  1. Could be he just got a lax checker, but his 0% Heineken made it through just fine on Oasis this week. YMMV.
  2. We have early traditional. They did have all the high chairs ready for us tonight.
  3. I'm going to show my post to a headwaiter or hotel management, and ask if they want another chance to do things right. I will also make it REALLY CLEAR that the wait staff is working really, really hard. The windjammer is packed, and there are long lines at Sorrento's and the promenade cafe, so MDR is really our best option if they can get their act together.
  4. We're in Labadee tomorrow. If we weren't cruising with all of our kids and grandkids (who don't cruise much) we'd be staying on board and enjoying the ship.
  5. Good luck. We're on the Oasis with a large family group. 8 adults, one 4 year old, 2 toddlers. We and our TA called Royal and Royal dining repeatedly to request a large table. Night 1... Table for 9, one couple seated at an adjacent table. Got in long, slow-moving line to get us altogether, were told if everyone fits they can sit there. Extremely slow/poor service (long waits for bar service, water refills, silverware etc.), wait staff obviously slammed. Night 2... Now at a different table for 9.(?) Because of the long waits for food, bread, everything on night one, we sent all the parents to be seated and order while the grandparents supervised the kids in the adventure ocean playroom. Parents requested 2 high chairs and a booster seat upon arrival, and made it clear that the kids were arriving when the food did. As the appetizers arrived, so did we, with the kids (about a half an hour after everyone else was seated). Only one high chair, no booster seat, and no food for the kids. Bread was also gone, and not replenished. I don't know how many tables our dining team had, but it's too many. After multiple requests to wait staff for food and high chairs, I grabbed someone in a suit; several minutes later the kids were seated appropriately and had their fruit plate appetizers. One of the reasons I worked so hard to get main dining was all the posts about how as soon as they got to the table the littles had nibblies and the waiters took great care of them. Not our experience AT ALL. Again, the wait staff seemed completely slammed, and not having enough high chairs is not on them. But grab a fruit plate for the two year old, for heaven's sake, especially when you've been given a half hour head start. We're going to try again tonight. Wish us luck. Thanks for tolerating the rant.
  6. Our whole family is chatting for free on Oasis right now! Fantastic change.
  7. When we travelled with 3 teenaged sons in their own inside cabin, we just apologized a lot and tipped big.
  8. We got chocolate on the pillow on Celebrity. I think that if you want what Royal was 10 -20 years ago, Celebrity is providing it. For a price, of course.
  9. Now that we've figured out that this is a legit itinerary, and not an IT glitch, I'm heading over to the roll call. See you guys there!
  10. No, when we RU'd from a JS to GS we got all the suite benefits. If you RU from a balcony or lower to a suite my understanding is that you don't get double points, but everything else is the suite life.
  11. We gave up our aft JS for a 1 BR GS on Brilliance in late August. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Great CS concierge, breakfast in Chops every morning, CS drinks, huge cabin with so much storage we had to keep looking for our stuff. I'll bid on all available suites from now on, unless (like our upcoming cruise next week) we're cruising with family/grandkids and we have a block of cabins altogether. (The group trip means we wouldn't be taking advantage of all the other suite perks, either). Other than that, we'll roll those dice every time!
  12. We're D+, and almost to the 340 mark. If they keep cutting we won't make Pinnacle... We'll look elsewhere for the level of service that Royal taught us to expect. X is an option, but the equivalent Captains Club level definitely doesn't offer enough incentive to put them ahead of similar products.
  13. I've been looking for fall 2024 repo cruises almost every day. I just saw it on the US site today.
  14. We did a Carnival sailing with once a day cabin service. You can't always get the time you want (how would you like to have the unmade bed and wet towels all day, only to have the single service at bedtime?) and the stewards are all so busy that you never see them in the halls for a quick hello or request. It's much more like hotel maid service. You get the room done, sometime, by somebody. Period. The level of service is reduced far more that the "twice a day to once a day" description makes it seem. Can we survive it? Of course!! But the cruise industry has been built on a tradition of providing a much higher level of service than we normally expect on land. I hope the industry can survive and be profitable without changing that identity.
  15. That makes sense. We've never been to Portugal, so we'll keep our current reservation. Our JS eastbound is around $2900, including ~ $400 for gratuities, with the D+ discount.
  16. I've been watching the fall 2024 cruises populate, and there's something a bit odd. Booked the TA on Adventure from Canaveral to Lisbon, then started looking at other cruises on the ship to maybe create a B2B. There's another TA, opposite direction, just a month later! What do you think.... Odd itineraries, or website glitch?
  17. Sadly, we have had the worst service and overall experience of any specialty or included restaurant a few times at Chops on various ships. Tipping extra wasn't a concern. I hop you have a good experience.
  18. And can you bring on NA beer? That's my son's goto, so it would be awesome if he can bring a 12 pack.
  19. Hi! We're sailing with all of our kids and grandkids next week on Oasis. I know things have been in flux as covid has impacted some ships' programs. What can we expect for our 2 and 4 year olds right now? Are times limited, with reservations needed? Any tips? Can parents give permission for others to drop off and pick up children? We cruise way more than our kids, so part of this Christmas present cruise is a lot of little wrangling so the parents can have adult time. Anyway, any words of wisdom are very welcome! Thanks!
  20. You beat me to it. D+ drinks for alcohol, refreshment package for the coffees, sparkling waters, and juices.
  21. We live in the Solarium on our cruises. I'd be upset, too, and would ask for compensation (obc or fcc) too.
  22. Us, too, but the chip was in the back cover, not next to the photo page as shown in the app.
  23. Same. We're US citizens, in the US. We used the ETA apps for each country.
