  1. Have you ever holidayed in North Wales? That's where we're off to today for a week - the day we should have boarded Iona for a week to the Fjords. It's our first holiday of the year and we sometimes wondered if we would ever make it. We managed to get a cancellation. Everywhere seems to be booked out.

  3. 33 crew members test positive now https://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/news/5501/
  4. The following from the BBC website: Four crew members on a Norwegian cruise ship, MS Roald Amundsen, tested positive for Covid-19 and are now in hospital. The ship is docked in Tromso, northern Norway. All 160 quarantined crew will be tested and the 177 passengers, who have disembarked, have been urged to self-isolate. The ship, owned by Norwegian firm Hurtigruten, had been on a week-long voyage to Svalbard in the Arctic. It is scheduled to visit ports in England and Scotland in September, Reuters reports. In March, Hurtigruten suspended most cruises because of the pandemic, but it plans to return 14 vessels to service by the end of September.
  5. Whereabouts on Cunard's website does it say how much you owe? Maybe it's me but I haven't seen anywhere on Cunard's website that does that.
  6. And because they moved the QV's future sales office into what was once a shop, there is now one less shop on the QV and everything is crammed into the book shop. Social distancing will now probably mean only one person at a time in there.
  7. Welcome home Queen Elizabeth! 🛳️🚢 🙂
  8. You should be protected by ABTA, which is what it says on C&M's website. ATOL is for flight-inclusive packages. https://www.abta.com/south-quay-travel-leisure-limited-trading-cruise-maritime-voyages How sad that they have gone into administration.
  9. QEII The World's Most Luxurious Hotel. Three part documentary on Channel 5 starting Friday 24th July at 9pm. Documentary series following life aboard the famous ocean liner, now a floating hotel.
  10. Thanks both of you for those photos. I looked at the webcams thread this morning which showed the QM2 still at sea so I guess they have frozen again.
  11. The QE is now in the Mediterranean Sea. Back home in Southampton in 9 days. 🙂
  12. I haven't seen that anywhere so thanks for the update. Disappointing but understandable I suppose.
  13. The updated FCO information is the main item at the moment on ITV's website. Also an article on CC's news page today https://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/news/5451/
  14. It's because the Foreign Office updated their advice yesterday. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/cruise-ship-travel https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jul/09/uk-foreign-office-urges-holidaymakers-to-avoid-cruise-ships When you look at the cruise timetables website, there are plenty of cruises showing departures from the UK from August onwards.
  15. Other newspapers are carrying the same story - Daily Express, The Times etc https://www.express.co.uk/travel/cruise/1307386/cruise-ship-holidays-2020-fco-cruises-travel-advice-news-latest https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/coronavirus-cruise-holidays-scuppered-as-ministers-declare-ships-unsafe-wrkq8nz2p Hurtigruten hope to have 4 Round the British Isles cruises in September. So it will be interesting to see what happens there.
