Trying to encourage folks to post multi port questions here since it is more a general Caribbean board...

Going to try and get this board moving along a bit.
If you have a GENERAL question about "western Caribbean cruises", or "what ports do you recommend for the best snorkeling" etc. , this is hopefully going to be the place to ask and get an answer. The ports of call boards sometimes don't have a lot of info on a particular island and posting your questions involving several ports on just one board won't really get the information you are looking for either.
Just going to try this and see. So if you ask a question like "We are going to Saint Thomas, Tortola and St Maarten. Best beaches for families?" you may see a link sending you here.

I know there is a "port of call" thread for San Juan Puerto Rico but, I was curious if there is an embarkation thread I'm missing somewhere?
Thanks!
Lots of inquiries and posts on the San Juan port of call board re embarkatio

My two cents (not legal advice) is that she has legal custody so can make the decision to take them on a cruise. The only way I see it being an issue (after the fact with her husband) is if the divorce decree/child custody agreement specifically states she has to obtain parental permission from the other parent to take them out of the country. If it does, she better get it from Dad.
This is really the key issue. Did family law for several years. Some have separation agreement, custody order requiring written permission just to take a minor out of state! If there is anything in writing regarding parental consent to travel.......not a situation where you do the deed and beg forgiveness later.

Never much info re Jax on the Florida boards .....think it's because only one Carnival ship sails from there and port location. Hopefully someone here or on Florida board will have a suggestion

If you are also considering Royal Caribbean perhaps a post on that board would help you decide.

You will find a wealth of information about cruise and travel insurance on this board:
https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/499-cruisetravel-insurance/
One thing to look at is medivac amounts. You never think it will happen to you but if a medical emergency requires a flight home for treatment it can easily run over $50,000 depending on distance. The medical part of coverage does not include that

I let this go way way off topic from the original post re Guys Burger. Thanks for staying polite and remember the next time someone goes ballistic when something sort of "off topic" veers off for a few unkind posts or is just barely off topic and stays. .😉

Traffic can be awful in St Thomas if several ships in port. If you have late arrival what time does ship leave? If you go on your own to St John will need to get cab to ferry but ship tours sometimes pick you up at the port by boat. You also don't have to be concerned with getting back on time. If you have short port time might be better to stay on St Thomas for beach?
I've done ship tour to St John and it was nice not hassling with cabs. With relatively young children I would possibly find a closer beach on St Thomas but that's just me.

I am on the Getaway on Feb. 2 and I was wondering where the Haven line was? I've heard alot about the confusion for Haven Passengers not waiting in the Haven line.
You might want to ask this on NCL board!

My son lives there part time ....asked him and said even on east end where he lives tourists feel safe. Take usual precautions re money, pocketbooks, wandering off to out of the way areas etc. Been there twice mostly on West end and find it much more "comfortable" than Jamaica for example

I was kinda thinking the same thing..I have definitely booked on my own before, just usually go with a TA due to OBC, but I thought maybe he was right because it is last minute and pretty cheap??
I might add that I have tried several TAs in Canada and I find Im teaching them stuff..so have booked myself or gone off someone from a site who offers quotes..
Really wish there could be adverts on here..

I have been given handicap cabins twice when I booked a guarantee. When I was a TA many moons ago we couldn't book these cabins to folks who didn't need them till after final payment. Your post doesn't say how far out you booked. I don't know who assigned these cabins to you but I would go back to your TA, PVP.....whoever and perhaps see if there are two balcony cabins that aren't ADA accessible you can move to?
