sorry.
  19. Yes it was introduced last cruise because the ship was full, the weather was cold and windows wasn't coping with the crowds. We walked away from Windows a few times and then had room service and mosiac. It was port intensive but whilst a good solution at the time I sure home it returns to a full service menu for breakfast in discoveries.
  20. We had the Onward Inaugural cruise AzAmazing evening at the Opera at the Fort at the end of the pier in Livorno. It was (and this is from a non opera lover) fantastic. I am bitterly disappointed that Azamara’s intentions are to discontinue on shore evenings in favour of those onboard. It’s doesn’t sit right with their ‘change the way we sea’ or ‘destination immersion’ voyages. We cannot understand why our Japanese intensive we got off recently had its Destination Celebration onboard in the only Korean port of call. In fact all 3 B2B2B were onboard. To me there may be onshore restrictions but it looks very much like cost cutting. Incidentally our next 3 are onboard too. We’ve mentioned it our feedback but expect it’s unlikely to change.
  21. Captain told me he’d be requesting to secure a closer dock on the current cruise for Kobe. We were also there in 2012 and had the dock that was more convenient.
  22. Hello wjfan417 Being an Australian and avid azamara cruiser I noted in your post your desire to visit Uluṟu on your Australian trip. It will be Australia’s peak summer time and not at all a good time to visit Uluru. I’m not sure of your country of origin but Australians even avoid Uluru in summer. Here’s an extract from the internet. You might want to do some more research. May or September are lovely times there. “December, January, February This is Australia’s summertime and is the worst time to travel to the lovely Uluru. The temperatures can be unbearable in the day, reaching low to the mid-30s majority of the time. The highest temperature recorded was a top of 45.5 Celsius degrees, which was only in the shade! Unless you are a fan of sweating like a pig, we recommend trying a different time of the year.”
  23. We’re onboard too and the experiences onboard and shore side have been terrific. It is the onboard experiences and extra touches that make us continue with Azamara.
  24. On the journey now and yes you can only upgrade in the first half of the cruise. They are honouring the old prices for those currently on the previous cruise as back to back.
