This is a set of diverse and complex requests. Therefore, one suggest a cut/copies to the contact us page of the SJ Tourism Office Link - https://cupeles.com/contact/ Where exchanges can be promptly made for each current and subsequent questions. Know one will be successful

Take a cab - About $70/80 per cab each way plus tip. Never visited, never tasted any of their expressions. Without a good tasting, no interest in a visit. There should be reviews on TripAdvisor. If considering a Distillery visit and wanting a scenic visit and a clean/sanitised tour, then Depaz or Clement on Martinique (both good Rhum). But for a real experience with steam driven leviathans, with Rhum made and bottled by hand, then La Favourite is a must. Their Rhums are superb, especially La Filbuste. La Favourite tastings are noted because all Rhum is there, with the shop prices equal to and sometimes lower than Duty Free at Port. Port Retailers are there to make a profit.

There’s Trigo (a good rum), but a cab ride outside SJ, but not sure if they do tours. Best to contact direct for availability and price. This distillery has tours and tastings - https://sanjuanartisandistillers.com But never tried any of their expressions.

Is the request for recommendations for a Rum Bar? One’s preference is The Mezzanine, which has a diverse selection at all price points. They have a happy hour (?) for 4 hours from 4 pm. Their Tapas and small plates food is good. Great OSJ atmosphere. But there are many Bars all over OSJ… No doubt CC will give alternatives for consideration.

Orient Beach Seaweed conditions
PORT ROYAL replied to markincanada's topic in St. Martin/St. Maarten
It is globally acknowledged that seaweed occurs because of adverse weather conditions and tidal surges out at sea. Weather and tides in the Caribbean cannot be precisely predicted, nothing today, seaweed tomorrow. Best to book one’s beach day in advance, then just go with the flow and enjoy. -
For a private tour, work on $500/600.00 for the vehicle, which can accommodate six.

Recommendations for Beach Day w/Snorkel
PORT ROYAL replied to Mac9624's topic in St. Martin/St. Maarten
Taxi there to Cul-de-Sac (pier on Orient Beach) and back…. Outward driver will be happy to be time booked for the return from the pier at Cul-de-Sac to port. If not wishing to be time banded, there will be plenty of taxis available (waiting) at Cul-de-Sac for the drive back to port. -
No water taxi.. Take a Cab… The Cab controller’s kiosk is inside the covered cruise terminal. The fares are government controlled and published at the kiosk. Work on about $20 per cab each way plus tip. Outward driver will be pleased to be booked for one’s timed return and will arrive early to put one’s mind at rest. Don’t forget Ponchos

Single best Barbados recommendation for 50 year olds
PORT ROYAL replied to Spencer71's topic in Barbados
Think it’s sailing on a larger yacht, with more space/comfort. With regard eats, the food is always the same high quality, with XL having a slightly larger choice of premium drinks - All drinks are premium across all sailings. -
SM - https://www.12metre.com Captain Bob - Speedboat tour, snorkelling, lunch etc. ST - https://usvisharkdiving.com/about-us/

One can recommend The Mango Tree - Check out the Chef’s Specials (tastebud joys) on the daily board - but do book early for that very desirable front row table overlooking the Pitons. BIL & SIL took a Buffet lunch at The View as part of a private tour a few years ago, which they enjoyed with a distance view of The Pitons I will invite @reedprincess to suggest alternatives for consideration, being excellent for both food and views. Enjoy checking out the Websites, the photos, the Menus and the ambiance in making a selection, but with a big note to self, do book early for a prime view table.
