  1. Hubby just followed the sat nav as it was our first time travelling from Haltwhistle.
  2. Not from Southampton but from Haltwhistle near Hadrian’s wall.
  3. Several years ago the sat nave took us off the M6 route and round some lovely wee villages due to congestion as it was a public holiday. Another time we were driving home from Haltwhistle and the sat nav took us home via the A1. As it was Nov/Dec the road was dark so 5his is why Hubby doesn’t like the A1 and also we have to cross over the country from Edinburgh to Glasgow.
  4. Now that was sneaky. 🙈😂😂😂
  5. My hubby drives the whole journey from Glasgow to Southampton as I don’t ‘do’ motorways but I have offered to drive once we leave the main traffic through to the Scottish Borders as the road is so quiet there but he needs to take me out in his car , as it’s keyless and hasn’t got a hand break eek, so I can get used to driving the car and motorway but it’s a no from him. It’s not as if taking me out to practice would bother him as he’s a driving instructor. He says he enjoys the drive and he does love driving.
  6. We’ve not stayed in Southampton pre cruise for a while as there’s not that much to do. We’ve stopped overnight in Newbury before as it’s only about a 30-45 min drive into Southampton. This time for our Aug cruise I was thinking of stopping in Winchester for 2 nights as it had loads to see but then I received a to good to refuse email for 2 nights stay in Newbury, well a 20 min or so walk to Newbury so I’ve booked that. Oxford is on the way if you go the better M6 route. If you take either A1 route then you could take a detour to lovely York. Or Nottingham or Leicester. We drive down
  7. My Med cruise is 18th April and I hope if/when they cancel it will be before my final payment day on 10th Feb as I will get my full deposit back but if I’ve paid in full then it’s a FCC which I don’t want. 🤞🏻🤞🏻
  8. Thanks for allowing us to cruise with you and Mrs Miaminice. I loved all your photos and your writing style which made me feel I was there too. You have set my hubby’s mind at rest for our next cruise in April, if it goes ahead 🤞🏻🤞🏻, on Oceania Sirena which is a much smaller ship than Mein Schiff. once again thanks for taking the time to post your wonderful blog.
  9. My hubby is 6’2” and approx 18stone (252 lbs) and has never complained about the shower or toilet being too small. It’s not as anyone is spending hours in the bathroom room every day. Having the shower door will make a difference. We’ve sailed on a couple of other ships with bathrooms just as small. We just accept it as it’s only for a week or two.
  10. I logged onto my account last night at 11pm U.K. time and found my April booking on Sirena deleted and stating the same message as yours! 😱 I sent Oceania an email and decided that I’d phone my TA today, Sunday, to have a polite rant. However I thought that I’d better recheck my account this morning before phoning my TA. I’m glad I did as my booking had thankfully returned! 😀 Boy did I have a sleepless night. I now know not to log in on a Saturday.
  11. I only saw that notice when I logged into Oceania last night, U.K. time. Thanks for taking the time to post.
  12. Once again great photos. Loving Santorini sunset. Looking at your sunset photos remind me of having to walk down all those 588 steps as the cable car had broken down. It was a very, very hot August day (remember I live in Scotland so anything above 20 is hot to us!) and we had to share the stairs with the poor donkey’s! It took us about 45 very long mins but it’s a great holiday memory.
  13. Oh how I hate returning to my cabin after a lovely evening to find those dreaded luggage tags on the bed. thanks for letting us gate crash your cruise. I’m having a fab time. Love your photos and especially looking forward to seeing your Santorini sunset ones.
  14. Wearing masks in shops, walking in/out/about restaurants/cafes/pubs and enclosed places are in force in Scotland too. We are not allowed to go to the bar to order food or drinks, it’s all waiter service. It’s amazing how quickly you get used to wearing a mask and how it becomes second nature applying it. It’s part of our lives for the foreseeable future.
  15. Can you see the menu on your phone in English too? Have the food choices in all restaurants onboard been reduced or is there just as much choice as before? loving the food photos, after all food is important on any cruise.
