Are vaccines the light at the end of the tunnel?
middlehaitch replied to Ken the cruiser's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Didn't know where to post this.... Hooray, America has joined other first world/wealthier countries in the WHO's COVAX efforts to provide money and vaccines to less wealthy countries. This may be a way forward for crew vaccinations. (sorry no link but it is on most news sites, haven't checked if the COVAX site has been updated yet) Cheers, h. -
Alaska 2021 Cruise Lifted & Shifted To 2022!
middlehaitch replied to CruiserMickey's topic in Celebrity Cruises
It most certainly is official. Travel Alerts & Advisories | Celebrity Cruises Friday, February 12th, 2021 The Government of Canada has recently announced continued port closures for all cruise ships through February 28, 2022. In order to comply with these closures, Celebrity Cruises has placed all sailings with an embarkation or port of call in Canada, on hold while we explore itinerary options. While this news is certainly disappointing, we certainly respect their decision and appreciate that they have their own set of COVID-19 circumstances t -

All Connie summer/autumn 2021 Med cruises were cancelled in January 20201and an option to lift and shift ( not the classic but specific) within the same time frame on the Infinity was offered. At that time, and maybe even now, Celebrity were planning on a condensed (fewer ships) Med season. It is doubtful that any will sail. Cheers, h.

We have a Sept/Oct 2021 Infinity Med booked (since 2019) and I don't see it happening. If it did happen I doubt I will be on it. Both Canada and Europe are slow getting the vaccine out and I would rather not cruise until everywhere is a lot safer. Cheers, h

Here is what BC, Canada is doing. This will provided various means of providing proof and, because the card is digitally linked, would be harder to fake the card as it can be computer verified. Our drivers license is also our service card so will hold access to the vaccination record by the holder but could become a scannable feature in the future. Because it is digitally stored by the gov it should also be possible to link it to a passport or visa if that kind of requirement is needed (much like I no longer need a paper copy of my ESTA for entering the USA it now being linked to my

Canadian government CANCELS 2021 Alaska cruise Season
middlehaitch replied to Oren's topic in Celebrity Cruises
On the positive side, this does give both the cruise lines and passengers time to re adjust their expectations (for want of a better word) and not stagger along month by month wondering what will happen next. With the problems Canada is having acquiring their orders of vaccine it is a prudent move to restrict travel to protect residents and visitors alike. Cheers, h. -
I think this is the site you are looking for. As it just shows price comparisons, doesn't sell cruises as far as I know, it should be OK to post it. I hope (if it isn't, sorry 😞) Cheers, h https://www.*****.com even though the name has been * , the link still takes you to the website.

Celebrity will start sailing with only 50-60% capacity
middlehaitch replied to terrydtx's topic in Celebrity Cruises
@paulh84 Celebrity offered a cruise specific variant of lift and shift for the cancelled Constellation and Edge Med cruises for 2021 (offer dated 12/01/21 expired 26/01/21) Limited date range, same class ship, price (based on a per day rate) and perk protected. I think Royal are doing a similar offer. Cruises are still on the books for the Med, just fewer ships, who knows if they will sail. Cheers, h. -

How about.... They are just going to sit with a big list that only shows how much hard cash is being paid for a cabin. The top 50% stay, the bottom go. A suite that is paid mainly with FCCs will be dropped for a OV that is paying more hard cash with no FCCs. 😊 (can you guess I am in an OV on the Infinity, moved from the Constellation, with no FCC🤭) No Captains Club loyalty, or cabin class taken into account, just money. B2B Italy and TA: What do you do on the last/first day?
middlehaitch replied to peanut head's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I'll just add this info in case anyone has already booked any of the Constellation's autumn cruises and doesn't know they have been cancelled. NB: the offer to rebook another cruise expires on the 26 January. Cheers, h. -

Check the cruises you are looking at. Celebrity have cancelled this autumn's (2021) Constellation cruises in the Med. Voluntary Suspension of Cruising (celebritycruises.com) Cheers, h. -
Celebrity recently cancelled 2 ships in the Med. We were offered alternate Med sailings on equivalent ships in a lift and shift type scenario (not under the classic lift and shift rules though). If the cruise was longer or shorter the pricing was adjusted on a per night basis. You could try asking if this option is available to you if your only choice is a longer or shorter cruise. Cheers, h.
